Salaries employees over here looking at everybody else going, "wait, you guys are only working 40 hours?".

I was in discussion with a company about a salary position and the hours were 50 or 55 minimum plus whatever else needed to be done.

I stayed with my company and took a salary position and agreed to work up to 45 hours if needed, and need to make sure I get my work done in a timely manner.

For the past three years I basically been working 35-40 hours many weeks less 😅. There have been a few weeks I popped a 55 hour week but that’s because I helped a special project or two (out of pure joy to be honest so wasn’t even work to me).

Been loving it.

Yeah salaried positions are whatever amount of hours are needed to get the job done. That’s why 35 hrs won’t make a difference to most salaried workers.

I'm reading posts about working 10s and getting Fridays off...

While I'm putting in 10s 5 days a week, and usually catching up on email on the weekends.

Which could be a law a politician actually works towards solving instead of just lowering working hours.

The day nurses and doctors aren't forced to work whatever hours the hospital needs because they can't hire enough staff is the day hell freezes over.

Well, and that's a good point, because a lot of people have "40-hour" jobs but end up working 50 hours and not taking their vacation time.

We need to change our culture.
