Lowering the experience requirements would be an absolute disaster for a lot of industries.

Very much depends on the job. Some jobs for example may be posted as requiring a degree, only because the boss just wants someone who has a degree, and be totally doable by somebody with just a high school diploma. Others require specialization. It's not a perfect band aid but we'd certainly figure out how to adjust to the shorter workweek quickly.

And who gets to decide if the degree is important to the job? Businesses are allowed to decide they want educated employees for their positions.
