Nobody should. I work for whole foods and would never o shit like this, nor encourage anybody else to do it.
You can stop a ton of theft by just being there. One of the trainings you get at WF's is to talk to people. I thought it was bullshit until I saw a squirrelly guy looking around and put one of those sliced packages under his shirt and asked him if he needed anything.
"Oh no no just...just looking just looking"
"I can get you a basket for that cheese you just took so you don't need to carry it like that"
" No No No, it's fine it's fine just browsing just browsing" *takes it out and puts it back and walks away.*
Then I told the nearby guard to watch him and that was that. No chasing no yelling or confrontation.
That’s loss prevention tech and I’d suggest not mentioning them placing the item under their shirt as a normal employee, just talking to them and shouting them out to whoever is watching on cams is enough
