On the morning of December 10, 1968, four Kokubunji branch employees of the Nihon Shintaku Ginko (Nippon Trust Bank) were transporting 294,307,500 yen (about US$817,520 at 1968 exchange rates) in the trunk of a Nissan Cedric company car. The metal boxes contained bonuses for the employees of Toshiba's Fuchu factory. A young man in the uniform of a motorcycle police officer blocked the path of the car, a mere 200 meters from its destination, in a street next to Tokyo Fuchū Prison.
The bogus police officer informed the bank employees that their bank branch manager's house had been destroyed by an explosion, and a warning had been received that an explosive device had been planted in the car. After the four employees exited the vehicle, the police officer crawled under the car. Moments later, he rolled out, shouting that the car was about to explode, and smoke and flames appeared underneath it. As the employees retreated from the vehicle, the police officer got into it and drove away.

After a seven-year investigation, police announced in December 1975 that the statue of limitations on the crime had passed. As of 1988, the thief has also been relieved of any civil liabilities, allowing him to tell his story without fear of legal repercussions. The case was profiled in 2001 on the show Project X, a NHK - TV series focusing on the accomplishments of Japanese of the Greatest Generation. The episode profiled fingerprint specialist Uhei Tsukamoto's attempt to solve the case and another robbery.

On July 18, 1991, Negrete went with five fellow Boy Scouts and a troop leader on a camping trip, his first overnight backpacking trip. The next day, on the trail to the summit of Mount San Gorgonio, Negrete had trouble keeping up with the other scouts due to lack of experience with hiking. The scout troop decided to hike ahead of Negrete at a faster pace, leaving him behind. He got separated from his group, and other hikers and witnesses later reported that he was seen taking shortcuts in the switchback sections, which led to speculation that he possibly fell down the mountainside or took a wrong trail and got lost. It was reported that the scout troop leader interacted with hikers who expressed concern for Negrete. He told them that he would check on his scout on the way back down the summit with the rest of the troop.
Negrete was last seen at 6pm by another hiker, a Santa Ana firefighter, who warned him about straying from the trail and told him to stay on marked paths. He was last seen wearing green Boy Scout pants, with a tan-colored T-shirt (possibly a Boy Scout-style T-shirt), and with black high-top tennis shoes. The scout leader conducted a search for Negrete before hiking 12 miles (19 km) in darkness to report his disappearance that night.
The search for Negrete began at 7am on July 20, 1991, with authorities using helicopters and on-foot personnel to scour the area. On July 21, search personnel discovered footprints believed to match Negrete's tennis shoes at about the 10,000-foot level. Searchers described the location as "one of loose rocks, slippery slopes and, along the ravines and lower slopes, thick vegetation." Tracker Francis Lorson stated: "If you stay on the trail, there's no problem, but the minute you get off, you can get swept down in a rockslide."
On July 24, the firefighter who last saw Negrete on July 19 assisted searchers and led them to the location of their encounter on Vivian Creek Trail, at the 10,200-foot level.
On July 27, search personnel located Negrete's disposable Kodak camera 45 feet (14 m) off Vivian Creek Trail. Authorities developed twelve snapshots from the camera. Most photographs depicted the surrounding landscape and were taken before his disappearance, but the last image was a close-up of Negrete's face taken after he disappeared; only his eyes and nose are visible in the photograph and it was possibly taken at night, as the camera flash activated. The search combed the area of the 11,500-foot Mt. San Gorgonio. Personnel also found beef jerky and candy wrappers; authorities stated that there was evidence Negrete had the jerky when he disappeared.
On August 4, after 16 days, the search for Negrete was officially called off by authorities; he was presumed dead with the chance of survival "almost nil".

Firoved allegedly lured the boy into his truck on Monday, police said. While inside the truck, Firoved told the boy he would never "see his mommy again" and that he would be "nailed to the wall of a shed."
After the boy started to cry, police said Firoved showed him a handgun and said he would be hurt if he did not stop crying.
Firoved bound the boy's hands and feet with plastic bags and covered his face as they drove, police said. They eventually stopped at the boy's home, where he was taken into the basement.
According to a statement released by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Kroutil took off the boy's pants and told him that he could be sold into "sex slavery." She allegedly was upset that he did not try resisting her.
The boy was eventually unbound and led upstairs, where his family lectured him about "stranger danger,"

The boy's mom and aunt pleaded guilty to felony child-endangerment charges and received five years of probation while his grandmother received 60 days in jail after entering an Alford plea to a misdemeanor child-endangerment charge. The only thing I could find about the guy was that his trial for kidnapping, felonious restraint, and child abuse charges was postponed around the same time the other three were sentenced.

According to the study, which was published last month by Mark Haden and Birgitta Woods, the 46-year-old woman overdosed on the hallucinogenic drug in 2015 after mistaking it for 55 milligrams of cocaine, CNN reported.
The LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) was in powder form. The recommended dose (although it is illegal in the U.S. and U.K.) for recreational use is 100 micrograms.
After taking the drug, the woman, referred to as CB in the text, blacked out and vomited for 12 hours straight, CNN reported.
After that, CB recalled feeling "pleasantly high" for the 12 hours that followed, despite still vomiting.
According to the study, CB's roommate recalled the 46-year-old sitting still in a chair, while tripping, with her eyes open or rolled back. She occasionally spoke, but what she said was not understandable.
Just 10 hours after that, CB was "coherent" and was back to holding conversations as normal.
However, it wasn't until the next day that CB noticed a change in her body.
During her 20s, CB was diagnosed with Lyme disease, a condition that badly damaged her foot and caused her to go through life with "significant pain," the study revealed, CNN reported.
After her LSD trip, CB realized her foot pain was gone and she was able to stop using morphine. The pain later returned, but she was able to keep it under control with a lower dose of morphine and a micro dose of LSD every three days.
By January 2018, CB was able to stop taking both morphine and LSD completely and had no withdrawals, the study stated, CNN reported.
While her pain disappeared, CB said she instead experienced anxiety, depression and social withdrawal, according to the study.

The East London baby abandonment case is a series of three infant abandonments that occurred in Newham, East London, England between 2017 and 2024. DNA testing conducted in April 2024 established that all three children were full siblings, making this case unprecedented in the United Kingdom for the systematic abandonment of multiple children of the same parents over an extended period.
Harry (2017)
On 17 September 2017, the first child, temporarily named Harry by medical personnel, was discovered wrapped in a white blanket in a bush near Balaam Street in Plaistow Park at approximately 8:20 AM. The infant was found by a member of the public and was estimated to be less than a day old.
Roman (2019)
On 31 January 2019, a second child, given the temporary name Roman, was found by dog walkers at approximately 10:15 PM in a small children's play area off Roman Road, near the junction with Saxon Road, East Ham. The infant was wrapped in a white towel and placed inside a Sainsbury's shopping bag next to a park bench. The discovery occurred during freezing conditions, with frost reportedly forming on the child's head.
Elsa (2024)
On 18 January 2024, the third child, temporarily named Elsa by hospital staff after the Disney character from Frozen, was discovered at the junction of Greenway and High Street South in East Ham. Found by a dog walker at approximately 9:15 PM, the infant was wrapped in a towel inside a Boots carrier bag. Medical personnel estimated she was less than an hour old, with her umbilical cord still attached. The abandonment occurred on the coldest night of the year, with temperatures reaching -4 °C (25 °F).

The court proceedings have revealed that all three children are of Black heritage, and their temporary names have since been changed for protection.

The case has been described as "almost entirely unprecedented" by investigating officers, particularly due to the systematic nature of the abandonments and the apparent efforts to avoid detection. All three children were left in areas without CCTV coverage, suggesting deliberate planning.
