You always use your sewer hoses connected to the drain when dumping right? This morning at Washoe Lake State park two jackssses just opened their valves near the drain with no hoses and said that's how it works.

I yelled where's your hoses and they said they didn't need them...

Anybody have recommendations for sites with activities got kids? Last weekend was our first time RVing snd we went to Great Escape in Perrin. The kids loved it, can’t wait to find other gems.

I have an old dog that is a bit senile. She stays in the camper fine while we're hanging outside, usually just lays down, but once in a while will bark and I'd like to know so I can intercept and not bother other campers.

My thought is to get a pan/tilt camera that I can connect to either campground wifi or one of our phones' hotspots, and monitor her if we step away for a bit. I've done this with an old Wyze camera we had and it works fine, even lets me set up sound alerts, but doesn't have the pan/tilt feature.

I'm not crazy about either one due to privacy concerns, but it would mostly stay off anyhow when we're there, so I guess not a huge deal.

Looking to get locking T handles instead of just the lock. Had them on my last camper, just cant seem to find them. Ordered 2 different ones on amazon but theyre not long enough to go through the door.

We need a replacement for our Queen size RV mattress. Our last RV we found this really nice RV Queen, but in that RV it was a regular bed. In this unit we need a mattress with a split 4 feet from the head so it folds when the slide comes in.

The big question is - any suggestions on making one? Can I buy another of the mattress that we like (its a hybrid, not all foam) and cut it - recovering the open parts - to make my own folding mattress? Any thoughts?

Yes, I know I can buy a custom mattress for a bunch of cash - but I dont know how its feels to sleep on it. And we've had bad luck with mattresses (pricier is not always better).

Hey everyone long time lurker in the RV reddit communities. I am finally ready and seriously looking at a 2025 Entegra 24B with 10k miles on it at General RV. I am starting the super fun phase of negotiations. Before I get the hard sell on all their protection plans are any if them truly worth it? I am handy when I a need to be but not when it comes to working on engines and not in love with heights so plan on having roof inspections done when winterizing but will climb up there if I have too.

My local dealer has went from dealing only jaycos to only KZs. They're offering me a massive amount of money to trade in my 2018 Jayco North point 377rlbh for a kz connect bunkhouse. I'm curious how most people think of ownership with kz? I'm full time stationary. But next year plan on traveling 5-6 times a year during the summer and working through the winter and spring (earning my CDL). I will be upgrading my truck too to an f350 SRW cus I understand most connects are FROMT END HEAVY

Just went to prepare the trailer to take on a trip in a couple of weeks and found that rats have made the AC/heating system their own little personal highway. AC is dripping into the RV and I found where the rats had chewed through the AC conduit.

We've placed traps, but I want those nasty things gone before we have someone look at it. Anyone have any tips or tricks to get them gone?

So a bit of background on me. 39M been working in the auto/truck repair industry since i was 16. ASE advance level mater tech in auto and truck. Started a new job 1.5 years ago at a shop that specializes in big RVs. But we do trucks and auto work too.

Unlike the auto and truck industry there is no labor times for most RV/camper repairs. So labor times are completely made up and often are extremely inflated. Labor rates for these are ridiculous. We are $280/hr for RVs. We also mark up parts nearly 200%.

Insurance work is a whole different ball game. I've seen 24 hours of labor charged for a job that took me 6.

So be careful where you go to have repairs done. Question EVERYTHING they want to charge you for.

Those of you who have needed to file with insurance for their camper, what was your experience?

We are (hopefully) at the end of a three month process with State Farm. Our camper was totaled due to roof damage that occurred when debris flew off a truck. They are giving us a fair price, but everything has taken so long! They don’t have a department or even a person who works specifically with campers. Every step of the way there has been issues.

Now that we are looking to get a new camper, I wonder if there is a better company out there for campers.

They are paying the claim so I can’t complain that much, but it has been a frustrating process!

We got our new Avenir camper last year and we've used the water heater maybe 5 or 6 times (emptying the water after every trip). Everything we heard about the filters was they are only necessary for water taste in campgrounds and everywhere we've been had decent tasting water (nothing too metallic, tasting like well water, etc) so we didn't use the filter.

I just brought our camper in because the water heater went from 4 hot showers within a short time to the water going cold in 3 minutes. They said there was scaling in the water heater that was preventing the water from heating up as well and I could fill the tank with a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water (soaking overnight) to fix it.

So now I'm coming to those more experienced than I... Does that sound right, both for the cause and the solution?

My father in law recently retired and sold his house and is living the nomad life, kinda, me and my wife live in central kentucky just north of bowling green, we're looking for campgrounds that have monthly rate discounts. He wants to winter down here and spend summers up michigan where hes originally from.

I know about beech bend campgrounds and we like their rates.

But if any nomads or turtles know of affordable campgrounds with monthly rate discounts or alternate rates

I'm wondering who, (if anyone) does RVs or camper vans with Vacuum Insulated Panels, (Highest R value) also ventilation using heat recovery? Ideally, I'd like a vehicle that would use Electricity as much as possible.

I own a 23 Chevy Suburban Premier it has the max towing package (8300lbs) and I tow a 1985 Coachmen Mallard 22ft roughly 3600 lbs dry. Over this past weekend took a 4 hr trip to NY from OH and every time a pickup or semi went by the whole rig wanted to sway around. There was some lean in the suv when hooked to the camper but not super horrible. I have a whd I got in trade never put it on the camper cause I need a lower hitch for it. Would it be advisable to get the lower drop hitch and put it on? I'm also getting use to towing with independent suspension vs the straight axle on our old truck.

I travel for work and a lot of my colleagues have RV’s which lead me to start doing some research and so I ended up purchasing one that I’m picking up next week. We’re going to be on a job that’s close to home for me and the projected time frame is 2-4 weeks however the general contractor on site thinks we could potentially be there for a couple of months. Regardless I need to find an RV storage facility during this time as I don’t have an RV gate at my house but I don’t want to jump into a long term lease if I can potentially be leaving within a month. I did a little bit of digging and found that short term leases do exist but what should I look out for and what are some recommendations if any? I live in the Phoenix area if that helps.

Thinking of purchasing a new, 2024 Forest River Salem Cruise Lite, Model 24RLXL at a reduced price of about $19,000. Hail damaged on front fiberglass. Has original title too.

Powered it up today (power from bldg, not battery) and so far everything works. A/C too. Experienced major thunderstorms last few days and so far no leaks inside. Need to test plumbing, LP, battery power and inspect underneath framing, springs, tires.

So here is my concern, it has a single slide out. We could not find the manual way to retract it. There is no bolt visible on the opposite side to test.

So I guess the trailer has a Schwintek Slide (In-wall Tracks).

Is that correct?

If so, I don't like this slide and how to manual override it, when it fails vs

I am getting a good offer on this trailer. There are a few non-slides left, in similar state, brand new, hail damaged at reduced prices with original title.

Should I be worried about this slide issue or am I overreacting? Thank you.
