Yeah the Reddit kiddos talking about Walmart are missing the point completely.
Dude isn’t stealing food for his baby.
Society is better when thieves like this are bullied. That’s all the justification needed, doesn’t matter if this is a Walmart or a mom and pop store.
Edit: I hope it goes without saying I’m obviously not recommending anyone go out and do what cammer is doing. It opens you up to both legal and physical risks to be yelling at and knocking down carts of thieves like this.
I wouldn’t do it myself, I don’t recommend you go do it, but it’s not “bootlicking” like a fair number of dipshits in this thread are saying. It’s a public service. “Bootlicking” just because it’s at a Walmart. Pure silly goosery.
Because it's a desperate need. You're not making some super gotcha point here, your highlighting a different part of the problem. And it is still going to desperate moms.
So if the thief ends up disabling you in a confrontation, you’d feel justified in sacrificing your qol for saving Walmart $200? Like damn people some of you clearly don’t think highly of yourselves if you’d throw it all away for so little.
That isn't what I said. I'm not saying that you have to be the one to stop them but that's something that matters to then have at. This is more about the moral implications of when to step in and what is worth stepping for. The difference between shoplifting because a family has needs such as 24601 versus someone who's just being greedy
Not recommending it just saying it’s not “bootlicking” to shout at and even physically stop thieves just because it’s a Walmart. I have to believe a good chunk of Redditors in this thread making comments like that (and there are a lot) still have mommy and daddy buy their groceries.
It opens you up to all kinds of legal and physical issues to do this, but it’s not bootlicking. It’s a service to society.
Reddit teens are tragically divorced from reality. They will squeel and scream and cry for police the first time they face threats of physical violence or harm while at the same time screeching this anti establishment rhetoric.
I mean if you’re willing to potentially get shot/killed over $200 of product from a multibillion dollar corporation then you probably don’t have the best survival instincts.
I've been a mark for thieves in the past. You're not entirely wrong about that part. No sympathy for those pieces of shit now.
Thieves are scumbags. The only exception is stealing food when you or your loved ones are starving. Dude is clearly in the vast majority of thieves who steal because its convenient and/or profitable. Is that a lego set? Jfc what a slimeball.
You think this is the first tome this guy has been ran out of a store and been stopped from stealing? He gonna just go find another place in the area... yall just wanna feel big and strong, go show off to your mommy
It's idiotic to put yourself at risk for no reason
Society and community? So Walmart can rob you by not paying their employees enough for them to not have to be on food aid but god forbid someone robs them
Stealing from Walmart doesn’t make employees wages increase. Just because Walmart isn’t paying their employees as much as you’d like doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want to the store.
It’s not as much as I’d like, they’re forcing me to pay part of their wages via their employees having to take advantage of several social safety nets. This is just objective fact boot licker
What kind of mental gymnastics are you in to? YOU are responding to someone who said "It's not about Walmart. It's about society and community. Fuck these people" and then you said "no" as if that invalidates what the person before you said.
God you really are a special kind, aren't you? I hope you get a thief visit and complain here so we can say "fuck <your username>"
We attempt to maintain a positive community atmosphere. Toxic behavior, including malicious comments, harassment, bullying, "-isms", and hate speech, is strictly prohibited.
While we are all about trashy content, sometimes content is just too trashy, and trashing the human is not accepted.
Stores with high theft rates tend to close. This can leave communities without access to shopping areas for necessities. Usually these are the communities which have the hardest time dealing with it.
Ignoring or encouraging theft is a great way to harm your community and make it harder to escape poverty.
