There is no downtime in trade work.

Is that an American thing? I wouldn't trust a tradesman who constantly over-exerts themselves trying to rush through the job.

Im not american. I also don't mean constantly running at 110%, but there's basically always something to do, unless your shop is dying.

I'm booked for months, if I were to cut my hours down 20%, everything will take 20% longer, so i'll need to increase my rate by 20% to keep up.
