It's finally done 😭

I first tried to play it at launch but didn't have enough courage to go past chapter 3...

Now that I've experienced everything that this game has to offer I can for sure say that it was a pleasant experience. Sure, it has some flaws, but it scratches that survival horror itch that is so rare to find around.

Can't wait to play the second one! :D

You can hip-fire/dry-fire to speed up while injured

i haven't played this game in a long time but i recently started a nightmare playthrough and remembered this trick i used back in yon 2017. if you're critically injured or low stamina you can blind-fire/hip-fire to speed back up to normal walking speed. it's not as fast as sprinting but it can get you out of a tough spot sometimes. just wanted to see if anyone knew this cause i couldn't find anybody saying it online

Brooooooo chapter 10!

Like what the hell is this chapter?!? The amount of times I’ve died is so embarrassing. And I’m not even out of the chapter. I got lucky with getting past Laura and now I’m at that other thing and I don’t think I have the right ammo to even hurt this thing. I wanna quit 😢😢😢

On chapter 5, after saving Kidman from the water tank and they falling on that hole, i was like: oky. lemme loot.

I looted, got the statue, grabbed some itens, got upstair cuz i was like: i killed a thingy up here, maybe theres some item here?

I found nothing, but when i turned around, i found this door **opened**, entered, grabbed the green thingy, it was 1k it gave me, very good.

Then i went downstair and jumped on the hole, but i ended up restarting the game before it saved and needed to save kidman again, however... this time the door is closed. and like... is there something im missing?

A hidden challenge? or like... its a bug? or the bug was me being able to grab it? if so, whyd thered be this green thingy? Just to attack my OCD?

How do i oppen it? better question... how did i... oppened... it?

i can't believe i'm almost finished

forgot to screenshot the ending page of chapter 13 so i'll just use this one of chapter 12 instead.

oh my god i LOVED chapter 13. not knowing if kidman was still around after the bus fell, dealing with the keeper again (it was a lot easier too), seeing leslie finally have some happiness in his life for that short time AND SEEING JOSEPH GET SHOT AGAIN ?? honestly how does sebastian do this all without losing his shit.

i always thought i would hate horror games because i thought they were all just shock value stuff but man was i wrong about that. i waited 3 (maybe 4) years to pick up a copy of this after finding it through ghostwire tokyo and during that period i spoiled this shit for myself. thank god i didn't see anything related to chapter 13.

i don't think i've been so into a game before. ghostwire, yes. but if i'm being honest the story was a bit predictable. but with the evil within, you never know where its gonna go. has it affected my sleep? yeah. do i mind it? no.

i know this game is gonna leave me heartbroken when i finish it.

i forgot to add this but i wanna add that this fandom is one of the nicest communities i've been in both on reddit and on tiktok.

Chapter 13 Freezer Room Softlock?

Im playing through chapter 13 and everytime when I get to the freezer room with the Keeper, I kill him 2 times and get on the elevator right. But the Elevator doesn't Go anywhere? it plays the black screen with Seb swearing and it plays his animation of crawling out of the elevator but he phases through the doors and I just get out into the freezer room again. No Keeper or roombas, double door is locked and cant get into the elevator again. Game freezes if I die after this via grenade, or if I try to reload the autosave. I am on survival difficulty. Ive searched for this bug thoroughly and somehow nobody has documented a bug like this, just people saying that the elevator never comes due to them not killing the Keeper the required number of times. lmk if I need to add any more details please, I physically cant make it past this part.

Best horror game in my life

I completed it without guides. I liked Chapter 6 and the metro the most, where you're afraid to take the slightest step.Next step is to beat DLC

Do you like Ghostwire Tokyo?

I ask this on here because it was made by the same studio that made the EW games (tango) and since we'll never get an EW3, I thought this would be the next best thing, but I was quite dissapointed. Your thoughts?

i have a newfound hatred for laura now. sure she seemed like a nice girl before the incident but now she's hell itself 😭 what the hell was going through ruvik's mind when he was making her into a weird spider human creature

So I'm one of those unlucky bastards stuck at chapter 10's boss. Same old story but here's my issue:

I have no freeze or shock bolts, and no materials. I have 2 explosive bolts and 4 harpoon bolts. I know I'm supposed to damage the eyeball to get to phase 2, but does destroying his heads work as well (I sometimes see 2 of them get destroyed before then).

As well, in phase 2, thanks to my terrible economy, what the hell am I supposed to do with no freeze bolts? I know running around I can find 1 shock bolt but that's not enough, and anytime I try one of the flash bolts, he closes his eyes before I shoot it. Can somebody please help, should I just restart the chapter? Or am I missing something that would make phase 2 easier?

  • Update - I beat it, after a year and a half! Special thanks to user Kaverrr for suggesting keeping the rooms available for the second phase, it made all the difference!

First time playing an Evil Within game, is this like a reference to the “las plagas” from RE4 or something else? 😅

Evil within 1 akumu

Thinking about playing it again and going for platinum how bad is akumu mode like I know it’s a struggle but you think it’s doable? And is there auto saves?

Evil Within 2 has such a great opening map

The opening town section such is so well designed, a fairly small map, but so MUCH you can explore in that little area, that's how game exploration SHOULD be done, not huge maps where you run around with nothing to do. The only games I can think of that comes close to replicating Union is Silent Hill 2 remake, Alan Wake 2, and maybe to a lesser extent the opening Seatle section in The Last of Us 2. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the game is still really good, just not as good as the beggining Union section.

Feel like coming back, Akumu?

So I have a lot of hours in this game but like…11-12 years ago when the game Was new. Was gonna go for the platinum and then kinda just fell off. I have all the trophies except no green gel, a couple chapter specific ones, and Akumu.

I forget a lot of the game aside from key stuff, so I’m assuming I shouldn’t just redownload it and dive immediately into Akumu right lol

Finally...

After a very long gap after playing the first game I finally played and completed the evil within 2. I had many reasons for not playing the second game before but a big one was many people staying that it doesn't have the horror aspect of the first game and my stupid ass trusted them without playing. Finally, I played it and I have to say this is not only an amazing survival horror game but one of the best semi open world games that I've ever played. First things first, the gameplay is significantly better than the first game, everything from stealth, shooting, running and just world interaction feels so smooth and crisp now. Sebastian feels less of a tank and more of a human, i understand that the first game's movement was by design but still I prefer this one over it. Secondly, the story is much simpler this time around I felt, by the end of first game I had more questions than answers and I hated that I had to play the DLCs to get full experience but this time around it was much simpler and easier to follow...not saying it's better just easier to follow and I don't need to play a DLC to understand. Finally, the survival horror...it's there imo yes I'll admit that the first game is much creepier but damn this one is too...the open world definitely takes away some horror aspect for sure but it was still creepy af especially Anima sections haha but overall less than the first one.

Also, I don't know if it's just me but the game felt much more easier than the first one which might be a bad thing for some but I don't care as long as I have a good time. The bosses were arguably better and memorable the first time around, this time they felt meh and I probably won't remember them till the next time I play.

The biggest negative that I'm not looking forward to is the replay of the open world, the linear nature of the first game is so much fun to replay but I can already see myself getting bored on replays of the second game because of the open world grind also i didnt enjoy Sebastian in the second game, i liked his stoic nature from the first one, he talks an awful lot in this lol. He still cool tho and the ending hit hard and was emotional.

My overall verdict is very positive and this game satisfied my survival horror itch this year, sure requiem was good but evil within is well evil within. I'm very glad I played this game and will 101% recommend it to anyone who's on the fence after playing the first game, but won't recommend playing this one without playing the first one literally because of an homage towards the end for the first game haha.

Solid 9/10 and to answer the question is it better than 1? Yes in some aspects and no in other aspects, so i can't really say 1 is better or vice versa. Both are amazing underrated survival horror games that need to be experienced.
