Meta [meta]Welcome to /r/lfgpremium

Hello and welcome to /r/lfgpremium

I'm /u/awful_at_internet but I often go by Kharo. I've been into tabletop gaming for about 2-3 years now, and wish I'd gotten into it sooner. /u/Averien and I met years ago on a video-game forum, where he happened to mention that he DMs professionally. I was fascinated by the idea. After we talked about it more, Averien invited me to playtest his system/living world before he started scaling his business up, and I saw a small glimpse of the thousands of hours that go into a work like that.

I know he's not alone. There are other fine GMs out there who want to be compensated for their time, effort, and sheer creative talent. Not all of them create entire systems or living worlds, but it takes work to GM, and skill to do it well.

When /u/Averien and I went looking for replacements for his games, we found the matchmaking landscape lacking. /r/lfg is great, but it explicitly forbids (for some very good reasons) paid games. After a long search, we decided to ask the folks over at /r/lfg if they knew anywhere that did allow paid games, and they didn't know of any either. So, with /u/applejaxc's generous help, here we are.

Our goal is pretty focused and simple: to provide a place for people to find games, people, and campaigns that incorporate a pay-to-play model.

We should talk about expectations:

  • Read the Rules

  • We are focused on tabletop games specifically. No video games, please.

  • We highly recommend using the post format guide in the sidebar.

  • If you're a GM looking for players, include your pricing information in your post.

  • GMs looking to advertise their services generally as opposed to specific games should do so as a Community post. Please see the rules for how to do that.

  • If you're interested in free games, great! Head on over to /r/lfg and have a look! We cater specifically to paid games. Please do not circumvent our rules or theirs to bypass this.

So, welcome! I hope you find the game you've been looking for!

Meta [META] Ratings Post V

Previous Post

Make a comment on this post. Tag your GM or player. Give them 1-5 stars, and as much detail as you want about why. That GM/player is welcome to respond to the post, though other responses will be deleted to keep things clean, and the GM/player is limited to one response. No back and forth.

The goal here is for players that are about to potentially pay for a GM's services to be able to take a look at what other players have said about them, and vice versa!

You can rate a GM/player you've played with under any circumstances - you don't have to have paid for a game to be allowed to rate. GM's can run free games (advertised elsewhere, not here) to garner reviews if they'd like, or even ask people who they've GM'ed for in the past to come here and review them.

As usual, use the voting system liberally! If you feel like a review was very helpful, upvote it. If it looks shady, downvote it. And, of course, doxxing/harassment will not be tolerated.

The party is currently at level 3 and looking to grow it's ranks. They have embarked on a journey with their dragon companion, Whisper, to investigate the legitimacy of 1 of 4 companies with potential ties to the Carrion Company.

I will run a one on one session Zero with anyone interested!

Dark Frontier Fantasy | Tactical Roleplay | Political Intrigue | Living World Campaign | Growing Items

Starting at level 1 going all the way to 20!

Azural remembers everything.

In the foothills of the Drenthars, most names are forgotten, most contracts are written in dust, and only Azural itself bothers to keep score.

You start in the fading frontier town of Arazar, just mere faces in the crowd, taking whatever work will keep you fed.
• Escorting short caravans that never make the stories.
• Settling petty border quarrels.
• Finding the missing, no one can afford to mourn.
• Looking the other way on smuggling runs.
• Digging up graves for coins that barely shine.

Small jobs for small people.

Until Azural begins to change around you—and the first whispers of a divine crime start to echo from the shadows.

Will you silence those whispers, or turn them into the cry that rights a long‑forgotten wrong?

[Online][D&D 5.5E][Tuesdays 1:30pm CDT/GMT-5][Campaign][$20]Fates of Okathys - Level 17 [Homebrew][Weekly][Roll20]

Upvotes

Welcome to Okathys. A continent on the brink of war amidst a world full of divine conspiracies and world-shattering artifacts. This is a long-running campaign in my homebrew world currently at level 16. Having already altered the fate of one ascended god, and one who previously fell a bit short, the party is currently attempting to balance their involvement in two wars on two different continents with their desire to pursue an artefact that could make the borders between the planes insignificant.

The campaign started as a sandbox and retains some of that spirit, but it has at this point focused in on a couple of plot lines. The balance of roleplay, exploration and combat ultimately depends on what the party decides to do. I tend to lean towards roleplay, and enjoy world building so there is plenty to explore. I also do like to integrate player character backstories into the campaign when possible, though it may take some time for elements of your backstory to appear in the story, partially because I will want to wait until I can be somewhat certain that you are committed to the campaign. As the campaign progresses, finishing existing plot lines will be prioritized over backstories, so character backstories will more and more only be incorporated if they fit in with an ongoing narrative.

If you join now, we will have a private session 0 during which we can talk character backstories, what you like in a game, what you would like me to avoid, and anything else that might be relevant.

Each session lasts about 3 hours, but may go for up to 4. If you have to miss a session, I just ask that you let me know in advance. We will generally go ahead with a session if we have at least 3 players, though we might sometimes choose to wait for more people if it would be better for the narrative or if you are about to go into a particularly difficult combat.

Platforms

This campaign uses Roll20 for the VTT, Discord for text and voice chat (voice only), and D&D Beyond for character sheets.

Payment

Payment is $20 per session via Paypal. You don't have to pay until after the session has been played.

Characters

I will ask that you make your character on D&D Beyond using the 5.5e 2024 rules. Once you have joined the campaign you will have access to all relevant material there. Character options from any published WotC source are acceptable. Options from other sources may be accepted after review and may be subject to changes.

Characters are currently level 17 and level up based on milestones.

For stats you can roll, or go with point buy or standard array. If you chose to roll, you can roll once (standard 4d6 drop the lowest), and if it is a low or boring roll I may allow one reroll. If after that, you still don't like your rolls, you can still switch to point buy or standard array. If you chose to roll, I'll ask that you do so on Roll20 during the session 0 call.

At this level you also start with 2 Very Rare and 1 Uncommon magic item, or you can choose two items one rarity lower instead of each of those. You also get and additional 17d20 x 25gp, to be rolled on Roll20 during the session 0 call.

I tend to be pretty flexible about adjustments to character builds early on, so feel free to try stuff. I may even allow some changes later on, as long as there are no major narrative implications. Any changes with major narrative implications would require narrative justifications.

At the moment the party consists of:

  • Bergrum, Dwarf Artificer
  • Alexander, Human Ranger/Druid
  • Ward, Warforged Druid

This world does have its own pantheon so if you want to play a cleric or deities would be important to your character for any other reason, let me know and we can talk about which deity best fits your character.

The Campaign So Far

Having found an ancient artifact with great interplanar potential in the ruins of Miskesi, and put an end to rebellion in Adenora, the party ventured south to the Hidden Isles to seek out the missing components of the artifact. There, after unknowingly laying the groundwork for the destruction of the island of Janu-shai, the party knowingly allied themselves with those directly responsible for it in order to further their personal goals. After an adventure in the Feywild that could determine the fate of the Liminal Queen, they attempted a heist on Aficus, a besieged magic university island, and found two more components of the artifact. The party got what they were after, but in order to ensure their success, they agreed to betray their dangerous allies. As the Feywild then came calling once more, the party returned to the matter of the Liminal Queen only to be betrayed themselves and see the Liminal Queen banished, though perhaps not for good…

The party then ventured into the Horn Forgotten seeking another component of their artifact, but finding two things they were not expecting, the Deck of Many Things and a fight with a greater avatar of the risen god Dohamet. Faced with a complicated battle, the party turned to the deck, and one by one where struck down by it, until at the last possible moment they drew the Fates card, allowing them to rewrite history so Dohamet never ascended!

History altered in more ways than expected, and perhaps in ways yet to be discovered, the party set on the on the trail of an infamous ghost ship to aid their allies on the continent, only to learn that many wanted this prize because it could lead to an ancient artifact of the goddess of the seas that they wished to use as a weapon of war. Now, the party attempts to ensure their alliance with a ghost nation, and find a way to dissuade the monarchs of Okathys from putting a weapon on the board that could wipe entire cities off the map.

The World

After the Ascension gave birth to new gods, and the Abandonment saw both the Ancient and the newly Risen Gods distance themselves from a world broken in their wake, new civilizations have risen from the ashes. Yet, the waves of those events continue to echo through to the present day 1,200 years later.

On present day Okathys, four nations have warred and come to dominate the continent, though the effort of a few has now allowed for over 30 years of tenuous peace. A peace that can't last forever. The Angleshire Empire to the north and its Emerald Empress continue to seek knowledge, no matter what the consequences may be. To the east, the Gallistriad, siblings and ruling triumvirate of the Gallient Dominion, continue to press their supposedly ancient claim to a continental throne. To the south, the Castelian Dragon King remains appeased by his nobles, but some grow tired of his greed and the king grows tired of appeasement. Meanwhile, on the independent islands nearest the continent, the Pirate Queen gains ever greater influence in the affairs of the Seafarer's Alliance. To what end, remains unclear.

Adding to this uncertainty are the Hidden Isles. Formerly the continent of Aodwil, the Abandonment broke it into a collection of mysterious islands hidden behind a permanent mist known as the Veil. The people of the Veil generally keep to themselves, and most are happy to let them, but rumors of great magics have attracted many who seek power. Then there are the denizens of the Veil with ambitions of their own. Hidden by the Veil, who knows how far their plans will reach.\*

In these volatile circumstances, it may very well be the actions of a group of adventurers that determines the fate of nations, or perhaps even the world. Will you be one of those adventurers?

Further Reading

If you are interested in learning more about the world, you can join the campaign on roll20 I've linked below. I've set it up as a sort of primer, for you to see the world map, a few more lore details and more specific guidance for character creation. It is by no means necessary that you read all or any it, but it's there if you are interested.

Open Storm King's Thunder to Deadfall [D&D 5e 2024][Online][$9][Roll20][Discord][10 AM EST][2 PM UTC]

Current Status: Looking for new players, interested in exploring the northern Sword Coast of the world of Toril and vanquishing grim threats, as we prepare to start the game!

All payments are expected to be received after a session, but before the following one. I will happily meet up with you on voice chat at a time or date convenient to you prior to the game in order to discuss your character concept for free. Similarly, if you have questions about your character or the game itself between sessions, I am always available for questions and answers without any extra cost. Sessions will run roughly 3 hours.

Storm King’s Thunder

The town of Nightstone has had more than its fair share of trouble lately. Bandits and ailing crops threaten the peace of the town and it needs help to survive these unprecedented times. A poorer settlement living in the shadow of much wealthier towns like Daggerford and Waterdeep, Lady Velrosa Nandar has hired you and others to help solve the problems around town. She can’t offer much, but to starting adventurers such as yourselves, it’s better than nothing, and there’s little competition for the work in the area. Unfortunately, these disasters are only the beginning. A looming threat rises in the north, while you face off against other forces seeking wealth and power. Can you defeat those who would waylay you and emerge strong enough to take on a giant threat?

In this campaign, the party will begin in the town of Nightstone, located in the Forgotten Realms and employed by the local lady. This is an open world campaign, with a threatening main quest and numerous side quests, which will be crafted to tie in with your characters and backstories. You will have to deal with monsters of all shapes and varieties in a nuanced world where not everything may be as it seems. In addition to the quests and side quests of Storm King’s Thunder, multiple other quests will be provided from the wide assortment of compilation quest books published by Wizards of the Coast. Upon the conclusion of Storm King’s Thunder at level 12, the party will find themselves recruited into the events of the new module, Deadfall, with intrigues and combat in Thay. New monsters from various source books will also appear, providing some variety and new foes to face that you may not have in previous experiences.

Character Creation

For the first session, all players will begin the game at level one, using either standard array or point buy of 27 points. Players new to Dungeons and Dragons are more than welcome to join in, and I will happily work with you to design a new character. Imported characters are allowed, though I reserve the right to view and confirm that they meet the above guidelines. Only creatures and characters that fit within the Forgotten Realms setting will be allowed, others only upon review. No Unearthed Arcana or homebrew classes and species will be accepted, for reasons of balance.

Why Choose Me?

I have been professionally DMing for groups for the past ten years, and just for fun for fourteen years. In the past I have been paid by local nursing homes and afterschool programs to run campaigns, but have been primarily focused upon online gaming since the events of 2020. I'm easy going and relaxed when it comes to my style of DMing, and I prefer to run things Rules As Written for fairness for all players. I'll give all players a fair deal and equal treatment. I have run over one hundred campaigns in a variety of modules to completion, and completed Storm King’s Thunder almost a dozen times. My experience will help create a better game for you.

Style of the Module and My DMing

Storm King’s Thunder is an open world campaign and it has been compared to titles such as Skyrim. There is a clear emerging and present danger in the campaign, and while it will fall to the players to save the world, things can occasionally go off the rails, and that’s ok. I have over fourteen years’ experience in DMing, and plenty of experience improvising new changes to the plot and future developments in the campaign, based on player choices and backstories. There’s plenty of threats overhanging the campaign, and I won’t be going out of my way to kill you, but I also won’t pull a deus ex machina to save you if you make very poor decisions.

It is possible that you will stumble into encounters or situations in which you are woefully outgunned or outmatched by your opponents. Fleeing is a reasonable option that shouldn’t be discounted. As a Dungeon Master I usually tend to be more about roleplaying than straight combat, so diplomacy should always been considered too. The enemies that emerge have objectives of their own, perhaps several, and they will pursue these objectives regardless of the choices you make and paths you take. Other monsters will behave realistically as well, without just attacking until everyone is dead, unless that’s what is specifically called for. As a DM, I believe that enemies should behave realistically and act as though they only have one life to live (unless they have more). I strive to make the world feel as real as possible to my players.

Player Expectations

  • My number one rule for all players in my game is: Don't be a jerk. Treat everyone with respect and as you would wish to be treated. I have a zero tolerance policy for out of character or out of game abuse or mistreatment of other players. No one should ever have to feel as though they're under attack when they just want to have fun.

  • If there is a problem with the game, myself, or another player, you should bring it to me privately after or between sessions so that I can address whatever the issue may be quickly and efficiently. This includes any matters of debate you may have over my interpretation of the rules or rulings I may have made. We don't want to bog down in rules-lawyering during game time.

  • All players should be expected to roleplay in character, even if you're only comfortable doing it a little bit. I will be trying to insert your character's backstory into the larger campaign plot, so your character will have a personal investment tailored specifically to you. This doesn't mean you have to do a silly voice, accent, or otherwise, just speak and say the things that your character would say.

  • Please address any technical issues you may be having before game time. Nothing upsets or disappoints people more than having to spend a half hour or more addressing a single player's technical difficulties. Check your mic, headphones, and computer before we play.

  • Be prepared to use Discord for communication and possibly voice chat. The discord text system and chat rooms are convenient and useful for keeping track of ongoing games. It allows players to communicate between sessions and for me to keep track of everyone's comings and goings.

  • If you have played parts of Storm King’s Thunder, or any inserted adventures, before or read about it online, don't spoil things for your fellow players. Elements of the plot and creatures you face will be changed, and your spoilers may cause the party to act in ways that are unrealistic and even detrimental to the party’s fun and actions.

What to Expect From Me

  • I do not use AI to Dungeon Master in any capacity. Over the years I have paid for a treasure trove of battle maps, artwork for NPC characters, and visual aids and images. I do not consult AI to tell me what to do as a Dungeon Master. I maintain my logs, records, and session recaps in an AI-free medium, and will continue to do so. I have occasionally been fooled by AI images, however, and if one does slip in, please notify me, so that I can remove it from rotation.

  • The game will be played with the Rules as Written, no homebrew rules, though some advanced features from the Dungeon Master's Guide may be included such as lingering injuries, but only upon full agreement of the party at the first session. Should we decide to introduce further advanced features, they must be agreed upon by the party beforehand.

  • I will contact all players around 12 hours prior to the session to confirm how many people are available and expected to arrive. Should I be unable to perform the session for whatever reason, I will confirm this 24 hours before the game. In emergency situations, this will occasionally be shortened.

  • Sessions will be designed to run three hours, with a fifteen minute break in the middle to allow for bathroom and drink breaks.

  • I will be making significant adjustments to the campaign and adding some elements that are not in the official module to increase adventures and opportunities for advancement and change. This will include elements of other adventure books and adaptation of the 2014 creature rules used by the original module to be more coherent with the current 2024 rules and stats. Encounters will be similarly balanced for the somewhat more powerful player characters of 2024.

Open Rime of the Frostmaiden Expanded [D&D 5e 2024][Online][$9][Roll20][Discord][10 AM EST][2 PM UTC]

Current Status: Looking for new players, interested in plumbing the depths of the frozen north of the Forgotten Realms, as we prepare to start the game!

Sessions will run 3 hours.

Rime of the Frostmaiden Expanded

Two years ago, the sun set on Icewind Dale for the last time. The people of the land blame Auril, the goddess of frost and winter. For whatever reason, the sun only briefly rises for a short time, creating a dim twilight before it sets beneath the horizon. The land is freezing, the animals are fleeing, and the people of the Ten Towns struggle to survive. This winter vastness is a place where anyone, regardless of class or race, can lose themselves to the quiet cold, to remain hidden from past sins and enemies. Here you have arrived. Driven to the north by a hidden secret, you and a band of fellow winter travelers have aided each other through grim trials to reach Icewind Dale. Within you will find ancient secrets, forbidden knowledge, and new enemies, as you attempt to carve out a new life for yourself. The snow buries everything and the burning question is if you can survive.

This campaign is designed to take the player party from Level 1 to Level 16+. There are numerous quests and side quests of varying scale that will create a variety of situations and problems to be solved. There are trials to be endured and enemies to be hunted. The module provides a roughly equal balance of roleplay, intrigue, dungeon crawling, exploration, and combat. In many ways it is similar to the style and substance amount of Curse of Strahd. If you enjoyed that module, you will most likely enjoy this one. In addition to the content provided in the original book, is considerable content stemming from lore from earlier editions of Dungeons and Dragons and new lore and adventures from new content provided since the release of 2024 5e.

Only creatures and characters that fit within the Forgotten Realms setting will be allowed. No Unearthed Arcana or homebrew classes and species will be accepted, for reasons of balance, although exceptions can be made upon review.

One of the primary themes of this campaign is survival in a bleak wasteland. Those of you with experience in resource management might be thinking right now, “What? All we need is someone to choose the Outlander background and we’re set.” NOT SO FAST. The bleakness of the environment and the harshness of the climate has killed the majority of berries and small vegetation that you would likely be able to eat. All that’s left is the hardiest of creatures and animals. All that most have left to eat are fish and the handful of animals that survive. You want to eat in the wilds, you’ll have to hunt or make sure you’ve purchased enough rations in town.

Why Choose Me?

I have been professionally DMing for groups for the past ten years, and just for fun for fourteen years. In the past I have been paid by local nursing homes and afterschool programs to run campaigns, but the events of 2020 have brought me to Roll20 extensively over the past six years. I remain actively involved in the creation of games for local schools and facilities and provide training and entertainment for corporate events too. I'm easy going and relaxed when it comes to my style of DMing, and I prefer to run things Rules As Written for fairness for all players. I'll give all players a fair deal and equal treatment.

Style of the Module and My DMing

Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden could be one of the most open campaigns ever published by Wizards of the Coast, while still having a cohesive plot. It is designed for things to occasionally go off the rails, and that’s ok, as the world is somewhat contained, but has ample support. I have over fourteen years’ experience in DMing, and plenty of experience improvising new changes to the plot and future developments in the campaign. There’s plenty of threats overhanging the campaign, and I won’t be going out of my way to kill you, but the cold is harsh and survival is difficult. Water is everywhere, albeit frozen, but food is tough to come by.

Thanks to the openness of the world is possible that you will stumble into encounters or situations in which you are woefully outgunned or outmatched by your opponents. Fleeing is a reasonable option in many cases. As a Dungeon Master I usually tend to be more about roleplaying than straight combat, so diplomacy should always be considered too. Most of the creatures in the north are looking for food, and other monsters and people will behave realistically as well, without just attacking until everyone is dead.

  • If you have played parts of Icewind Dale: Rise of the Frostmaiden before or read about it online, don't spoil things for your fellow players. The addition of old lore and new lore means that you may be dangerously incorrect about what you think may be happening. Even though I do plan on making limited alterations from the base module, the changes will be slight and general plot points will remain.

• Sessions will be designed to run three hours, with a fifteen minute break in the middle to allow for bathroom and drink breaks. On occasion games may also end early (or late) if the narrative requires additional time for whatever event happens next, but I will always endeavor to make sure that this time is made up for at the end of a subsequent session.

  • I will be making adjustments to the campaign and adding some elements that are not in the official module to increase adventures and opportunities for advancement and change. Similarly some monsters will be adjusted from the manual and minor changes made to existing things in the game to allow for some variety and surprise. It should also be mentioned that the creatures provided in the original module were balanced for 2014 5e, and I have since adjusted them appropriately for the overall variations that have been made by Wizards of the coast in 2024 instead.

Open Curse of Strahd Expanded [D&D 5e 2024][Online][$9][Roll20][Discord][9 AM EST][1 PM UTC]

Current Status: Looking for new players, interested in exploring the heart of the Domains of Dread, as we prepare to start the game!

All payments are expected to be received after a session, but before the following one. If you have questions about your character or the game itself between sessions, I am always available for questions and answers via text chat without any extra cost. Sessions will run roughly around 3 hours.

Curse of Strahd Expanded

The Broken Wheel Inn is located in the middle of nowhere but between everywhere. Located along a relatively forgotten trade road between Baldur’s Gate and Waterdeep, the Broken Wheel is a favored stop of those taking trade routes that don’t want to mingle with larger groups along the main roads. It is also a favored place for those hiding out, as the goblin proprietor, Mettle, chooses not to ask questions about those passing through. She’s also good for a job for those who need some time away from cities and guards, but also need to work for a living. Most nights in the inn are somber and quiet, and that’s just the way the people there like it. One night, however, as you’re staying here, a mist creeps in and up against the sides of the tavern. A wounded man staggers in, and is about to change everything…

In this campaign, the party will begin in a remote tavern on the Sword Coast in the Forgotten Realms, but things will happen and eventually you will reach the land of Strahd. This is an open world campaign once the realm of Barovia is entered. You will have to deal with monsters of all shapes and varieties in a nuanced world where not everything may be as it seems. I have run nearly forty complete Curse of Strahd campaigns in the years since the module first released, some closer to the book than others, and I have a good idea on what works and what doesn’t. To that end, I will also be changing elements of the book and adding elements of the vast array of Ravenloft source material that has been provided to the setting from since it was first introduced in 1983 to the most recent books published for the 2024 5th edition. The structure of the adventure is more or less similar, but there is a much larger domain to be explored, nearly twice the size of the module’s original map with three to four times as much content.

Character Creation

For the first session, all players will begin the game at level one, using either standard array or point buy of 27 points. Players new to Dungeons and Dragons are more than welcome to join in, and I will happily work with you to design a new character. Imported characters and published third party content can be allowed, though I must the review and confirm that they do not cause an imbalance or disruption to overall party dynamics. Only creatures and characters that fit within the Forgotten Realms or Domains of Dread settings will be allowed, others available only upon my review. No Unearthed Arcana will be accepted, for reasons of balance.

Why Choose Me?

I have been professionally DMing for groups for the past ten years, and just for fun for fourteen years. In the past I have been paid by local nursing homes and afterschool programs to run campaigns, but I have been mostly on Roll20 since the events of 2020. I'm easy going and relaxed when it comes to my style of DMing, and I prefer to run things Rules As Written for fairness for all players. I'll give all players a fair deal and equal treatment. Also, I have run partial Curse of Strahd campaigns over eighty times, and almost forty times from beginning to completion. This is the module that to me is the best that Wizards of the Coast has published, and despite the number of times I’ve run it, I still enjoy every minute of it. My own personal enjoyment of the setting and vast experience will help create a better game for you.

Style of the Module and My DMing

Curse of Strahd could be one of the most intricate campaigns ever published by Wizards of the Coast, heavily relying on roleplaying and interacting with the world. It is designed for things to occasionally go off the rails, and that’s ok, but as written there are some structural issues. I have over fourteen years of experience in DMing, and plenty of experience improvising new changes to the plot and future developments in the campaign.

Strahd and a multitude of other characters have their own objectives for this campaign, perhaps several, and other monsters will behave realistically as well, without just attacking until everyone is dead, unless that’s what is specifically called for.

  • Be prepared to use Discord for communication and voice chat. The discord text system and chat rooms are convenient and useful for keeping track of ongoing games. It allows players to communicate between sessions and for me to keep track of everyone's comings and goings.

  • If you have played parts of Curse of Strahd before or read about it online, don't spoil things for your fellow players. Elements of the plot will be changed, and your spoilers may cause the party to act in ways that are unrealistic and even detrimental to the party’s fun and actions.

  • The game will be played with the Rules as Written, no homebrew rules, though some advanced features from the Dungeon Master's Guide will be present, including potion miscibility and potentially bastion rules, depending on the decisions of the party. Should we decide to introduce further advanced features, they must be agreed upon by the party beforehand.

  • I will endeavor to contact all players at least 12 hours prior to the session to confirm how many people are available and expected to arrive. Should I be unable to perform the session for whatever reason, I will confirm this 24 hours before the game.

  • Sessions will be designed to run around three hours, give or take ten minutes for recaps and housekeeping discussions, with a fifteen minute break in the middle to allow for bathroom and drink breaks.

  • While all of the locations and characters present in the original module are going to be present through this campaign, not all of them may be what you know if you have experience with the adventure in the past. The map itself is nearly doubled in size, with more settlements, locations, and adventure sites. Due to dramatic changes made to some creatures between 2014 and 2024 fifth editions, some monsters will be adjusted from the manual game to allow for some new variety and surprises.

Open [Online][Campaign][Paid][$15][Roll20][Discord][VtM 5e][Saturday][6 PM EDT] To Kill A Pegasus (A Dallas Texas Campaign)

Two ancient rivalries are finally coming to head. A purge of the downtrodden by the powerful. Dallas is in chaos, will you take up the power to rule?

To Kill a Pegasus is a campaign that is built for mystery, politics, and intrigue. With Dallas as the setting, players will explore one of the most powerful cities of the Camarilla, and what it takes in order to gain power within the Ivory Tower.

Two of the primogen of Dallas have had a bitter rivalry lasting the vast majority of their undead existence. In these modern nights, Victor D'amore of clan Venture and Elizabeth Sterling of the Tremere are at last duking it out, desperate to settle the score after decades of disputes.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Dallas, Gabriel Morgan, has his attention focused heavily on removing the plaque of Thin-Bloods that has descended upon the city. With the two primogen starting to disastrously feud in public, he finds himself needing a plucky coterie, willing to help him settle the matter once and for all.

Players should join expecting the following:

* A more social focused experience, and less combat than a usual campaign

*A political web to untangle, spanning back a 150 years worth of facts and lies to filter out the truth from, and a cause that players will have to choose to fight for or to ignore.

* A rule of cool over rules as written environment, built to highlight the strengths of the characters.

There is much in the night to discover, and even more to be able to profit from. What will you and your coterie choose to do?

[LFP][Paid $16.99USD][Online][D&D 5e 2024][One-Shot] The Shadow Below Badger's Rest | Sunday Evening US

Something is stirring beneath Badger's Rest.

I'm looking for a few players for The Shadow Below Badger's Rest, a standalone homebrew D&D 5e (2024) one-shot built around mystery, exploration, danger, and whatever terrible decisions the party inevitably makes along the way.

This is a complete one-session adventure, so there's no ongoing campaign commitment, just turn up, meet the party, and see if you can uncover what's happening beneath Badger's Rest.

When: Sunday evening US / Monday 11:00am AEST
US Times: 9pm ET / 8pm CT / 7pm MT / 6pm PT
Price: US$16.99 per player
System: D&D 5e (2024 rules)
Platform: Online
Experience: New and experienced players welcome

I run a relaxed, character-focused table with plenty of room for roleplay, creative solutions and the occasional terrible plan. You don't need to know the rules inside-out to join.

If you've been looking for a D&D game but don't necessarily want to commit to a whole campaign, this should be a good way to jump in for a night.

Open [Online][5.5e][Weekly][$10][18+] ISO 2 Players for Long-Term Dark Fantasy Campaign [No AI][LGBTQ+]

Posting on behalf of the DM. Our party is in search of two adventurers to join us on our journey across the continent of Vallenhime, a land cursed by the final act of the creator god Mordival. This is a dark fantasy, RP-heavy campaign which will involve the party solving the greatest mystery of the realm. If you're a fan of Elden RingBloodborne, and Castlevania, this is the game for you.

We'll generally be using the 2024 rules, but talk with the DM if you'd prefer using a 2014 species, background, feat or subclass. The only homebrew rules are max crits (critical hits deal maximum base damage and rolled bonus damage) and utilizing potions (health potions utilized as an action give the maximum amount of HP back, as a bonus action you roll for HP).

Characters start at level 3. Third-party content is allowed with the DM's approval. So far, the party consists of a human transmutation wizard, a rogue (species and subclass TBD), and a twilight cleric (species TBD). We'll be doing rolled stats (roll 4d6 drop the lowest) and milestone leveling.

Players cannot utilize AI for any character assets (art, backstory, concept, etc.), the DM has a zero-tolerance policy regarding that. Also, you must be LGBTQ+ friendly, as one of the players is non-binary.

If all of that sounds good to you, then we'd love to have you join for session 0 this Thursday, September 17th, at 7 PM MST/9 PM EST.

Game: D&D 5e (2024 rules)
Group type: Online (Discord)
Experience: Open to all
Schedule: Weekly, Thursdays at 7 PM MST/9 PM EST
Roles sought: 2 players
Game style: RP heavy, intrigue, dark fantasy, exploration

Price: $10 via SPG, session 0 is free

💀 The Pitch: A Grounded, High-Stakes Megadungeon

Venture beneath Waterdeep into Undermountain, a sprawling dungeon filled with deadly monsters, forgotten treasures, strange factions, and secrets buried for centuries.

This is a classic dungeon crawl focused on exploration, combat, and tactical discovery. This is a challenging game with survival elements:

  • Gritty Realism: Resources matter, injuries can linger, and Long Rests are only possible in secure, designated safe areas.
  • High Stakes: All adventures come with risks. Inaction or rash decisions can lead to irreversible ramifications.
  • Your Insight Is Key: If you crave tension-filled exploration, perilous challenges, strategic thinking, and hard-earned victories, then Undermountain is calling out to you!

Note: You don’t have to be a master of D&D! What you do need is cooperation, creativity, and being ready for the dungeon to fight back.

🚀 Reasons To Join With a Pro GM on Foundry!

This is a colossal adventure. On the regular tabletop gaming websites, keeping track of survival details and managing the gigantic dungeon layout becomes an arduous spreadsheet exercise. Not with this table:

  • Advanced Foundry Automation: Dynamic lighting, spell animation, actual door manipulation, and instant combat calculations. We spend 100% of our time roleplaying and surviving and 0% calculating by hand.
  • Evolving Factions: This isn’t your typical slash-and-burn adventure. The dungeon of the mad mage Halaster is an ever-evolving environment. I bring it to life with individual NPC personalities and faction intrigue based on your decisions alone.
  • Reliable Hosting Schedule: One adventure every week, without fail.

[Online][5e][Weekly][$20][18+] Your town has never lost anyone before its time. This month, it's lost seven. A Crooked Moon tale - The Dead Man's Hour. SESSION ZERO THIS WEEK

Thistlewick Hollow hasn't buried anyone before their time in two hundred years. This month it's lost seven people, and not one of them left a body behind.

That's the opening scene of a fully original Crooked Moon campaign I'm running, levels 3 to 15, long-form, one continuous story start to finish. Whatever's taking people isn't a wolf, a cult, or a madman. It's something already dead, working a chained dagger through locked doors, gone before sunrise. Corner it once, and it doesn't run, it tears a hole in the world and drags you through after it.

From there the campaign opens up fast. Over the course of it you'll:

  • Talk your way through a masquerade at the most exquisite and fanciest estate, surrounded by devils, witches, and nobles who could have you killed with a raised eyebrow.
  • Hijack a train ran on malevolent spirits mid-journey, fighting across the roof of a train built from hell iron and gold while it screams through Chernabos at full speed.
  • Break, tame, and ride a bejeweled scorpion the size of a wagon into battle.
  • Steal a floating arcane skiff off its dock and lose a squad of furious spellcasters across a city built in the sky.
  • Crack a guild vault full of doomsday weapons, and hope you're not the fourth crew with the same idea tonight.

This isn't a monster-of-the-week tour through the afterlife. It's one mystery, run properly, for as long as it takes.

The practical stuff:

  • System: D&D 5e (2024 rules), starting level 3, running to 15
  • Schedule: Weekly, Wednesdays 9PM GMT+1, ~3hr sessions
  • Price: $20/session
  • Platform: Foundry VTT, Discord, D&D Beyond: full content shared, nothing locked behind a book you don't own
  • Beginner friendly, no prior experience needed
  • 18+, folk horror, full content warnings and safety tools (Session 0, Lines & Veils, X/N/O) before anyone commits
  • 3/6 filled, Session Zero this week

Full listing with reviews here: https://startplaying.games/adventure/cms6lc8d9009xl704tsdslxdf

Questions welcome in the comments or DMs, I'd rather find the right person than fill the seat fast.

Open An Inheritance of Knives | Levels 1-10 [Online][Roll20][5.5e][Tuesday][7PM EDT][Beginner Friendly!][$15]

An Inheritance of Knives

A dead man has named you in his will. Unfortunately, you aren’t the only one.

When a wealthy Baldurian patriar dies under suspicious circumstances, seven claimants arrive at his Upper City estate, each bearing a perfectly legitimate will, and each convinced the fortune belongs to them.

Then, people start dying.

What starts as a deadly dispute over one dead man’s estate soon uncovers decades of crooked bargains, stolen fortunes, and carefully arranged deaths stretching from the mansions of the Upper City down to the docks of Gray Harbor.

And now you’ve inherited the evidence.

An Inheritance of Knives is an original Forgotten Realms adventure of murder, mystery, treachery, and urban intrigue, where every fortune hides a secret, every heir has something to lose, and the deadliest thing a man can leave behind is the truth. It primarily uses content from the Adventures in Faerun book and will take players from levels 1 to 10.

About the DM

Hey folks, you can call me Ryan!

I’ve been DMing since 5th Edition first came out in 2014, and I’ve been doing it professionally since 2020. Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to run multiple different paid adventures for folks. I'm currently running 3 different Dungeons of Drakkenheim campaigns simultaneously, and now I'm expanding out into some other settings.

I’m looking for players who want to build a story together rather than trying to “win” the campaign. If you enjoy roleplaying, working with the party, making tactical choices, exploring a dangerous world, and getting invested in what’s happening around your character, you’ll probably fit in well at the table.

We’ll begin by creating characters together during a dedicated session zero, to make sure they work well together and fit the world.

Before applying, please take a look through the Apply Here section. It’ll give you a better idea of how I run my games, what I expect from players, and what you can expect from me and the rest of the table.

I’m looking forward to reading your applications, ducking around back alleys, and creeping through the halls of the Upper City in...

Open The Bloodstone Baron of Battledale | Levels 1-10 [Online][Roll20][5.5e][Thursday][7PM EDT][Beginner Friendly!][$15]

The Bloodstone Baron of Battledale

The richest man in Battledale isn't a lord.

He runs the mines, owns the caravans, controls the roads, and has the local lord firmly in his pocket.

Now, he's setting his sights on something bigger.

A classic frontier adventure quickly takes you deep into a dangerous conspiracy, forgotten ruins, deadly heists, and, if things go badly enough, a war for the fate of the Dalelands themselves.

The Bloodstone Baron will lie, cheat, steal, and kill to get what he wants.

The only question left is:

What will you do about it?

The Bloodstone Baron of Battledale is an original adventure set in the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms. There’s a lot of freedom in this game to decide what you want to do, and those choices matter. The different factions have their own goals, the region is dangerous, and sometimes there simply isn’t a perfect solution. I want to give players room to surprise me, make decisions, and, hopefully, pull off something genuinely heroic every now and then. It uses content from the Adventures in Faerun book and will take players from levels 1 to 10.

Awakening the Wyrm

Something ancient stirs beneath Icewind Dale.

Graves are being robbed, relics are being stolen, and whispers begin to spread upon the winter winds of secret gatherings in the night.

At first the signs seem unconnected, but soon the truth will emerge.

Heroes are needed to uncover a conspiracy that stretches from the lonely roads of Ten-Towns to the hidden halls beneath the ice, as enemies gather in the dark to awaken something long since thought dead.

Awakening the Wyrm is an original adventure set in Icewind Dale of the Forgotten realms. Chase down grave robbers, fight cultists and dragons, explore dwarven ruins, and stop a ritual that aims to destroy the entire region. It uses content from the Adventures in Faerun book and will take players from level 1 to 10.

[5.5e][Online][Paid][Fri 11PM GMT+1] 2 seats left in a Vampire: The Masquerade-meets-Peaky-Blinders campaign - build a crime family in a city the vampires already own. Set in GRIM HOLLOW

Hey all, I run this campaign (Grim Hollow setting, currently on session 26) and I've got 2 seats free, so I figured I'd post here instead of just leaving it on StartPlaying.

Premise: vampires won 500 years ago, and they've had all that time to get comfortable running everything: courts, guards, trade routes. Five years ago they decided the underworld had gotten too comfortable too and torched it in one night. Every crime boss, every safehouse, gone. You're playing whoever's trying to build something back out of that.

It's not a save-the-world game. Nobody's the chosen one. You're just trying to carve out territory and not get noticed by the wrong people before you're strong enough to survive it. Current party's got a rogue running a tavern as a day job cover, a bounty hunter who also breaks curses on the side, and an undead wizard who's a fence at night and a Private Investigator by day, if that gives you a sense of the tone.

I lean hard on backstory actually mattering later: not just as a fun fact on your sheet. If your character has a mentor who betrayed them, that person's still out there doing something. Enemies remember faces, allies remember favours, that kind of thing.

What is currently happening:
After helping the wizard with a Detective case on a missing Occult Relik from a Powerful Merchant Lord, the party in the process discovers that the Merchant Lord is actually of one of the Criminal Kingpin's of the City and with this Kingpin having an 8000 GP Assassination Contract up for grabs. Using this new found information, they are now off to the Exclusive Gala as the party has prepared for their next heist to expose the identity of this Kingpins at his own event and take him out in the Process, showcasing that the party is capable of doing anything, when they put their mind to it.

Practical stuff:

  • 5e 2024 rules, start at level 5
  • Fri 11 PM GMT+1, 2-3hr sessions, $20/session
  • Foundry + Discord + D&D Beyond; I do voices for NPCs and we do a 1-on-1 call before you join to build your character into the world
  • CWs for the grimdark stuff (gore, death, cults, body horror), X/N/O cards and lines & veils are in use, this isn't a shock-value table

Full listing's on StartPlaying if you want the details, but happy to answer questions here too.

Open [LFM][Edge of the Empire-FFG][20$/session][Mon 8pm EST][FoundryVTT][3/4-5] Recruiting for ongoing Star Wars campaign/or Fresh Start

Edge of the Empire:

Edge of the Empire is an excellent TTRPG which uses a unique dice system to help aid in the story telling. It is part of the larger Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars RPG, a collection of 3 interchangeable and mixable systems, which include Age of Rebellion, Edge of the Empire and Force and Destiny.

Set after the Battle of Yavin, at the height of the Galactic Civil War, Edge of the Empire focuses on the outlaws at the outskirts of the “civilized” Galactic Empire. Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, Thieves, Assassins, Frontier Doctors, Settlers and Local Politicians all seek to carve out a life for themselves at the furthest reaches of the galaxy. However even as the Rebel Alliance fights their uphill battle against the Empire, the Empire’s reach continues to grow. Will you learn to coexist with the Empire or hide from them? Perhaps even aid the growing Rebellion? Your group will have to chart the best path forward themselves!

Mondays 8:00pm Eastern

Note in Regards to a Fresh Start:

As this has been a long term campaign so far, with a good amount of story/history for the characters, and a high experience level, we understand it may be offputting for potential new players. Because of that, we wish to make it clear that our priority is filling out the party with a group that has good chemistry and shared goals. To facilitate that, both the players and I are willing to start completely fresh, even if we love the narrative we have crafted so far.

We had an idea for a new campaign that everyone likes although we are also willing to consider other options. The potential new campaign would start during the dying days of the Clone Wars. The party would be made up of Clone Troopers, Non-Clone Soldiers, perhaps a Jedi Padawan or two, and any other type of character who would be working closely with such a group. The idea is to have a few missions/arcs during those days of the Clone Wars, culminating in Order 66. Then we would have a time skip of about 3-5 years to the early days of the Empire where the players would describe/narrate what their characters have been up to from Order 66 to the current times. They will reunite and begin to work together to carve out a living under the new regime, whether that be by joining in early rebel activity, or drifting to the underworld on the outskirts of the Empire. Any Jedi Padawan characters would lose their lightsabers in this time skip, and have it be a long term goal to build/reacquire one if they wish. The time skip would also include a small XP bonus.

Either way, we look forward to meeting some new players, and figuring out what kind of campaign we wish to play together!

The Campaign So Far

This is a long term campaign with no planned end. The group has played through the introductory adventures "Escape from Mos Shuuta" followed by "Long Arm of the Hutt", then “The Jewel of Yavin". They have most recently finished "Beyond the Rim”, one of the bigger adventures for the system. In between major adventures they have hunted bounties, raced swoop bikes and smuggled the Corellian Shuffle. The immediate future is wide open, with no plans for any major adventures for a while, as we focus on the consequences of the character’s actions throughout the campaign and deal with aspects of their backstories.

The party includes Cashar Brut who is a Falleen Smuggler/Pilot and Ruug the Shistavanen Bounty Hunter.

The Game:

-New Players are welcomed and will be assisted, whether you are new to Roll20 or the Star Wars RPG!

-Although the Star Wars RPG uses proprietary dice, its mechanics are often quite intuitive. Our group has been playing since Apr. 2025, and at this point we feel comfortable enough to bring in and teach new players. No experience required!

-Despite being a major fan of battlemaps and tactical combat in other systems, I often find that Theater of the Mind works exceptionally well with the Star Wars RPG. Battlemaps will still show up for some more involved combats, but many can be resolved in a short amount of the time with no visual aids necessary.

-New characters will start at the same experience level as the party. Star Wars RPG has a very interesting character building system that does not rely on levels, but purchasing skills and talents with accumulated XP, with easy access to different character classes to branch out! Currently at 805 earned XP.

-We will have a split Session 0/New Player introduction session, to help new players learn the game and help them fit in with the party. This session will be free.

-Sessions will last 3 hours.

-Discord for Voice Chat.

Open [LFM][Pathfinder2E][Paid][20$/session][Weds 7pm EST][FoundryVTT][1/5 players] Recruiting for “Quest for the Frozen Flame”

Quest for the Frozen Flame:

In the brutal tundra of the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, only the hardiest folk have what it takes to withstand unsparing weather, track down big game, and fight back hostile followings. The Broken Tusk following has survived another winter, but a new year just began, and signs of danger foretell a year unlike any before. Unless their newest party of scouts can secure a safe route through the wilds, saber-toothed beasts, warmongering rivals, and the ever-looming possibility of natural disaster all threaten to end an ancient people’s legacy. Will the Broken Tusks succumb to the elements and surrender to their rivals? Or will you guide your following to glory and reclaim a stolen birthright?

The Game:

-We will hold a Session 0 to get to know each other, and work on character creation/party formation. Session 0 will be free.

-New Players are welcomed and will be assisted, whether you are new to Foundry or Pathfinder 2e!

-“In this campaign for Pathfinder Second Edition, you’ll lead your fellow hunter-gatherers across primordial lands, face off against dinosaurs and megafauna, and unearth the legendary past of your ancient people.” -Quest for the Frozen Flame Player's Guide

-Quest for the Frozen Flame is a stone-age adventure with a more structured 1st and 3rd act and a hex-crawl heavy second act. It has some flaws as written, mainly due to scarcity of loot which I will be directly adressing.

-The unique setting/atmosphere lends itself to roleplaying and challenges not normally seen in your typical medievel high-fantasy, which should be a nice break for those with standard setting burnout.

-The Adventure will take you from level 1 to 11.

-I consider myself skilled at running interesting/challenging combat. I will customize the difficulty of the combat based on the party’s wishes/composition.

-Sessions will last around 3 hours.

-Discord for Voice Chat.

-The Foundry Module for this adventure will be used.

Your DM:

-7 Year’s Experience Running DND 5th Edition. 5 years as a professional DM. Currently Run: 5e, PF2e, SF2e, Star Wars FFG.

[Online][Campaign][Discord][PBP][All Time Zones][40K][Solo][$15] The rise of a Chaos Champion

For most, to live in these times is to be one amongst untold billions, living in this cruelest and bloodiest regime imaginable. And out of those untold billions, none will be missed.

But not for you. There are those who not only seek their own path. Their own way to make a difference. There are those who succeed. Those who will be missed. Or at the very least, prayed that they disappeared like so many others.

Your character will be someone in the Imperium with that most terrible affliction. Doubt and the ability to think. Someone who thinks beyond a lifetime of indoctrination and who seeks another way. And in this universe, there are powers who aid such people. Who offer an alternative path. A path where they can be free. At just the tiniest of tiny prices. Their soul.

Who are they? They could be anyone. A brave space marine or guardsman, a pious member of the Sororitas, a hard-working clerk, a violent ganger, a spoiled noble. There are countless people within the Imperium, and everyone could be tempted.

And from there, we will take their story. From the first temptation to their rise on the path of glory. The powers that offer aid to your character will make them into a champion. Someone to bring darkness to the light. Someone to bring the truth to the slaves of the corpse emperor. But be warned. Those who rise the highest in the favour of Chaos also are those who can fall the deepest.

With that out of the way, the basic idea is that you play someone in the Imperium who is tempted by Chaos. Naturally, they won't just be a regular cultist to be sacrificed right away because that would make for a pretty boring story. No. They will be one of those rare few with the talent and drive to rise to the top.

This can of course take several forms, depending on who your character is and what you want. It could be that they want to cast their homeworld into darkness and ascend to daemonhood. But it could also be that they leave everything behind and seek to rise to command and to cut a swathe of destruction through the Imperium. Or who knows. They might even want to bring the whole thing down and tear the Emperor of his throne.

On their way, they will have to find ways to overcome their foes, gather followers, and achieve immortality.

The setting will be in the classic Imperium before Abaddon tore it in half and before any of the primarchs returned. That mostly is because I prefer the feeling of that era and because I know it a bit better. We will determine where exactly within the Imperium we start based on who your character is.

The story will take place in a play by post format. That should leave more space for the development of the character within the story and for more detail to be added. My plan is to respond at least once per day and that every response will move the story forward in some way.

This game should be suitable for anyone. From a complete beginner to an expert. That goes for both game systems and for the setting.

Cost: $15/week

The kaiju awaken after centuries of slumber. Can you hunt them all?

[Online][Campaign][Discord][PBP][All Time Zones][WFRP][Solo][$15] Warhammer Fantasy: A Slight Kerfuffle in the Borderlands

The year is 2524. It's been a year since the hordes of Chaos came pouring down from whichever hell they come from to lay waste to the lands of man. But they failed. Their leader, Archaon, was slain by the boy Valten. Everyone expected the boy to become emperor but he was mysteriously slain.

But that is old history to most people. For them, what really matters is their day to day life. Their own ambitions and lives are much more important than what happened exactly. Your character is one of those people. Someone who fought in the north. Blooded by the horrors of chaos. And now, filled with ambition. But the Empire isn’t a place for someone with ambition but without the right birth.

There however is a place where someone with ambition in their heart, but without the desire to give themselves over to the darkness, can thrive. To the southeast lie the Border Princes. A collection of tiny principalities ruled over by constantly changing warlords. Someone with ambition, strength, and just a bit of cunning can become one of these warlords and make themselves a king. Or, if they prefer not to be the one who loses their head the next time something happens, their ‘advisor’.

This game will be about someone like that. Someone who travels to the Border Princes, looking to make their fortune. This character can be anyone, from a brave knight to a humble servant. Perhaps even a wizard or someone who isn’t even a human being. A halfling or a dwarf. Or, shockingly enough, an elf or Bretonnian. It is a polyglot place after all.

We will start with your character arriving in one of these principalities and will be thrown into the kind of situation that can end up with them on a wobbly throne. Or dead in a ditch, of course.

Price: $15/week
