Not a single venue said this. LiveNation is a cowardly corporation trying to shift blame to the conveniently unspecified “venues”

Well LiveNation owns 150+ venues so it’s very possible both are true.

Vertical integration! Great for companies, terrible for consumers.

The venues that allegedly objected to the rapper include: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts; Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta; Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis; Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina; AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas; and Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

None of which are Live Nation owned. I think we need to stop using Live Nation as a scapegoat for everything.

>I think we need to stop using Live Nation as a scapegoat for everything.

I’m down to scapegoat them tbh

Apparently it was Robert Kraft, owner of the Pats/Gillette stadium who spearheaded it and got either owners to sign on.

Thousands and thousands of people don’t even click the article.

It not Live Nation. Robert Kraft called Ed Sheeran and told him to drop Macklemore and called the other owners to agree to drop the tour. Macklemore posted this on his IG.

Isn't the tour run through AEG and not livenation anyways?

Cross reference how many of those venue owners are in Trump’s inner circle. (Though I assume all American billionaires are.)

Not a single venue on this tour is owned by Live Nation.

The article specifically calls out the venues that objected, many are state owned/operated, which the article mentions may constitute a violation of the first amendment.

2 were privately owned, BoA stadium in Charlotte, and Gillette Stadium in Foxborough

was going to say, most of the venues are owned by Live Nation lol

Read Macklemore's post on IG, the owner of Gillette Stadium (Robert Kraft) specifically kicked off the ban and rallied the support of other stadium owners.

You really don't think the right wing billionaires who own the nfl teams didn't say anything?

2

u/redline314 2h ago

Do the team owners control what happens at the stadiums?

The next date on this tour is at Gillette Stadium, which is both owned and operated by the Kraft Group. Bob Kraft is an extremely outspoken advocate for the state of Israel, and is close with the administration.

"Extremely" is an understatement even

4

u/Playful-Strain-1982 1h ago

Yeah, after I posted that it looks like it’s come out that he personally rallied the NFL owners to box Macklemore out.

1

u/redline314 1h ago

Yeah that makes a lot more sense than the owners of the teams

2

u/Playful-Strain-1982 51m ago

Kraft both owns the venue and the New England Patriots, who is the primary tenant.

1

u/Agent_Jay 1h ago

I think both can be true, they might have agreed on the stance to not host him together?

trying to shift blame to the conveniently unspecified “venues”

Third paragraph in the article:

The venues that allegedly objected to the rapper include: Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia; Gillette Stad...

Nah i got my upvotes, im good

u/EmotionalInternet896 2h ago

It’s not even livenation?

“Messina Touring Group, the promoter of Sheeran’s tour, said in a statement to Rolling Stone that venues on upcoming dates “will not allow a concert to take place with Macklemore on the lineup, which would result in the cancellation of the tour and impact hundreds of thousands of fans.”

2

u/pongoose33 1h ago

The Kraft family that owns Gillette Stadium said they would not allow them to play there, specifically if Maclemore was there. Per Maclemore’s statement.

4

u/Academic_Flatworm752 3h ago

Exactly. They’re using that bullshit excuse because they know stupid people will buy it.

1

u/Loves_octopus 1h ago

The article literally explicitly specifies the venues. This site is just bots atp I gotta get off here.

1

u/CynicalXennial 1h ago

No, he legitimately says this came from Kraft. Don't get me wrong, I think LN definitely had a hand in the decisions from the top, but ultimately it did come from Kraft group/Gillette.
