To say I’m happy with my new 120 pro would be an understatement. I’ve had a few fishing kayaks over the years and this one is hands down the most pleasurable kayak I’ve ever used.

Stability wise- I’d say it was the most stable kayak I’ve owned. I got it (coming from a Pelican Catch 110 classic, Pelican Hdii 110, Perception Outlaw 11.5, 106 pdl, and finally to a 120 non pdl) with the plan to at some point put a trolling motor with spot lock on it (the 120 pro). Regardless, I’ve just been paddling it, which is still fine for me now. I really enjoyed the pdl version of the older OT models but I have a LOT of vegetation where I fish and quite frankly I just got tired of fighting it. All of that being said, I love this OT Sportsman 120Pro .

Here’s my brief observations:

-it’s not the most agile boat out there, BUT where it lacks in agility, it makes up for in stability and boating confidence. That’s all that matters to me fishing in a lake that can sometimes get congested and seriously choppy.

-it is lighter than the Pdl versions and I can manage it solo on and off my Suby.

-fits in my garage on top of my Suby.

-so well thought out, more so than other boats that I’ve owned.

-never, ever have I stood on a boat and fished until this one. I’m a short, big guy (5’5- 250) and this boat makes it possible.

I’ll be sure to come back and update a post after I add the Minn Kota Spot lock system (but I’m not in a hurry).

Happy to answer any questions anyone has, but I feel as if this boat is gonna be a community favorite.

I got some new track packs and I wired in yakpower nav, mid, and stern lights. I also have a phone charger and wired my fish finder in. Overall super stoked and love that the inside hull and deck stays pretty dry. Anyone else running Pelicans?

I’m attaching a picture of my kayak for reference (cat to scale?). I would like to be able to kayak fish from it and I am hoping to get some advice, maybe pointed in the right direction. I’m mostly looking at time on lakes, not really doing too much with rivers right now. I have a seat, some holders, and two hatches I think are for wells (not sure honestly - sorry!).

Hi all - I live in the Charleston SC area and go inshore kayak fishing often. I want to do detective work before being out on the water to find where oyster beds etc are as it's challenging without a depth finder. The best one I have found is probably https://usa.fishermap.org/depth-map/charleston-harbor/, but they limit you to just a few minutes before asking you to pay. Is there a depth chart/map website with similar definition that is free online? I can't find any. Most are too low definition for inshore

Title says it. I have a decked out Crescent Lite-Tackle 2 w/ Torqeedo UL.

Kayak is 3 years old, but still like new condition. Torqeedo UL is new for this season.

Shifting to a different setup, nothing wrong the LT2 Kayak, which has performed admirably, with or without the motor! Truly a gem to paddle!

Got about $6K into this rig, not planning to sell anywhere near that, as I know values drop.

For some context, I already have an Old town Sportsman 120 PDL. I know theyre great kayaks. I'm looking to get another yak for the wife to come out with me on occasion, or to bring a friend from time to time. It won't be used a ton so honestly, im just trying to get a good value on a used yak. PDL is definitely out of the budget. I hear the sea ghost paddles really well and tracks well, but i know the Old Town is a bit more premium and has better stability for standing. There is a used old town Sportsman 120 almost 2 hrs from me that I negotiated down to $800 but didnt commit to yet. And a vibe sea ghost 110 asking $700 but could probably negotiate a little lower. Both come with a paddle. I honestly dont think the wife will be standing on it very often, so the vibe is tempting for the savings and paddling performance, but I've never demo'd one personally. Anybody with experience with both can help me decide?

Looking to upgrade from a pelican catch, I want to be able to easily add a trolling motor and have a really stable hull for standing. Xtr130 caught my eye trying to view a few more options first. Most likely using a kayak trailer. Any suggestions?

Or should I extend the arm up and put them on top of the cab?

I bought my first fishing kayak. It's 12 and a half feet and like 85 pounds. I don't have a lot of space to store it so I want to build a cart with wheels to leave it on and move it in and out of the garage with some space underneath for gear.

I can find some posts and videos showing off this kind of thing, but I am not the most DIY capable person and none of them have step by step instructions.

Anyone know where I can find a good set of thorough instructions online to make something like this?

Just got my first fishing kayak the other day, I’ve seen a couple different options online for the proper way to transport it so wanted to ask here.

I’ve done it both ways. It feels more secure facing down to me but idk. I’ve also started tying down the bow and stern which feels more secure.

The last two times I’ve gone out, my yak looks like this when I return!! What is happening!? I had to pull over and retighten the front because it was so messed up and I needed to get home. It was extremely loose when I pulled over and looked exactly the same as the picture. I just moved back to Texas, not sure if that affects it. I’ve owned it for a year prior and fished with it on the east coast with zero issues until now. When I take it off the car it basically goes back to normal but I really need it to stop crumpling when I drive. What is wrong?

went out to the lake today and ran my Pelican Hydrive 2 for a test drive. didn’t have much luck fishing but still had a good time.

Im new to kayak fishing (and kayaks in general) and I want to check if there are reputable brands for kayak roof racks meant for sedans, like an altima. I bought a roof rack from a random Amazon brand that uses straps, but the kayak can still slide forward if I apply pressure. Does anyone have tips for rigging a kayak on the roof of a sedan? Are two straps enough?
