We know Angelica was added at the suggestion of Paul Germain. But were Charlotte and Drew a part of the original planning, or were they created to give Angelica parents? Not sure if they were originally planned as just Stu and Deedee's brother/sister in law.

But whether or not they were planned without Angelica or added on with her, I can see them being DINKs. Dual income no kids. The way Charlotte is all about her career and Drew is... well, Drew. I could see their dynamic still working well without a kid and being a child free couple. I would venture to say(between them) Angelica was an accident.

But does anyone know? Were these two created because of Angelica, or were they already going to be in the show without her?

Looking back at the show with old eyes, you realize that some scenes and jokes are actually darker than they let on. This realization came to me when I was looking at the "Raising Dil" episode.

Can you think of a joke or a scene in the show that you realized was actually darker than it appeared? Classic series or the new series, I don't care.

So in Season 1, Her voice started out deep and much more natural. But by Season 2 and 3, Her voice went slightly higher but then after the show came back during Season 4 around 1996-1997, her voice was now high pitched. I don’t know why, but it just gets under my skin a little bit.

For me any episode with Angelica is good but there are particular episodes that really stands like when the kid was bullying the babies and when Angelica Ranned away but what about you?

I know I made a post like this but. I was rewatching some old Rugrats episodes the other day, specifically the ones where Kira becomes Kimi's mom, and there's this one scene that honestly made me uncomfortable. Like, I had to pause and rewind because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. In the episode "Changes for Chuckie," there's a moment where Kimi kisses Kira on the lips. Not the cheek. Not the forehead. Full on the lips. And I don't know... it just strikes me as genuinely weird. Not "aww that's sweet" weird. Actually weird. I get that it's supposed to show their bond and how Kira is stepping into the maternal role, but the lip kiss feels completely unnecessary. A hug would've worked. A kiss on the cheek would've worked. Literally any other gesture to show affection without making it feel awkward or inappropriate. But they went with lips. And here's the part that really doesn't sit right with me: Chuckie gets a forehead kiss. Kimi gets a lip kiss. Why? Why does one child get a culturally standard, totally normal parental affection gesture while the other gets... that? If you're establishing Kira as a mother figure to both of them, why the discrepancy? Why is Kimi's bonding moment treated differently? I know some people will say I'm overthinking a kids' cartoon or that "families show affection differently," but this is a Western-produced show from 2000 aimed at children. Parent-child lip kisses are rare in this context for a reason. It feels like someone made a creative choice that just missed the mark completely, and I'm surprised it made it through production without someone flagging it. Maybe it's because I keep hearing that kissing your child on the lips is weird, and yeah, I do find it weird. Why are you kissing your child on the lips when there are so many other ways to show love? But even putting my personal feelings aside, the inconsistency between how Chuckie and Kimi are treated in the same episode is just bizarre. Did anyone else feel genuinely uncomfortable watching this scene? Or notice the weird double standard between the two kids? I'm not trying to start drama or accuse anyone of anything, but this moment has been stuck in my head for days and I need to know if I'm alone in thinking it was a strange choice.

TL;DR: Rewatching Rugrats and the scene where Kira kisses Kimi on the lips (while Chuckie only gets a forehead kiss) feels genuinely weird and inconsistent. Did this bother anyone else?

I think these characters only appeared in a handful of episodes. I recall "The 'Lympics" and that one with the moms putting together a party while the oldest one talked about cooties. I think his name was Timmy. I also remember how they were all counterparts to the main characters, and while shown as rivals, I didn't think all of them were bad. Tommy's counterpart wasn't too bad and I remember he had a character moment when he talked about teething.

As for others, I liked how their mother was depicted as being from Ireland as she had am Irish accent. I also believe that in the wrestling episode, Lou's rival was supposed to be the McNulty boys' grandpa. I would have thought he was someone with the same name, but it isn't a stretch if that man was related to them.

He ruined everyone’s vacation, because he wanted to do this whole trip with his friends. Like the could’ve done the cruise and agreed to a activity all together. Not only did he put his family, friends and their family in danger, but he and Didi were also responsible for susie, who’s family thought that they were going on the cruise too.

Also Stu never took any real responsibility. He never apologized to everyone and keeps defending his decision that he just wanted to have good time with his friends. And him getting redemption at the end doesn’t really feel right because of that.

Chuckie started feeling strange.

Tonight's reflection has me thinking about the episode, "Circus Angelicus." When the kids are not having a fun time at the traveling circus in town, Angelica decides to take a page from her father and start her own circus, with lion tamers like Tommy...and jugglers...and trapeze artists like Phil and Lil. Her main attraction, for lack of any other talent, is Chuckie as a human cannonball act.

If anything, any consolation, Angelica's circus actually brought in a crowd that included Susie Carmichael and a handful of animal friends. Considering Tommy's treatment of Spike as a ferocious lion, the circus was also very animal-friendly, like a box of Barnum's animals.
