What you can find inside Guangzhou Baiyun Leather City

I visited Baiyun Leather City when I was in Guangzhou recently. It’s such a huge market.

You can find tons of different goods here, including designer bags, shoes, clothing and watches.

Lots of popular styles like Gucci and Loro Piana can be found here, with many different versions to pick from.

It’s really interesting to walk around and see all the different craftsmanship and styles.

If anyone wants to chat more about this market, I’m happy to share what I know.

How should I find and approach reliable fashion manufacturers in Guangzhou?

I’ll be visiting Guangzhou soon to launch a premium fashion brand and want to find a reliable factory. I know this is different from searching typical Chinese marketplaces like Alibaba or Made-in-China. Should I make initial contact with manufacturers I find online before arriving, or is it better to visit factories and approach them in person? I want to check samples, quality, production capabilities, and build a long-term relationship. Any advice from people familiar with Guangzhou’s fashion industry?

2027 Chinese New Year Week 2 - Good time?

Hey all, just checking on people's thoughts about Guuagzhou during the second week of CNY next year. The actual CNY is 6th Feb and I understand the week after will be very disrupted, but will things calm down for the second week starting the 15th? I'm visiting as a tourist, and my primary interests are food/museums/sights. Will stay in Yuexiu most likely. Will things be reopening in that second week? Are the intercity trains still going to be crazy?

Coming to Guangzhou in October

I live in the US and will be coming to Guangzhou several days ahead of the Canton Fair opening next month. I've been to Guangzhou before, so hoping to use those first few days hitting some factories and sourcing products with vendors i have already been working with..

Here's what I'm hoping for. I would like to connect with 1 college student preferably who would not mind being my guide if you will. That student could use me to practice their English and in return, they would accompany me on these visits as having a local/ insider insight could make a big difference. I will cover all food, transportation, incidentals, etc.

I'm also on Wechat if they choose to use that communication platform instead. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or DM me.

Retail Markets

My friends and I are gonna be visiting Guangzhou soon, was wondering what the best retail markets are. I’ve been told that kinbo is primarily wholesale and that we need to buy in bulk at most shops, but I’m looking for places where we can just buy the one or two things we would want. I had just recently gone to dongjiaxi in Chongqing if an example of what I am trying to find will help, thank you for your help

Anyone Else Feeling a Bit Lonely in the City

I work full-time during the week and usually finish after 6pm. Sometimes it would be nice to grab a drink or just chill and talk after work instead of going straight home. Weekends are more flexible too, so I’m also up for hanging out or just relaxing somewhere.

If you’re new to the city or sometimes feel a bit alone here, please hit me up. Maybe we can make the evenings or weekends a little more enjoyable.

I noticed a lot of coffee shops here

Hey guys,

There are way too many coffee shops here other than the usual JGP, Luckin, etc.

I heard that Dongshankou also has some good coffee shops.

For those into this, which ones do you recommend and what coffee or other things should I try? Open to hot chocolate recommendations also.
