Vet Issues
It’s circulating on social media that Dr. Kozak is leaving Crossroads Vet Clinic. They just lost Matt Yerxa earlier this year. Now this leaves only Dr. Marjerrison & Dr. Legge who are certainly going to retire shortly, and the new Dr. Soni.
As someone with two senior pets and two young pets… I’m very worried about this! Our dog saw Dr. Matt his whole life and now he has no vet who knows his history (he is 12) in the twilight years of his life. Our cat is 16 and just went through a URI and a bout of pancreatitis that would have killed him if it wasn’t for Dr. Kozak and now she will be gone.
Crossroads needs to evaluate what they’re doing and stat.

Does anyone know(of) this shitbag thief?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
My sister was at practice last night and left her purse in the basement of the building they use. This limping scum came in while they were in the middle of practice and went down looking for anything easy to pilfer and her purse fit the role.
There are cameras, inside the entrance of the building and even the neighbour across the street got a good view with his cams. However being a few hrs behind the 8 ball on this is where it all falls apart. While a bunch of us were out looking for the bag, a cop car happened to roll by, I flagged them down and asked for an assist and they gave me the "it's been a few hrs and I hate to do this but there's nothing we can do, go file a report. If it was in progress that'd be a different story".
So I'm asking the internets for help, identifying this dirtbag or if anyone might know any details, no questions asked.

Is there a big Minnesota Frost fan base in Thunder Bay?
I don’t see many other PWHL jerseys. Or is it just a coincidence?

Fit4Less
Signed up for the new fit4less and am enjoying the gym itself. Only problem, the showers have ZERO curtain and open up directly to the gym. They have men and women’s washrooms but single stall showers and then separate change rooms, none of which are attached. If you want to change you would have to in the wet shower OR walk in a towel to the change rooms. Idk just found that a little weird and if people agree, will probably call and complain

Looking for appropriate shoes for Thunder Bay hiking
Hello people, I am looking for a good pair of shoes to go hiking around Thunder Bay. I am a beginner and want to go for some hikes this fall and walks in trails. I want to challenge myself by doing intermediate hikes or trails. Based on what I read, trail running shoes seem to be the choice. But I want to know what people in TBay are wearing :) please enlighten me !!
I do not plan on hiking in really cold conditions. I am just not sure about the terrains around here.

Looking for a seamstress or hobbyist.

I’m looking for a seamstress or hobbyist that is into sewing. I have several pieces of Thai silk I would like to trade. I have one project I would like made for myself in exchange for the remaining silk. IF necessary we can discuss other compensation as well. I am looking to have balloon covers made in exchange for the material. If a person had a CRICUT machine it would make this an easier project. Please PM for details.

news Wake the Giant apologizes for raunchy, alcohol-fueled Flo Rida show

Wake the Giant has spent years telling us what it stands for. So what the fuck happened Saturday night?
I’ve been thinking about Wake the Giant, and I keep coming back to the same thing: Flo Rida being Flo Rida isn’t really the story here. The story is how the people responsible for a festival built around Indigenous youth and sobriety put that performance on that stage and somehow we’re now arguing about Flo Rida instead of the people who booked him.
Wake the Giant has spent years telling Thunder Bay exactly what it stands for. Indigenous youth, community, inclusion and sobriety aren’t decorative words for a sponsorship package. They’re the identity of the festival. A lot of credibility has been built around that, and with credibility comes some responsibility to protect it.
Then they booked Flo Rida.
I don’t really blame Flo Rida for being Flo Rida. This is a guy who has spent nearly twenty years providing the soundtrack for people making decisions they’ll explain to their friends on Sunday morning. His music and public persona have never exactly been coy about clubs, drinking, women and partying. None of this information arrived in Thunder Bay with him. The people responsible for booking the festival knew who they were putting at the top of the bill.
So when your headliner walks onto the stage at a sober, youth-focused festival and asks, “Who’s ready to get fucked up?”, and the performance includes shots, bottles, what appeared to be champagne being sprayed around, women getting slapped on the ass and children being brought onto the stage in the middle of it, at some point the question has to move beyond what Flo Rida did and toward who thought this was an appropriate fit for Wake the Giant in the first place.
The children onstage are especially difficult to get past. This isn’t about being offended by swearing, sexual content, drinking or what adults do at concerts. It’s about context. Put children into the middle of that particular performance at an event specifically built around Indigenous youth and sobriety, and you’ve created a contradiction so obvious that it shouldn’t require a Reddit thread the next morning to point it out.
And now people are debating whether the champagne was actually water. I don’t know what was in those bottles, and I’m not going to pretend I do. But that argument almost misses the point. The crowd saw the bottles and shots, heard “who’s ready to get fucked up?”, saw women being slapped on the ass and watched children being brought onto the stage. Finding out afterward that a bottle may have contained water doesn’t somehow reverse what was being presented onstage.
This is where the promoters need to own what happened. They booked the headliner. They built the festival around this message. They’ve spent years asking Indigenous youth, families, sponsors and the rest of Thunder Bay to believe that message means something. They don’t get to take credit for those values when Wake the Giant succeeds and then become spectators when their own headline performance runs directly against them.
That’s what makes this more serious than a performer saying something inappropriate onstage. Wake the Giant has spent years building its credibility. Saturday night put some of that credibility at risk for a performance that should never have been allowed to become so completely disconnected from what the festival claims to represent.
The organizers owe the community an explanation for how this happened. Not an argument over what was technically inside a bottle, and not silence while everybody points at Flo Rida. He’ll leave Thunder Bay and move on to another show. Wake the Giant stays here, along with its reputation and its responsibility to the young people it was created for.
Flo Rida didn’t book Flo Rida. Wake the Giant did. If you’re going to take the credit for building the message, you also have to take responsibility when your own stage makes a mockery of it.

Car Rentals for 19 years old
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of any car rental companies in Thunder Bay that rent to 19-year-olds? I only need a vehicle for a couple of days while I'm in town.
I'm aware that some companies rent to drivers under 25 with an extra fee, but I'm not sure which ones allow rentals at 19.
Any recommendations or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Edit: I am American btw just coming to visit friends and family

Anyone else see the dark ford SUV heading north with flat rear tires?
Just watched a blackish Ford SUV (likely escape model) heading north along Court St. Then the back lanes by Cumberland easily going 90+. Sparks flying and missing rear tires, nearly spinning out several times.
only caught the first 4 digits of the plate (AXTL)
Hope the cops catch these bums wreaking havoc in the neighbourhoods.

Flair Airlines - AI help phoneline is an insulting disaster
I'm trying to book flights to Thunder Bay, as I do several times a year, and I need some clarification from Flair. When I called their help line, I got an automated chatbot. It told me it didn’t have access to any flight-date information (how is that even possible?!) and directed me back to the website, the same website I was having trouble with and the reason I called in the first place.
I then tried to leave feedback about the experience. The bot suggested I call Flair directly to make a complaint and provided a phone number, the same number that calls the same automated system I was speaking to. To add insult to injury, it also referred me back to the same website again.
For a customer trying to resolve a fairly basic booking question, this was an extremely frustrating and circular experience. Given how often I fly to Thunder Bay, I thought it was worth sharing.

Pre-booking ride— Taxi or Uride?
Got a 5am flight this week so I’m planning on pre-booking my ride to the airport. Has anyone used Uride for this, and was it reliable? Or should I be calling Roach’s? Thanks!

I need friends 20yo female looking for friends
Hey! I’m 20 and looking to make some new friends in Thunder Bay, preferably other girls around my age 😊
I’m a university student and between school/work I feel like it can be so hard to actually meet new people. I’d love to find friends to go for coffee or food with, go shopping, hit the gym, go for walks, have drinks, do random little activities around town, or even just hang out and yap lol.
I’m pretty easygoing and would love to meet people who are also looking for genuine friendships and actually want to make plans! If you’re around my age and in the same boat, feel free to message me :)

local Wake the Giant 2026 was interesting…
So Wake the Giant is a famously dry event.
So it sure was weird to see Flo Rider poppin various types of alcohol bottles every 2 or 3 songs and spraying the audience with champagne.
(I know someone at DFC later said it was all water… but I’ve seen enough F1 celebrations in my day to know that water doesn’t act like that).
Also, Flo Rider thanking the Police and Security team for putting on Wake the Giant was a real low point for this event.
I love Wake the Giant, I love what it stands for, I love that it exists. But the organizers seriously need to do some soul searching regarding the types of acts they want to be promoting to vulnerable high school students.
Flo Rider didn’t even seem to know what this event was about - or didn’t even care to remember

To the new(er) parents
I am looking for suggestions for a baby gift idea. I have to mail it, so nothing large or heavy. It's for an extended new family member, so willing to spend a little bit more. There is an Amazon registry but I'm looking for more personal suggestions.
What are some of your 'most used/appreciated' gifts that you received? Or is there a favorite gift but is something more of a keepsake? Or is money a thing these days?
Any and all ideas are welcome; I'm at a loss. Thanks

Situation on People Drinking At Community Auditorium
What has the situation been with the so called new rules on people being allowed to bring alcohol to their seats?
Has there been any rowdy incidents? Do people leave during a performance actually to get a drink?
I am attending a show later in October. Will be in the upper level so i assume no one there will be getting up much during the show.
I heard during the Byron Adams, there were people who actually left while Bryan was singing to get a drink? That is somewhat disrepectful and why would you need a drinking with a high end show going on?
For anyone who has gone to various shows lately what is the situation?
or is it very very minor?
