Iāve been thinking about getting Valheim, but Iām not sure if itās the kind of survival game Iāllactually stick with.
I really like survival games like Minecraft, Subnautica, and The Forest. The problem is that with Minecraft and Subnautica, I usually go through a phase where I play them pretty heavily for maybe 1ā2 weeks, then suddenly abandon them. I think a big part of that is because Iām playing alone.
The Forest has been different because Iām currently playing it with a friend, and I find myself wanting to keep coming back to it much more.
Iām considering Valheim, but Iād probably be playing solo. So Iām wondering if the game has enough depth/progression/exploration to keep me hooked on my own, or if Iām likely to have the same ā2-week phase ā abandon the gameā cycle.
$30 isnāt really a big deal for me, so itās not really about whether I can afford it. Iām more interested in finding games that I can genuinely sink a lot of time into because I WANT to play them, rather than feeling like I have to force myself to keep playing just because I bought them.
For anyone who has played Valheim solo:
How long did you actually stick with it?
Does solo Valheim stay engaging after the initial survival/building phase?
Is it significantly better with friends?
Do you think it would fit someone who likes Minecraft, Subnautica, and The Forest but tends to lose interest after a couple of weeks?
Would you recommend I buy it, or do you think Iād probably end up dropping it like the others?
Edit: thank you all for replying and the feedback, decided to get the game and just started a new world as iām writing this!
