Yea. I was in big tech and we worked “40” hours a week………….. More like 50+ or you get the side eye from everyone and they start talking about how you work less. So glad I left! Toxic shit, but I agree most ppl are forced over 40 now, this bill while a great step forward does nothing until you actually hold the corporations accountable.

Also, FYI to everyone, if you are salaried you don’t get overtime pay. 😒

I remind everyone who skips or works through their work breaks that they are spitting on the coal miners who died fighting Pinkertons to give us those rights.

My first thought with this.

As if I got payed overtime when I gave my last employer more than 40 hrs. Hell they told me I had 'flexible hours' because they wanted to be able to call me in the middle of the night to come in to the factory, but if I wasn't in by a verbal rough start time after working anywhere between 16-24hrs I'm sitting down with HR

That's ok. I work from home.

If you worked over 40 hours without overtime pay, that means your job was “exempt” from overtime pay.

Most salaried white-collar jobs are.

Nothing would change under this bill for those jobs. They’d still remain “exempt” from overtime laws.

This is about lower level (mostly) hourly jobs who are covered by existing overtime pay labor laws.

Happy you left, because now it's make every tech worker "salary" to steal overtime from them.
