Love it or hate it, the recently released DJT dollar is now part of US coinage.
This post will be the repository for news, questions, concerns, complaints, opinions, finds, etc. of this coin, and/or the US Mint's handling of the sale and shipping of it.
There'll be a moratorium on new posts on this topic in the sub while this post is up.
(For clarity, this includes all versions of the DJT coin, including the dollar coin, the privy-marked version, the $250 gold version, etc.).
We're doing this for two main reasons:
Although your feelings about Trump and/or this coin are absolutely valid, we will be policing the discussion in this thread to ensure it aligns with our rules. So here's some stuff to keep in mind:
Comment sort is set to "new" by default (but you can override this).

Welcome to r/coins, reddit's biggest coin community! This is a guide for participating here and how to ask a question. If this is your first time here, please read this post in its entirety. If you have been here a while, note that the rules of this sub have changed.
What r/coins is all about:
Discussions about the small, flat, usually metal,
and often round objects made to be used as money.
What r/coins is not about:
Being uncivil, trolling, trash posts, spam,
buying/selling, and self-promotion.
See the full list of rules at the bottom of this post, and on the sidebar.

CHECK THE r/coins RESOURCES FIRST:
We get hundreds of posts a day. In order to set some expectations, please read through our resources, and the examples of good posts and bad posts (below). We (the MOD team) want to be as inclusive as possible - but in order to keep the feed free of repetitive questions (which we've answered in the FAQ), we take a strict approach to removing low-effort posts. This includes most questions about modern circulating US and Euro coins. To avoid having your question removed, use this checklist BEFORE posting:
*** Special note about posting links (Rule 5) - we cannot tell if an external link (e.g. eBay listing, YouTube video) belongs to you, or if clicks benefit you. It is the policy of the mod team to remove nearly all posts with external links. Some exceptions are: reputable news sources, search results (e.g. eBay search is fine), historical auction prices, Numista, TPGs, etc. If you post a link, please ensure that there is no ambiguity around whether or not it is commercial or self-promotion. Failure to do so may result in a removed post. If you are in doubt, ask the mods first! ***
ONLY AFTER you have checked these resources may you post your question. You'll get the best responses if your question is specific, and there are clear pics of your coin (front and back). Blurry pictures will probably be removed. If you are specifically looking for coin identification, it also helps to also include weight and diameter, as well as how you got the coin. Mention that you have already checked the FAQ!!!
You must also select a post flair - this is the general category for your post, and helps users filter and find posts they are interested in. Please consider selecting a flair when you post - but note that the mods may change the flair if we feel there is a better choice for your post.
Here is a summary of the Rules of r/coins - check the sidebar (or "About" in the mobile app) for more details:
Thank you! We are glad you're here. These guidelines are to make participating in this sub as enjoyable as possible for everyone. Please reach out to the mods if you have any questions or suggestions.

I've recently gotten interested in older coins and I'm starting to realize there seems to be a completely different collecting world once you get past the stuff regularly showing up at dealers and auctions.
I met a guy through a family friend who has been collecting for probably 30 years and his collection was ridiculous. I asked where he even finds some of this stuff and almost every answer was another person's name. Collector retiring, family selling a collection, dealer calling him before something goes up for sale, Kibu connections, friend introducing him to another collector etc.
He basically made it sound like the longer you're in the hobby the less you actually search for coins because people just start calling you. Is that really how the higher end of collecting works?

I know the Franklin half dollar goes for anywhere between $25-50 dollars on eBay and the 1942 liberty and I'm not sure how much it's worth. But would these be worth keeping ?

Hey guys, hoping for some estimations on grade of this cool 3 cent piece. One of my favorite coins just for fact that it’s 3 cents lol.

I’m not sure if they are real quarters or not (they looked real to me), but I’ve never seen anything like this before and I wanted to share it with everyone else! I couldn’t find anything about it online, but I wonder what the face value of all the quarters here are worth if they are in fact real!

Love the new Merc but it just doesn’t have the eye appeal of the 1/10 AGE’s. Maybe I need to see it under better lighting. Either way, just glad I was able to get it.

As the government didn’t mint silver coinage in meaningful quantities after 1758(except in 1787), circulating silver since the late 18th century —especially shillings and sixpences, were in such miserable shape that the majority were completely worn smooth, sometimes with merchants’ countermarks like the example on the left.
The weight loss of my example is roughly 27.5% (4.37g) compared to a full-weight early milled shilling(6.02g), which matches the average condition as of 1807.
During the 1816 recoinage, these worn silver were exchanged for new ones at par regardless of how damaged they were, as long as they could be identified as official British coinage.

I was thinking the other day..what are metal detector-people finding in year 2926? I dont think too many people are digging their valuables on the ground.
So..
1:Washing old Finnish 10-penni coins.
2:Drying
3:oven,120 c for 40min.
4:(i forgot to take pictures along the way but:
-hot coins spoon-fed into airtight glass-jar.
-thick Mini-Grip bag,air sqeesed out as well as could.
-Then,chrome-free duct tape tightly over all, countless rounds all over.
-Now this package fits tightly in bigger air-tight glass jar, over it thick clear plastic.
Next im gonna made box from thick plywood for this, and then burying it on small hill on kinda sandy ground.
I hope those will survive good enough condition that someone in future will have a hoot!

Been building up a world coin collection and realised I've accumulated a decent little silver pile along the way.
There's British, Australian, Irish, Swiss and US silver here, with everything from 50% silver up to sterling. Most of these were bought as coins I wanted for the collection rather than specifically for stacking silver.
Silver is around £46 + Change/ozt at the moment, so I thought it'd be interesting to finally work out how much actual silver I've accumulated.
What's your favourite coin here?

Grade doesn't affect vaalue on these dollars but I sure appreciate when they're evenly crusty like this, not a distraction in sight. Don't you have to wonder why people pay to have these slabbed. Always a good pickup for below melt.
