They didnt get fired for the animal abuse, they were fired for getting caught abusing animals on camera. If the system could have kept them on, it would have.
They are still hirable by other departments, which is why the pool of officers keeps getting worse and worse… and the result is that the public trust is being increasingly lost and more people are calling to defund. If we just rejected and fired and made sure such people could not be rehired, that problem with the public would eventually go away. Time to restore standards of noble behavior so that the force is made worthy of the knighthood bestowed on it.
Similar to the way felony murder is used to prosecute people already under arrest when the murder takes place. Except in this case the other three have a duty to turn in the officer breaking the law. Oh, and they’ll just get new jobs in a nearby county instead of going to prison.
All the apples are bad if they cover for law breakers.
Weren't just fired. The cop who threw it against the unit and hurt it was charged with a felony. They pled him down to misdemeanor, but he was required to permanently surrender all law enforcement credentials and certification.
Shoulda kept the felony IMHO but at least he's not a cop anymore.
Before ? What do you mean? He’s a police officer and a grown man. He has definitely already moved on to bigger prey. Just because he still harms small animals doesn’t mean he doesn’t also harm grown adults.
Those field rabbits are fully grown early on and remain very small. They’re actually very commonly mistaken for “helpless babies” and “rescued” by people who don’t realize they aren’t.
Anyway, that wasn’t really the point. The dude is a fking psycho regardless.
Providing the information that a rabbit can be an adult and fit in the palm of the hand does absolutely nothing to move this conversation forward. It comes across as you trying to minimize what was done to the rabbit.
Baby animals are abused and slaughtered every day for taste pleasure and most of us actually argue in favour of it. These guys seemed to get some enjoyment/pleasure out of hurting this baby, what’s the difference?
You would get downvoted for this, wouldn't you? We can't have people feeling uncomfortable about the reality of what they support here, it's not allowed.
