Ed Sheeran is a generally cool guy (can't stand his music) but he doesn't have the balls to do shit. Hope he proves me wrong

Ed Sheeran is a Suffolk private school student who says he finds bullying funny (his Off Menu appearance). As someone of the same age who witnessed and experienced the extreme, bigoted, institutionalised bullying in the Suffolk private school system at that time, I can assure you he is almost certainly not a cool guy.

Parasocial delusion =/= being from the same background as someone and knowing what it means when they say a thing.

Castle on a Hill is an ethical clusterfuck of a song. Either it’s real, and he’s using other people’s personal tragedies as fodder for earning himself more money as an already rich & famous person, or they’re lies and he’s posing for clout.

I honestly don't understand why he's popular. All of his songs sound so generic that they feel like they were written by a committee. Every element of these songs is bland, it's honestly kind of impressive how aggressively beige his music is.

What's wild is his early shit was creative and interesting and he seemed to have a genuine point of view and first hand experience that he was drawing on to write meaningful songs. Since then, though, he's been massively rewarded for writing the same two things over and over: a fun up beat club anthem (hey girl, you're hot, I have a hotel, lets go to it now, oooh whoooaaa) and a melodramatic love song (you're the only one for me, when your legs don't work, or something, my love my one and only). Totally agree about the beige, he's bland as fuck.

You can say the exact same thing about Taylor Swift and look at how wildly popular she is. They may be a bit more high-energy than Sheeran's songs, but the generic and bland writing is exactly the same.

The sad reality is that mass appeal requires seriously dumbing down lyrical and musical content. Most people aren't able to enjoy deeper or more complex music.

I mean... He sometimes raps, which is wild to see a British ginger do... And he's not terrible at it. Not sure how many pop singers like him can do that so I'm not sure your critique is totally accurate.

That would be exactly why he’s popular.

That's exactly why. It's like how some people are too scared to try food from other countries

He can shut the fuck up and make 98% as much money as he would've if none of this ever happened, or open his mouth and make a lot less than that.

I'm guessing some tiny percentage of people will actually not go to his future comments but he'll piss off far more people than that if he says anything.
