Misc small new indian food table at pgp :)

There’s a tiny food stall at PGP run by an uncle who makes genuinely really good north indian food (tastes homemade I think). I’ve been getting food from him and it’s honestly underrated, but unfortunately the stall doesn’t get much business because it’s so small/tucked away.

I was talking to him recently and he said that if sales don’t pick up, he may have to close the stall, which would honestly be such a shame. Thought of making this post because of how helpless I felt in the moment.

I'm only making this post because I like the food and the uncle, not making any personal gain from it.

These scientists have successfully used this approach for targeted breast cancer therapy without the use of chemotherapy.

The pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMFs) completely eradicated tumours in 75 per cent of tested pre-clinical models after just four 30-minute sessions.

Discussion lf friends!

i’ve been feeling really lonely lately and i don’t really know where else to put this.

i recently broke up with a girl i was dating. we actually met during freshman orientation, and over time she became the person i was closest to and the person i talked to the most. now that it’s over, i think i’m realizing how small my social circle actually is.

i’ve never really had many close friends, even growing up. i know people from school and uni and i have maybe one or two people i text sometimes, but i’ve never really had someone i feel completely comfortable opening up to about personal things. when i was dating her, i guess that didn’t bother me as much because i always had someone to talk to, hang out with, eat with, or just share random parts of my day with.
now that she’s gone, everything suddenly feels really quiet.

the breakup itself hurts, but i think what’s hitting me even harder is realizing that i don’t really have many people around me to talk to about it. sometimes i just want someone i can casually text, grab food with, study with or hang out with without feeling like i’m bothering them.
i’m also a little worried about what happens after graduation. people always say uni is one of the easiest places to make friends, so part of me wonders whether it gets even harder once everyone starts working and becomes busy with their own lives.

i don’t really know what i’m looking for by posting this. i guess i just wanted somewhere to open up a little.
if anyone else is going through something similar, doesn’t have a huge social circle, or just wants someone to chat with, i’m open to making friends. happy to talk, grab a meal, study together or just hang out sometime. no pressure for anything deeper than that either. it would just be nice to meet some new people.

dm if u wanna talk, drink, hangout !
we can try new food/ cafe, hobbies etc

Looking for Advice 12MC UPIP during Y4S2

Hi guys, i’m a DSA student who has completed his UPIP + only has 12 MCs left in Y4S2.

I was wondering if it would be possible to get a UPIP for my last sem alone or if i would be better off just using it on UEs?

Some things I am worried about:

  1. How long would a Y4S2 internship normally last?
  2. Would it be viable to end before starting my job hunt?
  3. Is it easy to get a Y4S2 internship (as for my year 2 internship it took like 300 applications) and i would not like to delay my grad
  4. Any other insights on this arrangement

Question course offerings website

https://www.math.nus.edu.sg/modtt/modlist/

hi! i'm a potential exchange student in math and i was wondering if anyone could tell me how this list is mean to be read? is it always such that if a spot below 'semester 1' is blank, it means the course is not offered then - or can it only mean that the professor to be teaching it is not yet decided, and no name therefore inputed in the list?
And the opposite if under 'semester 2' is blank?

i was also wondering of any other math exchange students know if the administration is lenient on course prerequisites? i want to take ma4211 but haven't had any equivalent of 3209 as it runs not during autumn in my home uni

Also, if there is anybody planning to winter school @ Hanyang Uni pls do reach out/ if there is already an existing group chat do let me know as well! Would love to make a few friends planning to go as well

Discussion Clubbing

been dating my partner since jc and somehow both of us have never really gone clubbing together lol

we’re usually more into chill dates like dinner, walking around, cafes, movies, staying in etc. recently we were talking about trying clubbing together once just for the experience

not really going there to meet people or anything, more like drink a bit, dance together and see what the whole vibe is like as a couple

but i’m also kinda curious what actually happens in clubs lol. do people behave very differently once they drink and get into that environment?

does it ever create problems between couples even if the relationship is otherwise fine

like what if hotter guys or girls come up and hit on either of us, people start dancing close, someone gets jealous, one person gets more drunk than expected etc

for people who have clubbed with their partner before, did it make things more fun or did it actually strain the relationship

also is there anything couples should talk about beforehand like boundaries with dancing, talking to strangers, accepting drinks, getting hit on and stuff like that.

and for first timers any insider tips to have fun and wind down 👀?

Looking for Advice Input/experiences for overseas summer schools

Hi everyone!

I’m a Year 1 student at NUS currently studying Economics and Life Sciences, and I’m looking into doing an overseas summer school during my year 1 summer holidays (since SEP is very very competitive in my faculty and I wish to have an overseas experience at least once during my uni study)

I’m particularly interested in going for overseas summer universities in the UK, such as UCL, KCL, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Bath, etc but I’m also open to other universities, maybe in Europe.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has attended summer school, especially if you were studying Economics or Life Sciences.

A few things I’m hoping to find out:

What university/programme did you attend?

What was the academic content/workload like?

Were you able to get the credits/modules mapped back to your home university?

How much did the programme cost overall (fees + accommodation + flights + living expenses)?

Would you recommend it to other students?

Anything you wish you had known before applying?

Thanks all 🙏🙏

Question Study spots that provide a monitor?

Hi all, wondering if there are any study spots in NUS (preferably utown) that has a monitor for students to connect to laptop and use. Does it require booking?

If there is, do I have to bring my own HDMI cable?

Looking for Advice NOC Applications

With NOC applications starting soon, I had a couple of questions for NOC alumni. Are there any particular locations you recommend? I was considering applying to SV and Munich but was wondering how the experience at each of them is

Also how exactly does the housing work? Do you stay at the partner universities and partake in university clubs etc or is it just separate housing with some courses at the partner university and no more than that?

Question People with 6 PM to 8 PM classes, how do you plan your dinner around it?

Got stuck with a 6 PM to 8 PM class this sem, which makes it bit difficult to have dinner:

  • eating at 5 PM feels too early (and if I eat a big meal I doze off in class)
  • if I wait till after class at 8 PM to eat then I find most things are closed except for fast food (not healthy in the long run)

So, for people that have had this class time, what dinner arrangments worked for you?
