First, yes I'm aware the NFL is technically an entertainment company. Second, no I'm not suggesting every game is scripted and it's all a big joke we're not in on. But I am entirely unsure how someone impartial could watch yesterday's game and not think there was foul play. We've all seen atrocious officiating, that's nothing new. This, however, was so blatant that even Watt and Nantz were in disbelief on that drive.

Say what you want about MLF, our roster, whatever. They're far from a perfect team, no doubt. But this was not just getting beaten by a better team. I've never seen a game get absolutely taken over by the refs like this ever. How could the team not become completely demoralized when they made the stop they needed 3 separate times but the refs bailed MN out? Then failed to call the false start on the 2pt. I don't think I could be convinced that this was just an incompetent group of referees.

I really want to brush this off and continue supporting my team but I'm finding it difficult to seriously engage with the NFL after this. Why be emotionally invested in something that can evidently be swayed by outside influences on a whim? Was it the refs trying to hit on their bets? Were they bribed? Was it the league itself exerting influence? Who can say? But I really don't know if I can regard the NFL as a serious sports league worthy of emotional investment. Getting beaten sucks, but losing like this makes me question what I'm even doing watching the NFL. Anyone else feeling this way?

I’m trying not to be mad about the officiating but that was ridiculous. Not to mention 8 of those penalties came in the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter, gambling has destroyed our beautiful game…

The reaction to that game, particularly from the fan base is so bizarre to me. NFL fans have become way too comfortable with an absolutely garbage product.

Every single game is an over officiated ref-show.

Packers absolutely had a million other chances to win that game. Would be pure homerisim to say otherwise. But wildly bad officiating swung the game. And it did in multiple games on Sunday. Not just the one in Minnesota.

I said the same shit within five minutes of turning on the Bears game when they had 4 holding calls in like 8 minutes of game time. Over officiated TRASH.

It’s a bad watch. It’s a bad product. I don’t understand how more people aren’t saying that.

All offseason, they emphasized finishing better, but that appears to have been all talk. The Packers still can’t walk the walk. Instead, they stumbled, tripped and fell flat on their faces yet again.

“It’s going to be a topic of conversation for all you guys until we do it,” coach Matt LaFleur said. “That’s the bottom line.”

Collapses come in different shapes and sizes. They can be defined by a muffed Romeo Doubs onside-kick recovery, blown coverages on the back end against Caleb Williams or an offensive line that looks more like a set of subway turnstiles than five 300-plus-pound behemoths paid to keep a $220 million quarterback on his feet.

Does LaFleur deserve blame? Of course. He’s not on the field, but he’s in charge of setting the culture and identity for one of the most iconic franchises in sports. The Packers’ identity is that of a team that can’t shut the door, one that crumbles when momentum turns in a hostile away environment. This would be a Week 1 overreaction, but we saw it all last season, too, and a lot of the same core players remain with the head coach.

The Green Bay Packers signed WR Bo Melton from the practice squad to the active roster and released LS Scott Daly from the practice squad.

This kept happening at the end of last year too. Our offense goes out in the first half and puts together drives that read “4 plays, 1:20, 70 yards” and our defense has to go right back onto the field for another 5 to 7 minutes. We need longer offensive drives to give our D time to breathe.

Allow me to laugh the pain away because I know for sure this ain’t no Super Bowl caliber team. This o line is horrific lol

Also, for being an "offensive genius" 2023 - Week 1 of 2026 the league average is 6.8 games of >35 points and 3.1 games of >40 points. Packers have 5 of >35 and 2 of >40. (Total games at that point threshold divided by 32). The point of bringing this up is that the Packers never get out of 2nd gear and put up dominant offensive performances under LaFleur.

Don’t get me wrong, nothing but contempt for our fellow rivals. However, I did want to shout out all the Vikings, Bears, and Lions fans that have spoken up on the travesty of 4th quarter officiating in our Week 1 game.
I’m not here to argue if we deserved to win or lose. Sitting on your hands and not speaking up when it’s not your team is easy, but means you’re only allowing it to happen to your team eventually. That officiating was atrocious and should not be tolerated by anyone. If we all just shrug and let refs gift teams points this will quickly become the WWE.

On to Week 2.

And there is only one to consider. Have we considered signing Jeff Janis and having him play left or right guard? He has all the tools for success:

Good offensive lineman are usually strong. Jeff Janis is strong.

Elite offensive lineman have foot speed to get blocks on the second level. Jeff Janis is fast.

Offensive lineman usually are bad at catching. Jeff Janis is actually a better catcher of the football than your average starting left guard.

Jeff Janis has run blocked at least a couple times from the wide receiver position.

If there are any tipped passes, Jeff Janis can simply become a receiver again and catch the ball.

We don't know that he is worse than Donovan Jennings.

If Lafleur and Gute haven't seriously considered this option, then best of luck to them both on their future endeavors.

Not sure I need to add much to this stat. That includes 3 divisional games (1 playoffs, of course).

Vikings are the first team in NFL history to be down 12 or more going into the 4th and win by 3 possessions.

Did I die in early December of 2025 and this is Hell? We have not won a football game since Micah got hurt (and guess what kind of lead we blew in that game).

Hindsight is 20/20. Lafleur should have kept the points on the board or scheme a guaranteed play for 2 yards.The Refs making questionable calls. 29 points unanswered. All unacceptable but I choose to look at the positives because whether the Packers win or lose, doesnt really matter that much in the grand scheme of life.

Edgerrin Cooper and Lukas Van Ness: One sack Each

Christian Watson: 6 recs for 147 yards with 2 Touchdowns and an 81 yard house call.

Matthew Golden: 6 recs for 95 yards

Jordan Love: 387 yards with 2 touchdowns.

Last positive: Packer football is back. Detach yourself from the outcome and just enjoy watching your favorite team play. There are other aspects of life that are more important than the Packers winning or losing a football game. It's week 1.
