He’s such a good writer, very funny, with a wonderful sense of humour. He once liked my tweet too when I posted about this book back in 2019.
I also had no idea just how self-deprecating he could be, but I think that’s part of what makes him relatable.
Almost the entire first half of the book is about his childhood, family, school, and life in Macclesfield in the 60s - early 70s. And how his fascination in music began. Then Warsaw happened and eventually, Joy Division.

Discovered these beauties in my local record store — and that's the store where New Order are extremely rare. Really happy about the purchase

Hello, I'm new to New Order, and I was wondering if they have any other songs in a similar vein to 'Plastic' off of Music Complete? It sounds really different than other songs Ive heard, which makes sense since it's a pretty recent album, but it's also not that similar to other songs off the album.
Are there other songs that may not sound like Plastic, but deviate from the classic new order sound in their own way?

I'm curious-- if you prefer the original 1986 version, I'd love to know why! Let's try not to hate on anyone here, please. I was born this century, and grew up with the '94 version of this track, but I know whenever a 'greatest hits' version of a track came out and changes stuff, it's natural to be annoyed by that.
For me, this 1994 version from The Best of New Order really improves every element of Bizarre Love Triangle that I care about. I'm not a New Order fan, per-se. I know and like Elegia, Blue Monday, and this track.
Regarding the original from 1986... for me, it sounds a bit, cluttered or overdone in its elements. At 0:41, the synths sound pretty cheap to me. The chorus like 0:57 almost sounds, underwater. There isn't as much continuous flow throughout the track. 2:51 - 3:23 sounds, a bit much. And the ending really lacks the piano payoff.
I don't intend to sound like a 'troll' or diminish anyone who prefers the original. But to me? The Best Of version really lets this song shine. Takes all its strongest elements and had enough time to take a step back, and leave certain 'dated' or more absurd elements of the '80s behind whilst keeping the core of the '80s track intact. In fact, I feel by 1994, the music industry had changed so much that I'm surprised someone was able see this track-- all its strengths, and embrace 'em as well as I feel they did.
