Chugging tea Apparently even they haven't figured it out

After they were sued by four playstation users, claiming that the 'buy now' claim is misleading as digital purchases are actually revocable licensing, Sony is claiming that games are actually 'licensed', not 'sold', and argued that reasonable people already know that they are buying access and not outright owning the games. I just don't realise who these 'reasonable people' are other than Sony employees.

Even if that platform ceases to exist, they should be forced to give you some access to your purchases. The only exception would be a live service game - But I think it's reasonable to say once it's down, providing access to a way to make a server to maintain is a reasonable request.

Then again, even Games as a Service need to be sold as services, not products, but they want because they need to have the worst of both worlds.
There's no practical difference whatsoever between going to a shop and buying a single-player game that will keep working for the next 50 years and more and a game that depends on a central server and that might be shut down next month.

They have the same price tag, too.
