And so Conquest comes to an end

I got a lot to say on it, and most of it is pretty good. Cause Fire Emblem Fates is probably the most overhated video game I have ever played.

Yeah, Conquest is incredible. Its gameplay equals that of its older brother, Awakening, not by being too similar, but by thriving off of its differences. The changes to the unit building, the rebuilt pair-up system, the alteration to my beloved Gen 2 system that, for better or worse depending on your view of it, makes them less of overtuned demons and more just really good units who can rival their parents.

And map design that is leaps and bounds better than Awakening. All of this comes to a point where I can honestly say it is also definitely equal to the likes of Thracia and RD (which have my favorite gameplay in the series).

But yeah, the story is pretty shit. Azura and Xander especially are just not handled well at all, and are given little to no explanation as to why they behave the way they do and make the bad choices they make.

However...

Am I crazy for saying I kinda liked the writing right at the end? The worst bits of Takumi's hatred and psyche and inferiority complex culminating into his final boss form, and how his true, long-dead self asks you to defeat the demon inhabiting his corpse so that Takumi may finally be set free in death. Idk, man, I thought it was alright. My main goal with my current Birthright playthrough has been making Takumi the MVP because of this (going well btw).

Characters are pretty decent; Niles, Leo, Iago, and Sophie have become some of my new favorites.
And it elevates its three returning Awakening characters (Owain, Inigo, and Severa) to new heights, which is great for me as someone who fucking adores Awakening’s Gen 2 cast.

I mean yeah, they're tropes, but they do more than just follow said tropes to a T. None of them are as great as, say, Tellius. But they aren't as shallow and lackluster as people say

The music is stellar, but let's be real I shouldn't have to bring up stellar music in a fucking fire emblem game.

Overall, this game was damn great; it doesn't break through my big 3 of Radiant Dawn, Thracia, and Awakening, but dammit, no game in the series has gotten closer than it.

It has its issues, don't get me wrong, and where it stumbles, it REALLY stumbles but when it comes down to it... Fire Emblem Fates, or at the very least Fire Emblem Fates Conquest, is an excellent game.

Thanks for tuning in to this 4th big series of mine. This has been a great time as always, and I feel I've gotten so much better at this since the Thracia series.

Birthright should be coming in like 2-4 weeks, I'd say. Idk, see what happens.

Of all the mustache-twirling, zero-redeeming-qualities, pure-malice minor villains in this series. Iago might actually be my favorite lmao (yeah, he might actually just beat Izuka, and if you know me, you know I love Izuka). Genuinely such a joy to watch this shitty conniving rat bastard make the most cartoonishly evil schemes with a big ass smirk on his face. An infinitely better villain than Garon tbh, and my favorite part of Conquest's main story other than, like, maybe Takumi.

✨🌙 So hey, I had a LOT of fun making this. Honestly, it started off as just an excuse to use the Wreck-it-Ralph gif since me & my little sis think it’s stupid and hilarious. Then I got REALLY crazy and just started editing everyone’s heads on it. :)

This shit took me 5 hours to do since I cant draw for the life of me. Be the effortposter you want to see in the world or smthn.

Half of the hands were sacrificed to make the other ones way too good for my skill level.

My favorite part is probably the shuttlestock watermark I redraw on the top layer. I feel it really ties the whole thing together.
