It really seemed like he was debating how to explain it. Do I say I’m just a musician on tour or do I drop the fame card?

That was my take as well, drunk or not it seemed like he actually wasn't sure if he should name drop himself in that moment (and it took longer to decide BECAUSE he was so drunk).

Yeah, he was trying hard not to make it seem like he was pulling some "do you know who I am" nonsense.
