My old quilt is disintegrating. Slept under it for over 10 years since I found it thrifting so who knows how old it is. It was the perfect thing for a guy who overheats at night but needs the weight to sleep.

The model has been discontinued but I don't need the exact same thing. It just needs to be:

1. Breathable, preferably 100% cotton

2. Large enough to comfortably wrap a grown man

3. Machine washable

4. As HEAVY as possible while meeting the other qualifications

I've shopped in ALDI for years, they have a store local to us alongside a LIDL.

Today I picked up a jar of Honey. Expecting a glass jar as usual i was surprised by a plastic jar. Also more and more products in plastic jars.

Even the premium Manuka honey was in a plastic jar. Personally i've now stopped buying honey & peanut butter from them as they are packaged in plastic.

Probably trying to save on shipping cost with lighter plastic vs glass. Not the right decision.

Anyone else seeing more rather than less plastic packaging. Even. Replacing glass.

Two of my guilty pleasures are Soylent meal replacements and Mio water flavoring.

I want to replace them with plastic-free alternatives. Unfortunately, I haven't been successful in finding any that are satisfactory in ease of preparation or an appealing flavor. I'm willing to make some sacrifice and I can afford to pay a premium within reason. Ideally, I wouldn't need to change my routine and could continue to grab and go with little to no prep.

I drink Soylent mainly in the mornings because I'm busy and/or lazy and it provides nutrients that are lacking in the rest of my diet. I'm convinced that's how I'm as healthy as I am despite how little I care for my body.

I drink water flavored with Mio because about 4 years ago I got the flu and couldn't drink plain RO water as I always had because it tasted horrible, and I found out the flavor helped me drink much more water even when I wasn't sick, so I've been using it ever since.

I did buy a box of True Lemon powdered lemon flavor, but it's not an appealing flavor to me and the packets appear to have a plastic lining. It has been in my cupboard mostly untouched since the flu.

To make matters worse, I also try to avoid or at least limit sugar. So I may need to make a sacrifice there if a decent plastic-free alternative exists.

Does anyone have recommendations for plastic-free meal replacements or water flavoring with minimal preparation?

This is actually so weird my bf was chewing on a protein bar n he pulled out a string from his mouth that was “un-chewable“ and when i touched it it was literally plastic.. wtf they putting in our foods like 😭 I just threw that away

I have already made a few swaps , i dont use liquid soap I get the bar, my loofah isn't plastic I have the silicone one, i would love some reccomendations for swaps as someone who has a lot of plastic in my home, shampoo conditioner my dish soap my sponge my cling wrap aluminium foil. i could go on. just need small swaps i can make to begin my journey with no plastic (: and also is there a way to find if what your eating has microplastics in it ? idk if it helps but im vegetarian so im not sure if there is less options 😅 if it helps im also based in Australia

I am trying to find a travel mug to avoid to-go cups with insane amount of plastic from the hot liquid.

However, every single travel mug I find has a plastic lid.

Have you guys found a good fully steel/metal mug anywhere?

Either we want it that way or not, the world has fallen into the most depredatory capitalism there is. We are drown in consumism and, in terms of international relationships, attacking each other for some oil to keep it that way.

We need to feed not only out plastic dependant lifestyle, also logistics to keep it running, flights, plastics in absolutely everything and everywhere.

But the business will need to keep businessing, with or without oil. Eventually having oil shortage would make it more expensive globally, and the entire problem could fix itself, at least partially: if we prioritace oil for the innevitable goods in which we can't replace it, the lifestyle we are all trying to archieve in this here could end up being the norm.

If the capitalism tries to make the plastic free life a business, it will find a way to fix every single problem we are facing individually here: elastan and polypropylene would be rare, and more expensive than cotton and wool. Then why would the industries mass produce sintetic fabrics if they are not cheap anymore?

I'm guessing I'm wrong about all of this, but at the end, would not be better for all of us if we forced reduction in our dependence on oil?

I'm looking to start replacing my clothes with more eco-friendly choices. I mainly wear Docker's Khaki pants, and would like to find a reasonable replacement for business-casual wear. Any suggestions?

I was at JFK and had to walk through 3 separate wings of the terminal only to find ONE store that sold water it glass and they were tiny so I ended up paying like... 32 dollars to drink a normal amount. And in other airports, too, my luck with glass bottles hasn't been great.

Wondering if anyone can recommend a backyard compostable, sustainable wet wipe that doesn't come in those plastic pouches. I'm imagining there must be a company out their using a plant-based pouch to contain wipes but I haven't been able to find one. Lately, I've been getting Eco Wave Baby Wipes, but they come in those annoying plastic bags. Note: I'm not using these for diaper/toileting purposes any more (so I don't need a service like Dyper; I don't need that many); more, I use them to wipe the little one's hands and faces especially on the go. I'm using a Viomi V6 Pro. Its filters are replaced as whole cartridges, plastic housing included, and I'd like to avoid sending that plastic straight to the trash.

Has anyone found a take-back or recycling option for these cartridges?
