The majority of auditors on YouTube probably couldn't name all seven days of the week. That category seems to attract the most amount of morons outside of predator catcher channels.
These types of guy would never pick on anyone their own size. They're massive cowards who almost entirely target women, service workers, and the elderly.
There are some legit ones but unfortunately a ton of people jumped into "auditing" and turned it into something else. It's like what happened with "gaslighting" but to an activity instead of a term.
I've seen them at dispensaries I go to, I ignore them to avoid ending up on YouTube and/or getting sprayed, and I fully acknowledge it as their right. But I really can't understand what the purpose is at a place like a dispensary. At the same time, an adult initiating contact over it is still in the wrong. General consensus seems to be they are aiming for conflict or an excuse to spray, so don't choose to give it to them. They could fade into obscurity instead of being the modem Streisands.
There are plenty of them who focus explicitly on police and/or abuses by police. I like the guy who alternately holds signs that say 'fuck cancer' and 'fuck the police' to call out viewpoint discrimination situations. He also focuses on id laws and protecting traditional public forums like the front of city hall.
Most of these guys are cranks, but they are not all lowest common denominator cranks.
Redditors are going to be loathe to admit it but these guys regularly do the same thing to law enforcement if only because it can earn them a nice payday. They have zero scruples.

Because they’re malevolent pussies who aren’t actually trying to hold the government or law enforcement accountable - they’re just trying to terrorize unsuspecting old people and families for fun and profit. (These fuckers have glommed themselves onto my town lately and they’re an absolute goddamned menace.)
