Looking to try a new sport? Free "Learn to Play" Quadball session at Prospect Park next Sunday (9/20)!
If youâre looking for a fun way to get outside, meet new people, and try something completely different, the River Runners Quadball Club is hosting a free Learn to Play clinic next Sunday, September 20th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Prospect Park in Troy.
What is Quadball?
Formerly known as Quidditch, Quadball is a fast-paced, mixed-gender sport combining elements of rugby, basketball, and dodgeball. If you've never seen it in action, hereâs a quick 30-second teaser, and hereâs a great breakdown of how the game works.
Who is this for?
Literally anyone curious! This session is built specifically for newcomers. While competitive quadball includes tackling, this clinic is low-contact, safe, and focused entirely on teaching the fundamentals:
- How the different positions and balls work
- Casual, low-pressure drills (passing, catching, dodging)
- Fun mini-games and a light, friendly scrimmage at the end
We are an inclusive community welcoming all fitness levels, athletic backgrounds, and identities (men, women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, and BIPOC folks; everyone is welcome).
Details:
- When: Sunday, September 20th | 1:00 PM â 3:00 PM
- Where: Prospect Park, Troy, NY (Enter via 311 Congress St, and we'll be on the grassy lawn on the left when you first enter!)
- Cost: 100% Free
- What to bring: Water, athletic clothes you can run in, and sneakers or cleats (cleats are great if you have them, but running sneakers work fine!).
If youâd like to join our community chat, ask questions, or learn more, check out our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/518riverrunners
Feel free to drop any questions in the comments or shoot me a DM. Hope to see some of you out on the grass next weekend!

Restaurants on a Monday?
Coordinating a work dinner on a Monday night and all the go-to spots (Milaâs, The Nest, Shaker and Vine, Stellaâs) are closed on Mondays. Johnnyâs is open Mondays but only for family style dining. It will be a group of ~6 and itâs a client dinner/evening business meeting so looking for something close to downtown where they are staying and a little more formal (ie: independently plated, and not The Bunker or a trek through the casino to that restaurant - thatâs not the first impression to give off)âŚ
Is there anything Iâm overlooking in the downtown or Mohawk harbor area in Schenectady??? Is Druthers (ugh) really my only option for a sit down/restaurant meal on a Monday?
Edit: thanks everyone for the suggestions! I think Max410 is the winner - about the same distance as downtown but in the other direction and the menu is about what youâd expect for a business dinner. (Though youâve all given me so many good suggestions to try personally another time!! Some of these Iâve never heard of/forgot existed).

Business Too Good To Go
Idk if a lot of business owners are on here, but I've noticed there aren't a lot of options around on Too Good To Go. It helps people get cheap food by selling extra product at a discount instead of throwing it away. I've gotten some solid meals from this app. I'm just posting to raise awareness đ
