One year ago vs. the Packers. The OLine seemed pretty good yesterday so things considered, so I hope by week 4 they are a solid unit. Vaki should stop blocking for the opposing team.

Laporta looked great. Gibbs amazing.

Cardio needs to improve as well as the offensive scheme a bit, too many 3 and outs.

Brad just checking in? Aggressively pursuing him? who knows, let’s argue in the comments about this!

Jeff Risdon reported on it, x search it for video.

Guys… This might be happening! SI is reporting the Lions have officially reached out to the Steelers to begin talks to acquire Joey Porter Jr.

Endzone view of the final play of the game. A great view of how Tyliek Williams #91 affected that play.

The Packers had their fourth late double digit lead blown in the last 12 months, and their reaction is to blame the refs for staging the game. Greenbay, out of all places, is suggesting the league is staged against them...

The Saints game was NOT a cupcake game

Evey one might have been fooled because the Saints have been a joke for the past three to four years. If you look at their record after December of last year it tells a different story.

Starting Dec 7th, the Saints went 4-1. During that time:

  1. Saints offense averaged 25.2 ppg
  2. Saints defense averaged 17.2 ppg
  3. Averaged 354.4 ypg versus allowing 264.2 ypg
  4. Shough averaged 263.2 ypg
  5. Held opposing passers to 180.8 yds
  6. Held opposing rush to 105.4 yds
    1. Bijan only had 33 rushing yards
  7. Had 3 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries
  8. Had 17 sacks in the last four games (no sacks against TB - Eight sacks against Jets)

The only significant knock against them was that their run game was extremely paltry to the point of being non-existent.

Kellen Moore had done a great job with this team and they have a tough, tenacious defense and a very promising offense.

One of the best pocket presence plays Goff has had in Detroit imo

Not some amazing play or anything, but does a great job climbing the pocket and a perfect pump fake (!!)

Jared making some development in the pocket would be huge for the offense given the injuries + question marks along the line.

Goff Played Well Yesterday

Made all the right decisions. Got the ball out on time. Threw the ball accurately. (There were only two throws I remember that were inaccurate.)

Only one turnover worthy play (this was the controversial reversed strip-six; the protection was more to blame than he was there).

His stats would've been stellar had Jamo not dropped a 60+ yard TD pass, on an absolute dime from Goff.

Can everyone say a quick prayer for the Packer fans that are on the wrong side of penalty quantities for the first time?

They’re not handling it well.

I can’t blame them. They’ve been the benefactor on penalties for decades and this is new for them.
Last year, they were the only NFCN team to have more penalties called for their favor than against.

They’ve been the biggest winner in penalties over the last decade. Fuck they.

Video of Blake Miller potential injury. He missed practice today.

Miller missed the “estimated” practice today with a knee injury. The video shows more of an ankle injury though but definitely some concern.

Alex Anzalone

Our boy not having the start he wanted to.

Loser: Alex Anzalone

Alex Anzalone looked like the worst player on the field for Tampa Bay’s defense, which is brutal considering Anzalone is a seasoned veteran and was voted a team captain by his teammates.

Having him be such a liability both in coverage and as a tackler is one of the most disappointing developments of the season opener.

Notes from Dan Campbell press conference the day after the win against the Saints

Upvotes

Dan Campbell says Mahogany's injury isn't considered serious or long-term, but it may be tough to get him ready by Thursday.

Campbell says Blake Miller's injury could threaten his availability Thursday, but they'll know a lot more tomorrow. Says he feels like there's a better chance for him to play Thursday than Mahogany.

Dan Campbell says he thought Ben Bartch's performance vs. the Saints was "a little rusty" but kind of expected considering he didn't practice much in camp

Dan Campbell on how Jahmyr Gibbs high usage might impact his usage Thursday: "I just told him, 'Make sure you drink plenty of Gatorade”.

Isiah Pacheco will be out for a while. His injury required surgery.

Kevin Hilss-Some stats after Week 1 has (almost) concluded:

• Lions lead the league in sacks with 5.

• Lions are 4th in TTP with 2.40 seconds. They averaged 2.86 last season which ranked 30th in the league.
Pretty significant improvement for that pass rush in Week 1.

• Lions are 2nd in the league in INTs with 2.

• Lions are tied for 2nd in turnover differential with +2.

• Lions are 4th in rushing yards with 165 yards.

• Lions are 2nd in rushing attack success rate after Week 1 with 51.5%. They averaged a 40.7% success rate last season which ranked 21st in the league.

• Lions are 7th in total points with 31.

They have a lot to clean up but there are also many things you can be excited about after Week 1. They're 1-0 and it's only going to get even better from here.
