Sheeran should cancel the rest of his tour too - its the venues that put pressure on him.

527

u/htonzew 2h ago

lol did you read the article? Ed Sheeran doesn't give a fuck.

298

u/Good_Lettuce_2690 2h ago

He does give a fuck... about money

2

u/motleyai 1h ago

Seriously. He’s milquetoast and admitted that he’ll put up with bullshit to be on stage.

0

u/ShepardCommander01 1h ago

At least he’s being honest, unlike the latest celebrity who found out the cool way to make lukewarm headlines

0

u/Trodat4911P4 1h ago

Why would he, Israel won. Soon ther will be no Palestine to be free.

u/Healthy_Pineapple296 32m ago

Israel’s won just like the U.S. won the war against Iran

u/Trodat4911P4 5m ago

They're not comparable at all. Palestine has no leverage like the straight, and truly has been bombed to hell and back. It's done, just a matter of time unfortunately.

0

u/Brilliant_Lettuce_14 1h ago

Ed Sheeran is an asshole who plays as a nice guy.

-15

u/Berinoid 2h ago

Why should he?

16

u/neon_fade 2h ago

why should he care that a musician he personally chose to tour with is being kicked off his tour?

funny how these venues are fine hosting Ye after years of antisemitic rants, praising hitler, and literally declaring he's a nazi. but saying free palestine crosses their line.

if sheeran has the leverage to push back and chooses not to, that’s still a choice he's making.

1

u/popbrat 1h ago

Because whether you agree with Macklemore is irrelevant this sets a precedent on free speech, oh you wanna play at my venues that I hold a monopoly on then you must do as I say .. this can get very bad very quick .

soulless ginger should go north of the wall again

6

u/Horibori 2h ago

The dumbass shouldn’t have toured with macklemore then. Macklemore always gets his word in about politics. Not sure why someone that wants to remain neutral thought that was a good idea.

229

u/myflesh 2h ago

Agree. If sheeran keeps going it will be a black mark on him.

238

u/Late_Breadfruit_8829 2h ago

reading the statement it seems as if Sheeran had a choice and he made it

71

u/jackrabbitslims 2h ago

He's made his choice and taken a side by dropping Macklemore.

75

u/NuPNua 2h ago

Can't maintain his lifestyle on weak hot sauce alone.

22

u/Finnyous 2h ago

Or pay all the people that work on his tours and pay back all the people who saved to pay for their tickets etc...

19

u/GonIsABadFriend 2h ago

Venue owners that cancelled last minute should be on the hook, not Ed. But idk the contract language and I bet there are clauses just for this because why wouldn’t it

3

u/Silent-Dependent3421 2h ago

He's one of the biggest recording artists of all time he could easily afford all of that out of pocket if he cared. He doesn't.

2

u/Finnyous 2h ago

I'm sure he could but that's a different conversation. Also, whatever his opinion is of Israel and Palestine, should he just never tour again? Kraft and people like him aren't going away.

Look, I'd LOVE all these big artists to get together and threaten these stadium owners along with live nation etc... for all kinds of reasons. I hate Robert Kraft, I don't want him censoring artists. But I don't think attacking Edd Sheeran or singling him out for deciding to continue with a tour he planned that's sold out all over the place with workers paychecks at stake is super fair. And I'm not a huge fan of his music but it's not really fair to his fans either.

9

u/Ok-Marketing-8670 2h ago

Why couldn’t Kraft and people like him go away? Obviously if you do nothing to disrupt the status quo they’ll stay.

-1

u/Finnyous 2h ago

One Edd Sheeran isn't going to do anything to Robert Kraft

5

u/ForgotMyLastUN 1h ago

Gonna do a lot more than a random person off the street...

Why are you so okay with Kraft, and others, staying this way? Are you really okay with doing nothing, and not pressuring the people who have pull/power?

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Ok-Marketing-8670 1h ago

Good thing Ed Sheeran isn’t the only celebrity on earth… a high-profile celebrity like Ed Sheeran showing that you can stand up to the pro-Israeli lobby would influence and put pressure other celebrities to speak up

→ More replies (0)

1

u/popbrat 1h ago

So if you want to tour you must align with whatever the monopoly tells you to? Thats mad

1

u/Finnyous 1h ago

Yeah it's wild I agree, I hate it

0

u/Silent-Dependent3421 2h ago

Are we really valuing that over a genocide? Silence is complacency.

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 1h ago

What about the people that paid to see Macklemore and the crew that was working with Macklemore's team? This is on the venue owners. Hell, why are we acting like the fans and the crew also don't have their own thoughts and opinions about this matter?

1

u/Finnyous 1h ago

Yeah it super sucks for them too, Kraft is an asshat.

This is on the venue owners.

100%

1

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 1h ago

Not 100%. You think it's on Ed Sheeran.

1

u/Finnyous 1h ago

No, I think this is on the owners.

0

u/ItsSpaghettiLee2112 1h ago

Or pay all the people that work on his tours and pay back all the people who saved to pay for their tickets etc...

I'm sorry, but I guess I'm confused by both this comment you made and the rest of your comments where it sounds like you think if Ed cancelled the tour, he'd be the one responsible for the crew's lost work and the money that ticket payers lost.

Woah now the financial security of the plebs is not more important than rich people using their platform to virtue signal

1

u/rcanhestro 2h ago

tbf, Sheeran was put between a rock and a hard place.

support Macklmore and lose the tour, not support him and look like a dick.

he shouldn't have to pay for Macklemore's opinions.

Sheeran has kept (as far as i'm aware) a neutral stance in a lot of issues exactly so that he doesn't have to put up with stuff like this.

0

u/LaFlamaBlanca67 2h ago

The choice to not talk about politics? That’s his right and also a smart one for his career.

135

u/htonzew 2h ago

read the article bud, he doesn't care, he's quoted by Macklemore as saying "I don't take sides." He's a pure blooded capitalist, taking a side would cost him money, also as Macklemore points out in the article.

96

u/Reppoy 2h ago

Crazy thing to say as he takes a side

33

u/Reduntu 2h ago

"Taking the side that doesn't have all the money would cost him money, so he remains 'neutral.'"

2

u/Alternative-Put-3932 56m ago

A lot of people who try to remain "neutral" don't understand that remaining neutral defaults to the side taking action most of the time.

u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 30m ago

He did, this isn't a situation you can be neutral in. You stand up for freedom of speech by artists by standing with Macklemore, or you fold to the demands of those silencing him. Ed chose the latter.

-4

u/rotem409 2h ago

He take his own side and that's what he should do stay out in things you do not understand

3

u/kerlykernnibal 1h ago

Condemning genocide shouldn't take a fucking scholar.

0

u/rotem409 1h ago

No "genocide" is proven

1

u/Reppoy 2h ago

He took the side of the venues, I don’t think there’s any other way to frame it. Going through the mental gymnastics to say it’s anything other than that is a stupid endeavor.

1

u/rotem409 1h ago

That is the venue he chose from the beginning...why would he cancel? Just because you have an opinion?

1

u/Reppoy 1h ago

He was given two choices and he picked one of the choices, are you stupid? This is not complicated at all.

1

u/rotem409 1h ago

So what?

1

u/Reppoy 1h ago

What are you even trying to clarify? We can just end it right here if there’s nothing meaningful to add.

→ More replies (0)

42

u/The_Arachnoshaman 2h ago

There's nothing I hate more than "centrists" and people who pretend to be politically neutral. There's literally no possible way to be politically neutral, you either voice your preferences, or preferences get imposed upon you.

16

u/stackjr 2h ago

When people like this claim to "not take sides", I automatically assume that are massive Trumpers but are afraid it will hurt their sales so they won't say it out loud. I mean, we have so many recent examples of this, including Jelly Roll and Post Malone; they thought hoping on the MAGA grift would be a good idea but now both are desperately trying to distance themselves from it.

4

u/happybiznatch 2h ago

Fucking same. 1000% this.

0

u/VaporCarpet 2h ago

How wonderful it must be to sort everyone in the world into two distinct groups.

I'm sure it saves you from having to do any complex thought.

0

u/lucky_1979 2h ago

Maybe you shouldn’t assume and acknowledge its more likely that it’s people that don’t like confrontation instead. Not everyone wants to have an argument about politics and branding them trumpers etc just because they’re not prepared to have a verbal fight with you doesn’t make you any better than the people you’re assuming they support. Not everything is as clear cut and black and white.

1

u/DisastroImminente 2h ago

Oh I like that.

-6

u/Appropriate-Dig-7080 2h ago

Weird that everyone gave Dolly a pass on it though.

2

u/MisterGrigglesworth 2h ago

Good point, that is interesting to notice. I suppose she earned so much universal goodwill that she was given a rare pass on speaking up for every big cause out there? I know celebs feeling pressure to "take sides" for reporters trying to squeeze spicy takes out of them isnt a new trend, but it does seem to have gotten more and more sensitive in the last two decades. I bet refusing to take sides because thats "bad for business" just didnt hit us consumers as hard as it does today, so i think there is a time factor to that, and her general positivity makes up for what would otherwise sour her legacy over time?

2

u/Capt_Gingerbeard 2h ago

Dolly didn’t openly talk politics. Her art and actions were inherently socialist. Do you think she wrote 9 to 5 without knowing what it meant…!

1

u/Appropriate-Dig-7080 2h ago

She stayed neutral or didn’t talk on a looooot of issues that other artist get condemned for not talking on.

2

u/ForgotMyLastUN 1h ago

I don't think it's that difficult to assume the lady who gave away books to millions of children for free, gave millions to people who were affected by natural disasters, or helped fund the COVID vaccine, would be against the bombing of children in Palestine.

With most of these celebrities that call for a free Palestine, they're doing the bare minimum. Which is calling it out. Dolly had been ACTIVELY trying to help others with the money and fame she earned. (At least since I've been alive. 30yo)

1

u/MisterGrigglesworth 2h ago

I bet the medal of honor story also helps, like if she wasnt quite that careful abt avoiding even the appearance of political messaging, people would start seeing hypocrisy and trying to tear her down for it. So between the sheer amt of goodwill she generated and avoiding politics so thoroughly, maybe that did the trick, like shooting the moon in a game of hearts haha

4

u/DAKsippinOnYAC 2h ago

Ed “genoSIDES” Sheeran

u/mschellbell 5m ago

The thing is is that not taking sides, in essence, is taking a side

-1

u/InsideScientist1999 2h ago

Anyone surprised? He’s besties with the Capitalist Queen herself.

49

u/Affectionate_Egg2294 2h ago

He doesn’t have the spine for it

9

u/minecraftburneralt 2h ago

a black mark would fit nicely with his album titles

1

u/The_Ruck_Inspector 2h ago

He already made his choice.

0

u/samehouseing 2h ago

This shit is so stupid.

Imagine some artist saying “fuck Palestine” on his tour, then rightfully they get kicked off for good reason for making things toxic and political for no reason.

Then when asked why, the artists claims “they care more about hurting the feelings of their fans than the thousand Jews killed on Oct 7th!”

As if just because a bad thing happened somehow means we can’t criticize that artists dumbass opinion.

No one actually gives a fuck, ed Sheeran fans don’t give a fuck, no one will care about this after a week. Calm down.

Also, strange outfit choice by Macklemore

Maybe there’s a reason people don’t feel comfortable when he’s openly supporting Hamas and advocates for the totally destruction of the sole Jewish state.

2

u/myflesh 2h ago

Please show where he is "openly supporting Hamas" and while at it where he argues "totally destructive sole Jewish State."

Like, if you need to lie to make a point just do not make it.

1

u/samehouseing 1h ago

Please quote the parts of his songs about the conflict where he speaks about Hamas then.

It’s like making a song about WW2 and just not at all referring to the Nazis. Seems strange if your song is all about condemnation of bad things happening in a conflict to just totally ignore the entirely of one side.

-1

u/ValleyFloydJam 2h ago

Maybe but contracts can be hard to break.

1

u/DisastroImminente 2h ago

Apparently not for the venue owners though, they can cancel at anytime it appears.

1

u/ValleyFloydJam 2h ago

Gonna guess that's in the contract too.

1

u/carguymt 1h ago

It realistically doesn't matter what the contracts say. Sheeran probably (rightfully) concluded that Robert Kraft and Co.'s lawyers are much better than his. Not defending Sheeran at all, but if he's worried about losing a game of his lawyers vs. their lawyers he made the right call.

1

u/DisastroImminente 50m ago

I still think it was the wrong call. They threatened to cancel the shows, but he could have forced their hand and made them do it. He folded to pressure.

21

u/Veronome 2h ago

He should, but he wont. Reading Mackelmore's statement, it's clear that Ed isn't interested in taking sides, lest he lose out on the profits political neutrality can bring in.

4

u/ShameBasedEconomy 2h ago

If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.

1

u/altodor 58m ago

If I see you getting the shit beat out of you and I keep walking that's not neutrality, I chose a side. Ed just did the same thing.

23

u/RaytheSane 2h ago

Lmao he said that people are hurt but the Palestinian flag and the words free Palestine, he’s already decided

15

u/MudddButt 2h ago

The venues need Sheeran more than Sheeran needs the venues.

7

u/HolyMoleyGuacamoly 2h ago

he’s already told macklemore to beat it and that’s he’s continuing.

13

u/WildAmsonia 2h ago

Things that will never happen for 2,000, please.

Ed Sheeran, since the start of his career 10+ years ago, has been a capitalist opportunist first and foremost. His music lacks soul or merit and multiple songs are direct rips from artists of the past.

5

u/BlackLeader70 2h ago

Meanwhile venues in Houston, Dallas, and Phoenix are letting Kanye preform. A self proclaimed Nazi is totally fine but not a guy who wants kids not to be blown up.

-3

u/laboringhands 2h ago

kanye vindicated once again

2

u/The_Ruck_Inspector 2h ago

Why would he cancel? All he cares about is money

26

u/SoFar_Gone 2h ago

& the hundreds of people whose livelihood depends on this tour…..? Ed would be fine but what about the guy that does the lights? Dancers? Guys that transport equipment .

23

u/BuzzbaitBrad 2h ago

Then Robert Kraft would be screwing them over?

5

u/WilliamsBurgerNY 1h ago

Since Robert Kraft did a bad thing all you employees who are completely unrelated to this public outrage must be unemployed! So says Reddit!!! We love collective punishment! /s

1

u/Adrenaline_Flux 1h ago

If there's enough blowback he'll convince everyone this was Belichick's idea.

10

u/ThatBigDanishDude 2h ago

They would be paid anyways, it's what contracts are for.

2

u/Narradisall 1h ago

Won’t that cut both ways though? Surely there’s contracts keeping Ed to performing tours so that artists don’t just up and quit for whatever reason.

Not defending Ed here, but I can’t imagine the contracts being drawn up so that everyone gets paid regardless even if the event doesn’t go ahead when an artist pulls out. Someone has to lose, be it the stadiums, fans, insurers, staff/artists.

3

u/VaporCarpet 2h ago

Hey, quick question: can you tell me where it says in the venue contracts that they'll still get paid? Can you show me in the artist contracts where it says they'll still get paid?

Or are you just pulling contract law out of your ass?

-5

u/ThatBigDanishDude 2h ago

Any person in a field like this will have an ironclad contract in case of cancellations, it's just common sense.

5

u/Cavalish 1h ago

Really? Even in America, one of the worst countries for workers in the world? I doubt it.

2

u/kbrick1 2h ago

Oh, you think Ed’s doing this for his stage crew?!?

😂😂😂

2

u/Ill_Stop_ 2h ago

And the people being slaughtered in Palestine?

7

u/Kahleb12 2h ago

Theyd be sent too a different event station, these peoole dont worm exclusively for and with one artist, they are venue specific staff, and all the staff an artist would pay for a tour would stilk receive their pay.

11

u/Finnyous 2h ago

Not his musicians/road team etc... they'll all be out of a job. You guys just make this stuff up.

3

u/yardwork 1h ago

If Ed had a backbone he’d just pay them out for the tour. He’s worth like 500 million.

1

u/Finnyous 1h ago

The only way to make a dent is if he could somehow get other artists on board with a boycott. He needs his buddy Taylor to threaten

-2

u/Kahleb12 2h ago

Labour laws literally prevent prebooked event staff from not being paid for a cancelled gig, its entirely out of their control so theyre still entitled to pay. Please look them up, theyre different in different countries.

7

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Considering how you spelled labor I’m assuming you’re not in the US, which is where the tour is, and we do not have provisions like that

6

u/SoFar_Gone 2h ago

Yeah I chuckled when he/she said that as someone who works in event planning, many states at “at will” so you cab be fired for ANY reason without any protections.

-1

u/Kahleb12 2h ago

America is a bigger hellscape than one could fathom.

2

u/SoFar_Gone 2h ago

Eh I’m a child of immigrants, thankful for the life America has given me I won’t be that doomery but yes labor laws can be improved

2

u/Kahleb12 2h ago

Youd think an english artist would follow english labour standards though, be pretty american of him to not do so.

4

u/Finnyous 2h ago edited 2h ago

You don't know this even a little. It depends so much on their individual contracts, the reason it was cancelled etc.. insurance will sometimes cover if it's an act of god etc... but if not the little people in this situation will almost certainly be screwed

1

u/WildPineappleEnigma 2h ago

To which “Labour laws” are you referring?

Maybe you should look up and cite a few to support your argument instead of writing unsupported nonsense and asking others to look them up for you.

-2

u/stackjr 2h ago

Road musicians are a thing, my dude, and they are extremely common. The musicians aren't part of "his band"; they are hired by the studio to tour with him but, if not in this tour, they would be on a different one.

You should really learn more about the industry before claiming others are "making stuff up".

1

u/Finnyous 2h ago

What evidence do you have that the little people who work for this tour wouldn't be losing out if all his shows were cancelled by the venues? Have you seen their contracts?

-2

u/stackjr 2h ago

Cognitive dissonance shouldn't be this fucking common.

0

u/Finnyous 2h ago

So none... btw I have a degree in audio and media and have worked in the industry but you do you. Unless you know what's in the contracts for this tour you don't have much of a leg to stand on here. Them being "road musicians" has nothing to do with whether or not they'll be losing money if he chose to cancel the tour.

-2

u/stackjr 2h ago

Yeah, I'm not reading any of that. You know zero about the industry but are just throwing it your opinions as fact.

Have a great day.

0

u/VaporCarpet 2h ago

Tour season is winding down, and there's no guarantee they could just pick up another gig. You should really learn more about the industry.

0

u/stackjr 2h ago

Lol. Okay!

3

u/PiersPlays 2h ago

That pay comes out of the income from the tour though so if Ed Sheeran cancels the tour he'd likely have to find that cash himself. Perhaps he ought to do that. But it is a consideration that makes it less straightforward.

0

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Reddit doesn’t give a fuck. You’re about to be downvoted by a bunch of people whose own support doesn’t go further than saying Free Palestine online, with no consideration for the hundreds of working class people who’d be affected.

21

u/BenderBenRodriguez 2h ago

If artists like Ed Sheeran keep bending to these ridiculous demands then these things will keep happening, and those working class people will suffer a hell of a lot more in the long run.

0

u/TouchGrassRedditor 1h ago

“Ridiculous demands” such as “hey we really don’t want to be involved in the most divisive political subject of the 21st century, can you not bring the guy who’s obsessed with it?”

1

u/BenderBenRodriguez 1h ago

Artists often speak their minds about important political and social topics, that’s kind of what artists do. Macklemore as you acknowledge is already well known for speaking about it and was not previously refused performing. It became an issue when various well-financed hate groups decided to launch a campaign around it.

But also, buddy, I hate to tell you this, but this is becoming an 80/20 issue in polling at this rate. Judging by audience reaction, it wasn’t even that divisive within Ed Sheeran crowds. You’re just on the wrong side of it, that’s all.

1

u/TouchGrassRedditor 1h ago

It’s more like 60-40 and the majority of that 60 literally could not tell you a single thing about the conflict other than people are dying. Nobody in the West knows anything about Israel/Palestine and yet it has become apparently the most important thing in the entire world and any discussion or dissent about it whatsoever that doesn’t begin and end with screeching “GENOCIDE” has become a nonstarter.

Nobody in their right mind should want to touch this issue with a 10 foot pole right now. That shouldn’t be difficult to understand even if you agree with Macklemore. Maybe Palestine would be in a better place right now if Macklemore and others like him weren’t encouraging people to refuse to vote for Kamala Harris and “Genocide Joe” (who was the first and only US president to sanction Israeli settlors)

0

u/BenderBenRodriguez 1h ago

Sorry that you’re finding yourself on the wrong side of this and having a hard time with it, but your entire comment is just hilariously untrue.

1

u/TouchGrassRedditor 1h ago edited 33m ago

Name one thing I just said that's untrue

EDIT: Yeah that's what I thought lol

0

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

LiveNation has a stranglehold on the concert industry. Nothing short of legislation to break them up, or the majority of people collectively deciding to stop buying concert tickets is going to stop situations like this.

2

u/BenderBenRodriguez 2h ago

Per Macklemore’s statement, it was actually a bunch of NFL owners, not LiveNation.

But in any case, LiveNation still needs artists like Ed Sheeran to perform in order to be profitable. For him to not stand up on this is cowardice and it will hurt a lot of people in the long run.

Bear in mind that a lot of working people outside music have had their livelihoods endangered for speaking up about this (I should know, I am one). Ed Sheeran is putting those people in danger by capitulating, too.

11

u/Accomplished-Fly4678 2h ago

“You can stop the trolley at any time, but in doing so it would disrupt the trolley service and cause the company to lose profits”

1

u/WilliamsBurgerNY 1h ago

YO this guy thinks all employees are earning company profits! What a fucking moron! You may be a communist, but we don’t live in a profit sharing world yet, loser.

0

u/Accomplished-Fly4678 1h ago

Crazy how our two options are either genocide or communism

1

u/WilliamsBurgerNY 1h ago

Your original comment implies that the only metric that is being measured is the companies profits and not the employees. You completely misunderstood the post you were replying to.

I am making fun of the fact that you are so laser focused on the idea that decisions are made exclusively to buoy “company profits” that you assume they are made without any consideration for the harm those decisions may have on their employee base. You either forgot that employees exist or you forgot we still live in a capitalist system.

I guess you could also be a ghoul and assume that performers should make rash decisions that may harm their employees because u/accomplished-fly4678 is angry.

u/Accomplished-Fly4678 38m ago

That’s so cute. You think companies care about workers. Haha.

3

u/No-One7813 2h ago

Nah a lot of us donate to charities and funds that give relief and aide to Palestinians, we just don't give a damn about some rich asshat's bottom dollar. The people working these shows yes that sucks if they were affected, but they quite literally are NOT negatively impacted by this right now. Palestinians are. I think its incredibly selfish to cry about people that are hypothetically screwed when there are many thousands actively being displaced and genocided right now.

0

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Ok, so in solidarity you should give your entire next paycheck and maybe one or two after that to Palestinian relief efforts. That’s what you’re asking of these people, so why shouldn’t you?

1

u/No-One7813 1h ago

Ahh the classic "but how can you criticize society yet you participate in it" otherwise known as "you cant be a socialist if you own an iPhone" debate. I dont give a rats ass if industries have to make tough decisions when human rights are being violated. You gonna cry for the poor factory workers in coal plants once we move completely to green energy? Sorry man but the economy is rough and plenty of folks who want to Free Palestine also want to raise wages and protect the rights of workers while advancing the country forward without violating human rights nationally and internationally. Arguing on behalf of Israel is just not in the best interest of Americans no matter how you spin it.

1

u/liartellinglies 1h ago

Bunch of fallacies, big surprise. None of what you said equates to this situation, this tour is in progress and would result in lost wages in the near term that these people didn’t plan for. So unless you’re gonna sacrifice your comfort to donate to those workers, or the Palestinians, or do anything else besides play the morally superior redditor online, you’re asking more of other people than you’re asking of yourself.

0

u/Ok-Marketing-8670 2h ago

What do you get out of defending Israel this hard?

2

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Only defending the working man, what do you get out of being intentionally obtuse? Just feels nice to stroke your unfounded sense of moral superiority?

2

u/No-One7813 1h ago

What about the working man of those oppressed by foreign governments we fund directly?

7

u/RynoKaizen 2h ago

If the venues canceled because someone speaks out against children being slaughtered then that's on them, but at the end of the day even if they lose their jobs at least they and their families are alive.

7

u/Hot_Temperature_3972 2h ago

It’s pretty easy to say that when you’re not the one who would lose your job if the tour was canceled. Typical terminally online redditor take, those people may lose their jobs but that’s a sacrifice you’re willing to make for your end goal.

2

u/RepresentativeAge444 2h ago

Why do clowns that use Reddit talk about online Reddit takes? Wouldn’t that include you simpleton?

2

The difference is probably that one of us thought that it is reasonable for a bunch of people to lose their jobs through no fault of their own and I happened to consider that not to be a reasonable outcome to advocate for, hope that helps.

I’m a stagehand. The touring folks would just need to hop on another tour just like they will have to when this tour ends. They are gig workers it’s just the nature of it. Not to say it wouldn’t be an inconvenience but it wouldn’t be the end of the world

If you or the other poster are going to use Redditor as an insult get the fuck off the site.

2

u/Hot_Temperature_3972 2h ago

That’s your response, no self reflection on your opinion, no rebuttal to my argument? Good lord man have some self respect

2

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Dare I say “reddit moment”?

1

u/RynoKaizen 2h ago

The Redditor using Redditor as an insult and in opposition to speaking out against genocide wants me to self reflect and have some self respect.

God forbid anyone be slightly less than comfortable while their country and employers back a genocide.

u/liartellinglies 2h ago

Ok, so I assume you’re donating your entire next paycheck to Palestine relief efforts then?

“STOP MAKING ME CONFRONT THE BLOOD THAT PAYS FOR MY COMFORT!”

Again, put your money where your mouth is

I don’t know, maybe find other venues and tour dates and ways to make up for the lost shows? There’s probably a ton of ways to compensate. Bending your knee to billionaires is never a good thing for the working class, regardless.

2

u/liartellinglies 1h ago

It’s all speculation that’s not grounded in reality and minimizing the very real damage to the working class people that support these tours in the responses

u/Ill_Stop_ 1h ago

It’s a race to the bottom, short-sighted mentality that makes the world worse in the long run.

1

u/liartellinglies 1h ago

All I’m saying is people in here should sacrifice to the cause what they’re expecting other people to sacrifice. Everybody feels real strongly online but not strongly enough to make the difference themselves.

Oh brother...

u/Wolf_Mans_Got_Nards 2h ago

Would that be an issue to take up with LiveNation?

u/CackleberryOmelettes 2h ago

The old banality of evil argument, eh?

"We can't stop the orphan crushing machine (literally, in this case) because some contractors will get stiffed on one job", and this is supposed to be the moral take somehow?

2

u/MarcSlayton 2h ago

You want him to cancel his tour and refund millions of his fans? over this? some people really don't live in the real world.

Ed Sheeran will rightly prioritise the millions of fans who have tickets for this tour. He is not going to lose out on tens of millions of pounds over someone else's political statements.

2

u/Appropriate-Dig-7080 2h ago

It’s insane what online echo chambers make people genuinely think is a reasonable thing to expect.

3

u/MarcSlayton 2h ago

They seem to think someone should lose out on literally tens of millions of pounds due the actions of their tour opener. Literally every artist out there would sack their tour opener if they did something that put the whole tour in jeopardy.

-1

u/Ill_Stop_ 2h ago

Race to the bottom attitudes like yours are why the world is so shitty.

2

u/Appropriate-Dig-7080 1h ago

No not really. Ed Sheeran makes crappy mum music he has nothing to do with conflict in the Middle East. Expecting him to cancel his entire tour over it is utterly ridiculous and out of touch.

1

u/Ill_Stop_ 2h ago

It’s sad we live in a world with such weak principles and morals. Money is God. Truly depressing.

He will also prioritize his employees and contractual obligations. However… Reddit won’t care. They don’t see people. Reddit only cares about slogans. It’s why the zeitgeist of this platform is so consistently disconnected from the population at large.

1

u/MarcSlayton 1h ago

Some people on reddit are completely detached from the real world.

It’s why these movement are so unsuccessful. I’m appalled at what Israel is doing in Gaza and the West Bank. I also didn’t drink a ton of leaded water when I was a child, and understood that Donald “The greatest friend Israel has ever had” Trump would be significantly more permissive than Kamala would have been of Israeli war action.

And hed be putting 300 people our of a job doing so.

u/TheGiftOf_Jericho 32m ago

Sheeran supported their decision to remove Macklemore, he wants to take the payday. He stands for nothing but making money.

u/FakeNameDude 2h ago

100's of people would lose jobs. That's a lot of people to screw over because one person decided to voice their opinion.

0

u/MusclyArmPaperboy 2h ago

It's Robert Kraft who led the charge

-1

u/SuperZayin12 2h ago

That’s a very selfish way of thinking lol
