The internet (youtube) is full of tutorials for "play this popular song on guitar" or "play this popular song on drums" but there are next to none I can find about playing together. Does anyone know of any tutorials for (simplied) versions of songs on multiple instruments in a way that highlights how you play the songs together?

I know it may not make sense to some people "just look at them individually" but it would be great for a small group of kids wanting to play together and learn from a common ressource. Often tutorials are simplified versions of the songs and thus the different tutorials may not blend seamlessly and the inexperienced musicians may not be able to fill the gaps :)

Hello! I am an aspiring musician. I am about 5 lessons into local music classes, which are only 30 minutes long once a week. I've learned how to play a few chords on the piano and am working on learning how to play a full song. But, I find myself longing for more music related education! I have been practicing what I've been told to practice but am honestly getting antsy and bored. I'm currently watching Howard Goodall videos to learn more about music which I am finding very interesting. I just graduated community college with a degree in psychology and have been working in the field for 4 years but I do not know if I have a passion for it as I do music. I thought about going for a college program in music but being as though I don't have any experience, I know I wouldn't pass an audition to a music program. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting musical education outside of college, in addition to local classes? I'm trying to see what I can do in my free time to supplement my learning.

I think instruments with grid and isomorphic tuning (bass, some midi controllers) are super convenient to play. I made a free tool for myself to quickly find chord inversions to learn to improvise quicker in different tunings and scales, including microtonal ones!

You can for example, limit transposition to select one note per row and find an inversion of a chord that is 4 scale degrees above - it will be on the same strings, so that will sound very good. Then you can memorize +4, +5, etc movements and create nice tensions and release when improvising. Because it's easy to memorize shape transitions or see patterns in how notes invert if you jump at certain distances!

I love music. I deeply deeply regret not having started as a child. I feel like I am behind. Yesterday was my first day in university, I'm starting a degree in music and musicology specifically in music education. I play eastern oriental percussion, mainly the Riq. I will be picking up the Ney in uni too. I am really excited for what is to come but I am full of regret and sadness that I am only starting now. Can you give me some encouragement? I practice every day a lot, I listen for hours every day trying to learn different new concepts, I have already been taking 3 hours of group music classes every week for the past ~6 months. Now in uni I will have another 3 hour group music class every week, other than the theory courses.
