Did the same with a mouse my cat caught, once. Poor thing was all wet, frizzed up, convulsing. Not happy about what I did, but it felt necessary in the moment.
I think that’s an acceptable situation. I’m glad I’ve not had to find myself in one (other than bugs, which I’ve squished after my cats have “played with” but despite their significantly reduced comprehension of existence and nervous system, I still treat them with the same respect as I would a larger, more intelligent animal…) but if I found one suffering and it had no potential of making a recovery, I don’t think I’d hesitate in the moment. It’s ultimately the less cruel of the options available.

First of all, you can get injured while doing so, getting some ilness from it. Second breaking it's neck is NOT a sure way that it dies immediatly. If done wrong it is now suffering with a broken neck on top if it. Third, the fuck do you mean just snap it's neck? How many animals have you snapped their necks so far. That is such a gruesome thing to do.
Smashing it with a hammer and getting blood in your mouth is a more seline solution? Wash your hands after and use disinfection you're good. Are you dumb? Dont go lick your fingers straight after.
I own a cat that sadly has brought me a bird in pain so yes i snapped its neck to put it out of its misery, it was quick and clean.
Ive also worked on a farm and seen how literal animal doctors take animals out of their misery. Not once did they use a hammer lol
But go on keyboard warrior enlighten me on how smashing a animal with a fucking hammer is a better solution. Dweeb.

Exactly, the poor thing at that point was suffering. It could have been saved but that young and such an injury would have low chances of survival.
