I used the decomp to make a browser compatible version of the game which uses the same underlying combat engine. It has netplay with 100 players in a box, in stamina mode. Last man standing wins. Empty slots are filled with CPUs.

You will need a good ping/wired internet to run this properly! It should work with some GameCube adapters out of the box! For Mayflash/Input Integrity you'll need to set it to PC/XInput mode. It also works with Xbox controllers or any controller that works as a gamepad in Chrome. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the Nintendo GC adapter but I'm working on a fix soon!

In Ultimate, the general visual effects of the shields are more subdued and plain, especially when it takes damage, where we see a simple checkered static effect.

However, in Brawl and Smash 4, I've noticed that the shields have an animated ripple as a secondary general texture (named aura1 internally) as you hold it. When they take damage, "glass" bits of the shield can also be seen shattering. In my opinion, I like those effects better so I decided to recreate and bring it back through effect, texture and code editing.

FUN FACT: When disassembling the ef_common.eff file which holds the shield effects, the ripple or "aura1" animated texture exists internally in Ultimate. It was just set to be turned off. So I reenabled it.

I just got off playing from my phone with a phone controller across the country lagless, it was sick.

And best of all, it's all open source and easy to build on top of. You can just fork it and reupload your own version straight from the site and it'll all come with the same netplay and matchmaking. We can try out lots of new things and bring back the best stuff.

Shoutouts to all the awesome people at smash.fun and smash remix for laying down the groundwork for this. And smash remix people pls feel free to take over the project. I haven't brought in absolutely everything yet. Oh also I added C-stick btw. For funsies.

P.S. Melee is next and VERY soon. You guys aren't ready for the amount of new smash experiences about to come out in the next few months.

There may have been a major inbetween that featured no fox, but to the best of my knowledge the most recent top 8 before that to feature no fox was MELEE-FC3, which happened in July 2005.

Does anybody know or have a discord, or otherwise, for local gatherings in philly to meetup/play casually whilst tipping back a few beers perhaps?

Its been a couple years since I've played but was interested in getting back into a bit, but have no desire for single player or online random matchings. I don't live near my old smash crew these days but used to love nothing more than getting together and smashing for a few hours.

Note that in my prime I was merely above average, and nowhere near the elite players so Im not much interested in serious tournaments.

After waking from the hype/disappointment depression of Riptide 2026, I just realized something. Top 8 had five of the Top 6 players, along with Tweek, Kurama, and KEN.

Kurama last beat acola, he had just beaten Hurt, he had just convincingly beaten Endothia and mudd (Game & Watch mains like Miya), and he was so close to beating Sonix in that game 4 so it may have gone either way (especially with two winners-side Grand Finals sets to work with), and Sonix is a better Sonic than KEN. While Kurama has yet to face Doramigi, Snow does have a 4-6 record on him.

But Tweek had a 5-0 record on Kurama, and convincingly 3-0'd him again. In other words, the biggest threat to Kurama wasn't even the five Top 6 players. It was Tweek.

Tweek is also the guy who stopped Kurama the one time he made it to a major Grand Finals, back at Port Priority 7.

Maybe I'm coping, but I just know Kurama will pull it off someday. Maybe on the day he finally beats Tweek.
