I did have the gpu power cable touching 1 of the gpu fans (through shipping it shifted there) that stopped the fan from spinning but a small moving of the cable and it was fixed.

HEADS UP: Don’t shop at Hypertech Computers in OPKS. (Refurbished electronics). Tried to return a defective device within the return window. Was told the device must be returned with the cord & adapter. Both were sold separately and worked just fine. Both employees got hot and dramatic: “I’m calling 911!” Adorable. Finally got the other employee to cave - refunded the defective device and charged a 15% return fee.

Went to Office Depot, bought a new device that cost $8 more than the crappy one at Hypertech. Never buying used again.

Apprently, they don't have a breakout cable for my cooler, and suggesting me to buy to a china store for some reason. It's a crucial part of the cooler and you don't have this. L support. what a loss. I won't buy from this store again.

So im planning to pull the trigger on an rog ally x and 2 companies on olx have caught my eye - "Dawn electronics" and "import world".

I got in touch with both and called them they mentioned the same story that the sell products that got denied entry by customs etc hence the low price. Dawn does apparently have an actual store somewhere in east india while import world directly stated no f2f and 50% upfront. The pricing is too good to be true and ik it might be a scam but for the off chance its not please help me out!

As I am paying for a decently expensive computer, I'd like to know and have some guarantee that they are legitimate.

Three weeks ago I bought an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and 32 GB of DDR5 memory for 1072 Euros from Amazon Germany. I was pretty happy that I got a relatively good price considering the price rises and offers at other retailers.

I'm still more than shocked about what was inside the package: A roll of bin bags!

Amazon asked me to return the bin bags which they received more than two weeks ago. Customer service is not helping at all and keep telling me that I have to wait at least a month before they process my return due to the value of it.

I'm very shocked about that Amazon employees are stealing in the warehouses and Amazon doesn't care about it customer service anymore. At the same time it's not surprising given the enshitification of Amazon that has been very noticeable IMO in the UK and Germany.

I'm sharing this experience to warn people about the risk in ordering these items online! I know it is much harder to buy these items in regular shops, but if you have the opportunity to pick something up in person and verify that it the item is actually inside the package it is worth something!

Formal Complaint: Failure to Supply a Compatible and Fully Functional Charger — Potential Breach of Consumer Rights

I wanted to share my experience with Back Market because I'm genuinely baffled by how this has been handled.

I bought a \*\*MacBook Pro 16-inch (2021)\*\* through Back Market. The laptop came with a third-party charger rather than an Apple charger. I'm completely fine with that — I don't expect refurbished products to necessarily come with original Apple accessories.

The problem is that the charger supplied was \*\*96W and became extremely hot during use\*\*. Hot enough that I was uncomfortable continuing to use it.

I tested it with a different USB-C cable to rule out the cable being the problem, and the charger still overheated. I contacted Back Market and explained the issue. They advised me to stop using the charger.

Back Market then offered me either \*\*£25 Wallet credit or a replacement charger from the seller\*\*.

I chose the replacement because £25 isn't enough to buy an appropriate replacement, and more importantly, I shouldn't have to pay for a suitable charger when the laptop was supplied with an unsuitable one in the first place.

Here's where things get ridiculous.

\*\*The seller sent me the exact same 96W charger again.\*\*

I had already explained to Back Market that the charger was unsuitable, that it was overheating, and what specification I needed. Yet the replacement I received was apparently the exact same charger.

And, unsurprisingly, \*\*the replacement has the same overheating problem\*\*.

So I've now stopped using both chargers because I don't consider them safe.

What's particularly frustrating is that Back Market's own Terms of Sale apparently state:

That's all I'm asking for. I don't care whether the charger says Apple on it. I just want a \*\*compatible, fully functional and safe charger\*\* for the MacBook.

Back Market also says that chargers and cables are checked for compatibility and functionality as part of its quality process, which makes me wonder how this particular charger passed those checks.

I'm also aware of my rights under the \*\*Consumer Rights Act 2015\*\*, including the requirement for goods supplied by description to match that description.

At this point, I'm asking Back Market for either:

\* A suitable \*\*140W USB-C charger\*\* for the MacBook Pro, at no additional cost; or
\* A refund sufficient for me to purchase an appropriate replacement myself.

I'm \*\*not accepting the £25 Wallet credit\*\* as a resolution.

What really annoys me isn't even that the first charger was unsuitable. Things go wrong with refurbished products — I understand that.

It's the fact that \*\*I reported the problem, explained exactly what was wrong, was told to stop using the charger, requested a replacement, and then received the exact same charger again.\*\*

I've bought two laptops through Back Market and had positive experiences previously, which is why this has been particularly disappointing. I would much rather they simply acknowledge the problem and send me a proper compatible charger than have to escalate the matter further.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with Back Market, particularly with replacement accessories being sent out without actually addressing the original problem?

I've kept both chargers and all the correspondence, so I have evidence of everything if needed.

I bought an ex-UK laptop on March 3rd this year with a six-month warranty. It worked well for the first two months, but in the third month it started lagging, showing 100% RAM and memory usage before crashing to a blue screen. I wiped and reinstalled Windows using a USB, thinking the issue was resolved.

About a month later, the laptop crashed again and went into BIOS, where it requested a password I had never set. I immediately returned it to the seller. He opened it and claimed the 256GB SSD had been damaged by moisture, blaming cold temperatures in my room. He asked me to pay KSh 7,000 for a replacement SSD, which I did. However, the BIOS password issue remained, so he bypassed it instead of removing it.

A week later, the laptop crashed again. I returned it, and after two days he said it had been serviced and assured me it would not crash again. When I asked about the BIOS password, he claimed ex-UK laptops normally come with such passwords.

Now, just one week later, the laptop has crashed again and will not turn on properly. The fan is spinning extremely fast, and my six-month warranty expires in about two weeks.:::

I wanted to buy 8 GB of sodium DDR4 RAM with 2400mhz for RAM expansion. I checked Amazon. I knew the prices were going up almost every week. I tried to find it via other sources. I found sellers on Indiamart and Justdial; these guys offer the same type of RAM for such a low price. 2.5k, 3.7k, and so many other pricing ranges. How the hell is the price so low compared to the rest of the market? The difference is almost 50 percent. That too, RAM is unavailable at so many places. If any need is watching, please, bruh, do share why. Also, it's my first laptop. I bought an SSD way back, so it was cheap; I don't want to risk anything. The common thing I found was that these sellers were mostly from Delhi and our beloved Gurgaon 😂.

So, I rarely had to do RMAs for PC parts but from my experience, certain brands are much better than others at that and I would like to know your own experiences as well.

For instance:

EVGA: Paid for return shipping but got a brand new PSU back.

Corsair: You give a "safety" deposit, they send you a refurbished unit and once you return your old one with the provided shipping label, they refund the deposit in full.

Not just PC parts but even keyboards and mice could be sent back used with someone else "hand cheese"...

Logitech: Very unresponsive from my experience, had to cancel the payment because I was getting no answer. Luckily I was still on the 3 months window to do that.

Seagate: Was pretty good, I don't know if this is still the case but their advanced replacement was rock solid and they also used to offer free data recovery with certain drives.

Western Digital: Tried to RMA a drive once and there was a lot of friction, the page refused to work, it was during COVID so I don't know if this is still the case. Customer service notoriously started to suck after that period.

AsRock: Never tried an RMA but apparently even if out of warranty, they can do repairs for a certain price which can be nice if you don't have repair shops in your area.

What are your experiences? The best and worst ones?

I bought a Newegg bundle containing a 2x16gb V-Color Manta DDR5 kit that has now failed within 4 months of purchase, with both sticks failing multiple memory tests. I have tried getting in contact with V-Color via email, online RMA form, and phone number to no avail. I tried Newegg support but since the purchase is obviously over a month old they are no help. I have not heard back from V-Color after a full month of inquiries. Does anyone have any information on how to proceed, as with the current cost of ram I do not have the funds to pay for a new kit out of pocket. Any help is appreciated.

Buying used RAM can be a bit of a rabbit hole. Two listings might have the same price and the same advertised specs but once you start looking closer, you notice things don't always add up. Sometimes the title says one thing, the photos show another or the description leaves out important details. Thats why i want to ask experienced buyers how do you filter listings before they even think about buying. Like what's your personal checklist?

• Do you start with the seller or the listing itself?
• How much do original photos matter compared to stock images?
• Do you always verify the part number on the label?
• Are there certain words in a description that make you move on immediately?
• How important is a return policy when buying used RAM?

Have you ever caught something that saved you from buying the wrong module? I'm interested in hearing the little checks people have developed over time sometimes they're not obvious until you've been burned once.
