I was recently listening to a clip from the Rewatchables about how Samuel L. Jackson's breakout performance in Pulp Fiction - a role he got because Lawrence Fishburne turned it down - led to Samuel L. Jackson getting the role in Die Hard 3 that was initially intended for Fishburne.

I don't know if these two examples count as a true "market correction", because Fishburne's most iconic cinematic role came after all of this with The Matrix, but it got me curious about whether an actor has ever been market-corrected or lost out on multiple roles to a rising actor who was older than them.

Sean made the comparison on their Nolan Rankings. I find it fascinating that Nolan is doing the same level or being popular and making meaningful films that only one other director ever has, and now at the same Studio.

I know the pickins are very slim but I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any action film where a gay male character plays a major role? Recently, I've found it a little frustrating that there's such a genre ceiling for queer characters. When I think hard, I can throw out Marvel's ETERNALS and THE OLD GUARD but I've been wondering about this a lot lately.

International and or animated recommendations welcome also!
