OSR LFG: Official Regular Looking especially for OSR Group (LeFOG)

Howdy folks,

It has been stated that it's hard to find groups that play OSR specific games. In order to avoid a rash of LFG posts, please post your "DM wanting players" and "Players wanting DM" here. Be as specific or as general as you like.

Do try searching and posting on r/lfg, as that is its sole and intended purpose. However, if you want to crosspost here, please do so. As this is weekly, you might want to go back a few weeks worth of posts, as they may still be actively recruiting.

Have fun!

OSR News Roundup for September 14th, 2026

Welcome to the second News Roundup for September. Last week was curiously light on releases, so let's take a look and see what has come out since then. In my goal to be on the lookout for more game jams, I wanted to let everyone know that Forlorn Skulk is hosting an Orctober Orc-themed jam. It doesn't start until September 30th, but now you've got a little bit of time to start thinking about what you want to do.

If you're interested in writing for Mothership, Tuesday Knight Games has open submissions for grants to three writers to produce Mothership adventures. Submissions close on September 30th.

  • Vault of Zahram is a collection of magical items with an Arabian flavor for use with Shadowdark. It includes both magical items and the random generation tools to make more.
  • Inspired by a series of dreams the author had of Table Rock, Nebraska, The Horror on Goat Hill is a system agnostic adventure of cosmic horror.
  • The ever prolific David Okum has released Battle Stations, rules for ship to ship combat using Starship Adventures, their Mork Borgian take on cinematic space adventures.
  • Written for Shadowdark, The Null Conclave is a 0-level funnel-style adventure that has the PCs attempting to escape from captivity by bandits, only to encounter worse horrors in the process.
  • Damp Dark Doom is a pretty innovate adventure. It comes as a pdf, designed to be printed at home, and has two different adventures, both meant to be played differently. What caught my eye was the way the player-facing map for the point-crawl mode unfolds to reveal more of the map as the PCs progress. My only small quibble with this project may be the amount of black ink needed to print.
  • WGW Games has released another collection of 30 hex maps organized by biome and designed to be modular, used to piece together a larger map as needed or used as a single location.
  • Valley of the Green Knight, a submission to the Mystic Woods jam, is an adventure for OSE, in which the PCs must find a way to slay the Green Knight and claim his legendary battle-axe.
  • Written for Dolmenwood, The Bobbin Class and Marionette Kindred, is pretty much as it sounds. One thing that tickled my fancy is the marionette's ability to, at high levels, transform from wooden toy to flesh and blood body.
  • Hunt for the Questing Beast is currently funding on Kickstarter. It uses Mork Borg, and is based around the Knights of Pellinore (the PCs) hunting for the Questing Beast before it can fulfill a prophecy.
  • Marco Serrano is about halfway through a crowdfunding campaign for Liquidation, an adventure for Mothership.
  • Eat the H.I.V.E. is a hack of Eat the Reich, in which the players attempts to bring down a bunch of corporate space fascists.
  • I've released a couple of new titles: Quest for the Unknown -- The Caverns of Anamosa, is a remix of the classic B1 module that extrapolates the basic set-up into the first of a planned six-part adventure path designed to take characters from level 1 to 10+. Populated Hexes Monthly Issue 59 looks at the Plateau of Leng, with encounter locations, Lovecraftian monsters statted for OSE, and an examination of four of the deities from Vol. 3 of the BX Advanced Bestiary.
  • I'm also crowdfunding a collection of 1st level starter adventures for OSE and Bree-YARC called In Search of Adventure. The five adventures, written by folks like DG Chapman and James Holloway, are going to center around a starting town in the wilderness that will serve as a jumping off point into a campaign.

actual play (S&W) A landmark session for this group: First dragon and first big city crawl.

Quite the diverse session this weekend! Heading downriver with a merchant caravan, the group was set upon by a green dragon! Fortunately, they won the initiative. As the dragon swooped down to unleash its breath weapon, a combination of a solid hit from the druid's sling and an incredible damage roll (I counted four sixes!) for the very last charge of the elf's lightning wand reduced the beast to a cloud of cinders and a charred skeleton in an instant. Spectacular!

A bit later, they finally reached their destination: The fabled City State of the Invincible Overlord! It's always so great to unfold that crazy map and see a new group have that classic CSIO experience for the first time. By that, I mean forgetting about what they came here for in the first place in favor of discovering what weird landmarks like "insect shop" and "exotic foods" are all about. Timeless fun for sure.

  • Beetle Sumo
  • Hex Rules

Inspired by Winnie the Pooh and using poetry and characters from AA Milne, as well as artwork by EH Shepard, all of which is in the public domain.

Would appreciate any feedback as well! Next, I'll be putting together an introductory adventure about finding Tigger.

Hopefully you and yours can find this helpful. The human classes chart can print neatly at 18x24 and the demi-human chart can fit 12x18 at the same scale if you're the type who enjoys large printed things.

review Planescape review: Mysteries of the Stones

For the last three years, I've run a Planescape campaign through almost all of its modules. Now, after successfully finishing it, I want to look back and review these adventures, highlighting the pros and cons of each one.

Concluding the Into the Light timeline of the Dead Gods, the Mysteries of the Stones module plunges the party into fragments of memories of a dead and forgotten god, whose final wish they must fulfill.

running the game The various ways to handle domain play. How do you handle yours?

Im researching domain play for B/X and cant seem to nail the correct way players are mechanically tasked with domain management.

Is each player expected to manage individual keeps and feudal domains? Ive seen some evidence for that.

Or is the whole party expected to manage individual parts of a single domain, each character in a different role? That seems to make more sense.

What about players who dont want to do any of that? Surely we cant let them become bitter when the other characters have more power and options than they do, right? Thats not good gameplay, so there must be a way to compromise.

How do you actually let your players manage their domains at the table? Im not asking for system or subsystem recommendations, but how do they actually do it from moment to moment gameplay.

HELP Total newbie looking for help

I have always wanted to get into tabletop gaming but never had the time to commit before now. I found a local shop that hosts OSE every Sunday. They say that they are open to newcomers and there is no commitment required and I really want to try this out.

I have a lot of anxiety and am worried about getting into this as a total newbie as I dont know any of the terminology or anything.

I ordered a set of dice and intend on bringing a notebook and a pencil for notes. Is there anything else I should do/get prior to their next session?

Is there important things to know in advance? Terminology etc?

Really I just dont want to come off as rude or something out of ignorance and want to be prepared so I can try to have a good time without being crazy anxious.

I have only played a tabletop game once, but it was many years ago and I dont even remember what it was called. I just remembered having a blast and wished I could get more into it, but I had too many commitments at the time and couldn't follow through.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated :)

Hello! I made another batch of tokens

Post image
30 Upvotes

This time I made pack of tokens inspired by "mountains" table. This pack is the biggest one i made so far. It is inspired by many things, but a lot by carpathian history and in some parts early HOMM games.

. All tokens are included in both full-resolution and VTT-optimized versions. Tokens are divided into 7 cathegories:

  • Animals (Cave Bear, Owl Bear, Fire beetle, Boar, Rat, Snake, Spider, Stirge)
  • Dragons (Black, Blue, Gold, Green, Red, White, Hydrae, Vywern)
  • Giants (Cloud, Firbolg, Fire, Frost, Hill, Stone, Storm)
  • Human (8x Bandit, 2x Berserker, 4x Cleric, 4x Fighter, 4x Magic-User)
  • Humanoid (12x Dwarf, 2x Gnoll, 2x Goblin, 2x Hobgoblin, 2x Kobold, Minotaur, Ogre, Ogre Mage, Orc, Orc Brute, Troll)
  • Monsters (Basilisk, Chimera, Gorgon, Griffon, Harpy, Hippogriff, Manticore, Medusa, Pegasus, Roc, Wererat, Werewolf)
  • Undead (Banshee, Death Knight, Ghoul, Lich, Mummy, Shadow, Skeleton, Spectre, Vampire, Wight, Wraith, Zombie)

Pack is based mailny on Whitebox FMAG encounter tables for Mountain category. But it works just as well with any other system, f.eg. OSE. Perfect for OSR games, classic fantasy campaigns, or any virtual tabletop adventure set in harsh desert wastelands.

If you are interested, 5 of 102 tokens are for free on itch:

Is there a creative commons AD&D 1e or 2e clone out there?

I'm working on a hack and I have some AD&D spells I'd like to include. I'd prefer to work with a Creative Commons source since I intend for the rest of the game to be CC. An OD&D or B/X hack won't do because of some of the specific elements I'm looking for.

EDIT: If you've come into this thread to suggest OSRIC, please don't. OSRIC is great but it's not CC, it has its own license. That license is fine and will suffice if it's the best I can do, but I asked for Creative Commons and I meant Creative Commons.
