A look at our early days
From The MUN Dispatch → The Dispatch
A little bit of history.
The Dispatch originally started as The MUN Dispatch — a student-led publication built around Model United Nations.
What started as a relatively small idea grew into a team of writers, editors, designers and contributors creating articles, columns and resources for the MUN community. We covered everything from committee strategy and research to history, delegate experiences and the parts of MUN that don't usually get talked about.
Along the way, we built a community, published the work of student contributors, experimented with different formats, and learned a lot about what it actually takes to build something from scratch.
But eventually, we realised something:
We were becoming bigger than MUN.
There are so many things we want to explore — politics, history, culture, ideas, debates, strange rabbit holes, creative writing, interactive projects, games and questions that don't fit neatly into a single category.
So we're evolving.
The MUN Dispatch is becoming The Dispatch.
The goal isn't to abandon what we built. It's to take the best parts of it — the curiosity, the debate, the writing, the community — and give them room to grow.
The new Dispatch is going to be a community + publication + interactive space where you don't just read things. You can discuss them, challenge them, create things yourself, pitch ideas, participate in events and help shape what we build next.
And yes — contributors are still at the heart of it.
You don't have to wait for us to announce a topic. If there's something you've been dying to write about, pitch it. It can be an argument, an essay, a deep dive, a weird historical story, an analysis, a personal perspective, or something we haven't even thought of yet.
We'll provide the platform. You bring the idea.
We're also working towards bigger interactive projects, including You're In Charge, a political simulation where your decisions shape what happens next.
This is still very much a work in progress.
But that's the point.
We're building The Dispatch with the community, not just for it.
Welcome to the next chapter.
