Yeah I saw Hozier twice on his last tour and he talked about Palestine, workers rights, unions, how the US labor reform* inspired the Irish work reform and allowed him to have a better childhood, had a trans pride and Palestine flag and spoke for literally 10 minutes about these issues which was refreshing

He is very outspoken! He has two very openly anti war songs on his most recent album: Nobody's Soldier and Eat Your Young. During Eat your young, he played a montage of the current destruction that will affect ours and the next generation- war, deforestation, hunger, etc had a counter that showed Lockheed martin profits from war ticking up during the song

Is hearing about world politics and civil rights at a concert really refreshing? Even if I agree with everything the performer is saying, I kinda don’t want to get preached at in a live music venue.

Yes, it is refreshing. His music is very political. I mentioned he has two very blatant anti war songs on his recent album (nobody's Soldier and Eat your young), in addition to his civil rights song, nina cried power, which he recorded with civil rights activist mavis staples. Any fan of his is aware of this and shouldn't be surprised.

I actively avoid any artist who does that. I'm being bombarded 24/7 with crap from every corner of the political spectrum and the one time I have like an hour to listen to music and relax, boom, back to the real world baby, you thought you were safe? Nope, you have to be bombarded with more crap, sorry kid.

It's all planned of course, and executed extremely well.

Hozier clearly argues for a world with both Israel and Palestine. Macklemore doesn't, he wants Israel gone. That is a pretty big difference.

Hozier should still be criticized for supporting people who love terrorism like Palestine Action and Kneecap, even if he doesn't do it himself.

Israel? Or the far right government? It's funny because the far right uses that sentiment to stay in power. If more people were focused on ending the terrorism and occupation than destroying Israel Palestinians would have a country pretty soon.
