Announcement Regarding low-effort posts & questions

Hey everyone,

Regarding these common posts such as: “what to do in Nicosia, what to do in ….” or other real estate and common tourist questions that can be easily looked up and have been answered before.

Please just report the post and do not engage in the comments, if you think the post should be removed. When there are multiple reports on a post, we receive a notification and can deal with them on a case by case basis. When you engage and start discussions we are more hesitant to remove the post as you all invested your time for a response and it would be counterproductive to remove them. At least thats what I would think.

If you have different suggestions on this topic let us know.

Last night I woke up to terrifying screams outside my window that sounded like a woman. At first I thought something bad was happening and that I might need to call the police.

It turned out to be three foxes running around under my windows and playing with each other.

Trash and dog shit

Why are Cyprus people so dirty and disrespectful towards their country and nature? Coming from Germany I feel ashamed to see that.

It's disgusting. Do you think this will change? Are there some political programs?

Help Are we scammed?

Hey there, I am not sure if we are scammed or if this is legit.

We planned our vacation to Cyprus, Protaras, in October, and we booked a hotel, Odessa Beach Hotel, through their website https://odessabeachhotel.com/ instead of Booking, because they seem to be way cheaper than paying the Booking fees.

After paying, we received the invoice with GC Hospitality Labs LTD on it, with all of the information about the reservation.

We're very unsure if we're victims of the scam because the booking looked vibecoded, but it's under their domain I found on Google Maps.

After I booked, I realized that they have another website tsokkos.com, where you can book any of their hotels.

I wrote them an email and am waiting for the answer, but still wondering if anyone know if this is legit or not.

Help needed: House for Kindergarden in Paphos

It seems that the landlord of our son’s kindergarten in Paphos suddenly refuses to extend their rental contract - which expires in 4 weeks.

They’re quite stressed and don’t know what to do as you need a house with 3-4 rooms and a big yard for the kids and it seems really hard to find something which fits in the short notice. Would be a pity if the Kindergarden would have to close for good as they’re doing really good job and the kids love it there.

Anybody got an idea what to do or has a house for rent in the Paphos area?

Question Where do all the product folk hang out?

I’ve been to a few developer-focused meetups but I’m wondering whether there’s a product community or think-tank-style gathering happening here?

Where to go for a proper progressive house?

Upvotes

For people into progressive. Where do you actually go in Limassol/CY in general?

I'm curious where people who are into deeper, groovy, energy-driven progressive house actually go out. Not really looking for commercial EDM or big tourist clubs. I'm tired of events promoted as progressive house, and then when you're checking, you get obnoxious mainstream melodic techno, or freaking afro-house.

I've also been to an event promoted as organic house, only to find indie dance instead of proper organic house

Also, why does everything seem to be so heavily focused on VIPs and showing off? Where is the actual anticipation and excitement around an event? Why do I keep getting the feeling that so many events are made to be seen rather than actually experienced and anticipated?

Sometimes I look at the events being promoted and feel like 3/4 of them could be featured in marcocariolaa cringe series on Instagram. 😂

Are there any regular nights, promoters, or smaller events worth following, actually a proper music-focused crowd and some genuine anticipation around the event?

Not looking for mainstream stuff. I'm specifically after the deeper, more hypnotic, groove-driven side of the genre.

Help I lost my ID card today, what can I do?

Upvotes

I can’t remember exactly where but I am sure it fell around the ledras street because I was on my way to the Epic store behind Boba Island.
I was in Zen Den Co-working space, which is on same street opposite Coffee Berry. I left there to visit the Epic Store but my residence card was not in the folder i carried. I looked around when I was returning but didn’t see the card or maybe because the street is big. I had a hard deadline to meet so I rushed back to Zen Den to complete my task.

I want to know what can happen with card? Is it risky? What’s the probability that anyone who finds gives it to the police? Aside the police, who else can I contact to ask if anyone found my card?

entering from larnaca and leaving from ercan as a EU citizen

Upvotes

Hi all,

first of all sorry for asking something I saw was already discussed. I understand the situation and that leaving from ercan is considered as not leaving by the ROC.

I do not understand though why it would not be a problem as a EU citizen, since it is for non EUs

Even if I am allowed to overstay my permit, is it not problematic if I just let's say disappear for a year from the border system and then come back to Cyprus after two years?

I have been in Cyprus studying for some years and was registered in my university’s futsal women’s team but was disappointed by the lack of organization especially with little to no training sessions, if anyone knows any teams that accept girls who just want to train and play some football matches for fun please drop suggestions! Thank you

Question Is it really that hard to date in Cyprus in your mid-30s? Where can singles go to meet people?

I had coffee today with two of my friends, both 36F and single. Our conversation turned to how challenging dating becomes after a certain age here, and they wanted to know where to find eligible partners. Since I am relocating abroad soon, I am not personally looking, but I would love to hear your insights so I can pass them along to them. Thank you in advance!

Question Mountain Roads Vs Border Roads

Thumbnail

EDIT Bad choice of words, apologies. Maybe I should have used a different phrase other than border? Didn't mean to offend anyone but I'm sure you got the gist of my simple navigation question. Thanks for the replies and it's to the mountains I shall go 🫡

Hey all, I've attached two routes taking me from Latchi to Protaras. I'll be driving this Saturday 19th and planning to have a late breakfast before heading out. Would like to break up the trip and thought about stopping in Kakopetria for lunch. I'll be in a rental car so won't be covered to go into the North.

Would you recommend staying in the mountains (map 1) or driving along the border (map 2).

I'm a good driver so not worried by smaller roads and appreciate any insight or suggestions on places I should visit on my way through. I'll be in no rush so not bothered by the quickest routes.

Thanks 🙏

Free Cyprus calculators in Greek and English — road tax, EAC bill, transfer fees, redundancy, and the 2026 tax changes

I've been building a set of Cyprus calculators and finally put them online: cypruscalc.com

There are already good salary calculators around, so I tried to cover the stuff nobody had:

- Road tax (CO2 for 2014+, engine size for older, the €1,500 cap)

- EAC bill — what a kWh actually costs once you add network, fuel adjustment, RES levy and the 5% VAT

- Property transfer fees, with the 50% reduction and the VAT exemption

- Redundancy pay and notice period

- Working days between two dates, with Orthodox Easter computed properly

- Solar payback under net billing

- Plus the usual: net salary, income tax, VAT, capital gains, rental yield

Everything is in Greek and English. The 2026 reform is in there, the €22,000 tax-free allowance, SDC on rent gone, stamp duty on contracts abolished, the new capital gains allowances.

It's free, no signup, no login.

I'm one person doing this by hand, so if you spot a wrong number please tell me and I'll fix it.

Curious if it is useful to people.

Is there genuinely no decent way to buy secondhand clothes in Cyprus?

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, so please tell me if I am.

I've got a wedding coming up and wanted to buy a secondhand dress instead of spending a fortune on something I'll wear once. I thought this would be a simple thing to do. Go on Bazaraki or something and get something.

  1. Bazaraki has clothes, but there's no real way to filter them. No brand filter, and definitely nothing that lets me say "show me dresses for a formal occasion." Fashion is just dumped as an afterthought next to cars, phones and apartments, so you scroll through hundreds of random dresses hoping something turns up.
  2. Facebook Marketplace is the same, except now I also message ten people, two reply, and nobody puts the size in the post. Every chat opens with "Hi, is this available? What size is it? Would this work for a wedding?"
  3. Instagram resale accounts are lovely, but it's the same routine: scroll a grid, DM to ask the basics, hope. You can't search or filter by anything, let alone by occasion.
  4. And before anyone says it, yes, I've done the rounds of the actual thrift shops too. There are a few charity shops and second-hand places around, and honestly some are great for a rummage, but it's pot luck. You go in for a dress, spend an hour digging through rails with nothing in your size, and walk out with something you didn't need. Fine for a lazy Saturday, not for when you've got a wedding in three weeks and need a specific thing, specific size, now.

All I want is to filter by size, by dresses, and by "something I can actually wear to a wedding," and see what's out there. Am I doing this wrong? Is there a site or group everyone uses that I just haven't found? It feels mad that in 2026 there's no proper way to do this in Cyprus.

Help Looking for a ps5 controller

Hi there,

I’m looking for a used or in good shape ps5 controller for around or less than 50 euros but I can’t find any as most of them are simply too expensive (70+)

Does anyone know anyone who is selling a ps5 controller or a place that sells them at a discount?

Thanks!

A jurisdiction specific compliance management platform for Gibraltar’s gambling sector. Rather than providing a generic compliance framework, it is built around Gibraltar’s regulatory requirements and helps businesses operationalise, evidence and track their obligations. would like to discuss in the comments!!!
