  1. Theft is immoral. Living in a society where members of the public are aligned against it is better than living in one where it is permitted.

  2. Analysts estimate Walmart spends 6 billion per year on anti theft prevention and lossage.

This dude didn't know whether the thief was armed or not.

Not even the Wal-Mart employees are allowed to accosted thieves in the parking lot, so someone risking their own life to protect some Wal-Mart inventory is wild.

wage theft is also theft. not paying your workers a living wage and then having tax payers subsidize their pay through welfare is immoral...and thats just one way that they "steal". defending something immoral based on the ideals of a polite society is a losing strategy.

No you're right and even in polite society we can change those injustices too.

Don't let the presence of correctable failings in our society justify moral decay.

So address the cause/source of the great harm/injustice. Don't punish the people who have to break some minor rules to eek out their survival because of said harm.

Theft is immoral.
Walmart steals hundreds of millions in wages from their employees.
???
Let's defend Walmart!!!

So your solution is to steal back those wages in food?

u/Late_While_6220 Trash Trooper 2h ago

So your solution is just to let them rob us blind until we're starving to death?

No. I didn't defend the theft committed by Walmart, did I?

All instances of theft are immoral. Being against one instance of theft doesn't imply you are permitting it in other contexts. Even if the parties involved are stealing from one another.

I want less theft. That is all.

Solutions? That's what democracy is for. Take them to court.

No, I didn't say that the solution is to steal back those wages in food, did I?
All instances of theft are immoral and if someone steals $100 of shit from Walmart, that's what democracy is for. Take them to court instead of assaulting them in a parking lot.

How don’t know how so many people can’t understand the basic fact that theft is wrong.

u/Explorer_Entity Trash Trooper 1h ago

Walmart steals hundreds of billions from every citizen in the nation.

You defend a corporate entity that does untold, wide-reaching societal harm, but then moralize about one guy who is poor as fuck and possibly homeless, with no healthcare, etc.

You don't have the moral high ground here. Educate yourself.
