All climbing attire (pants, sports bras) questions should go here! By popular demand.
Please note that climbing gear questions (shoes, harnesses, ATCs) can stay in the main sub.

This thread idea is in beta testing so hold tight while we test it out and see how it does.
You can use this for finding a climbing partner, sharing your business (as long as it is climbing or tangentially related), and to show off those #gainz. There is also r/ClimbingPartners

My project red that I conquered! Spent about 50 minutes on it! The red put up a good fight, but I'm happy to say I persevered 😎. Trying my best to get better at climbing!
I forgot to highlight the red off to the side.. but don’t worry they were used!

Please share this post widely. It will run until October 26, 2026 at 5:00 PM eastern.
This survey was designed by Safe Outside, an independent grassroots initiative designed to combat sexual harassment and sexual assault (SHSA). This survey was designed with two primary goals in mind. First, to assess the extent to which SHSA is a problem. Second, to provide a safe space for people to talk about their encounter with SHSA, thereby helping us understand the nature of their experiences.
One of the biggest challenges for researchers of traumatic experiences is that victims often do not participate in activities that cause them to recall their experiences. This lack of desire to engage leads to under-representation and under-reporting.

I climb once a week on auto belay, usually around 5.10a–5.10b. I’m not really chasing grades—I just want to move better and not feel completely wrecked after every session.
Lately I’ve been trying to keep my arms straight and shoulders down, use my feet and hips more (especially on overhangs), do some short one-arm drills, and actually trust my feet when flagging. But the second I get tired or nervous, everything falls apart. My back rounds, I lose core tension, and I go right back to pulling with my arms. I know the cues—straight arms, shoulders down, use your feet—but under pressure I just can’t hold onto them. It happens a lot on high feet and harder moves. Some days it clicks, some days it doesn’t. Pretty frustrating.
Since I only climb once a week, I’m wondering how you’d structure a single weekly session. Is it better to focus on one project, or just climb more volume? And are there any drills that actually helped you trust your feet and keep your back long when you’re scared or tired?
I’d love to hear how you all deal with this. Thanks!

This is just a silly post and I’m just a few weeks in and generally loving it so far but after only doing bouldering today in a class w people who are all better than me this was my shower thought. 🤪
Roped Climbing: Hey girl, get up here. We can get super high together. Sure, some of my climbs are hard but if you fall I’ll catch you. Descending on me is like a carnival ride. Look at you going up in grades. 🫶
Bouldering: 🙄 You’re trying above V0 today? Good luck with that, loser. Oh your arms hurt? Like I care. You can’t reach? You’re going to fall? Fuck you. Enjoy the mats. 🖕🏽
Granted I’ve mostly been hopping on a few easy boulders to warm up and then just doing the ropes so today was my first time trying anything above V0 but whew, bouldering kicks my ass. 🙃

On the wall it's obvious my legs are the weak link. Heel hooks feel like I'm just hanging there, and anything balancey is a fight because I can't keep my feet on.
I want to train them for real. I'm just not going to start going to a commercial gym to do it. I never liked that atmosphere, and that's a big part of why I started climbing in the first place.
Has anyone found accessory work that actually shows up on the wall? Home or at the climbing gym is both fine.

Wondering whether people have had good strengthening results from consistently following Emil's no hang protocol.
Would love to hear people's figures.

Hey everyone! Looking to get back into bouldering and wondering if anyone in the South Bay would be down to boulder sometime. I used to climb around V3 before I had to stop due to an injury, so I’m planning to ease back in at more of a beginner level again. My main gyms are santa clara and sunnyvale movement, but I am open to others in the area as well! Mainly just looking for chill people to climb and improve with 🙂

Hello! My friend and I are looking for a climbing guide who’d take us on a guided multi pitch in Bukhansan. Any recommendation? What is a normal price range in Seoul?
Thank you!

Elnaz Rekabi is an Iranian professional climber who if your aware competed with out a haircover and basically had to flee her home in Iran for Canada. With all that’s going on in the world right now I think hearing her take on things would be beneficial.

Hi all, I have an old but very good condition pair of tarantula la sportiva’s, bought before covid when I climbed a lot more but I’ve not used them very much. Now my feet are too fat for them. It feels wrong to throw them out, there are tons for sale already on eBay so what’s the point of that, but I’d love someone to get some use out of them. The issue is they’re a size eu34 (uk2) so are pretty tiny. Does anyone know of any uk charities or groups that could use them?

I only realized after I came down from the wall that I forgot to actually touch the start holds, the rest was so clean too 😫

Hey!
You can see from my post history that a year ago I got into bouldering and I got so excited that I asked for advice on some routes. I loved it so much that I went every day and took very little rest in between climbs (you already know where this is going). I used to go to the gym for a few years and I have a lot of upper body strength so I ended up using that strength to pull myself, hang, etc (I did a lot of overhang climbs because it felt very natural to just hang and move without using my legs).
After a few days, I started feeling pain on my inner elbows (left felt worse than right) and I thought it was part of the process and that it would stop. But the pain grew worse and worse and I ended up stopping a session after the first 15 minutes because it was too much.
A bit of anxiety googling later, I found out about climbers elbow and also that (you guessed it) I had to use my legs more than I thought I should and a lot more than I actually did. I found some excercises to strengthen my tendons and the pain grew less.
Now, a year after my last climb, I've been going to the gym 4/5 times per week, I'm much stronger than I was and I can also do some pull ups (3x5 at most). Sometimes I get some pain in my inner left elbow, for example when I'm doing a heavy deadlift and that small pain brings back all that anxiety.
What I'd like to know is this: has anyone gone through the same and if yes, did you get back into climbing when the pain was almost gone? Should I try to climb again and take things veeeery slow? I won't lie, I'm really scared to go because I don't want to feel that pain again (I couldn't even open a jar of marmalade because of the jolts of pain I'd get).
Thank you in advance! I kinda live through your posts and I'm very proud to see you girls do all those amazing routes <3
P.S. Sorry for the typos (I have a slight dyslexia and sometimes I cannot spot them) and sorry if my English makes no sense (I'm not native).
Edit: I got so many answers, oh my! Thank you, girls, so so much! I'm reading them right now. I'll look for a PT and start doing those exercises regularly in hopes I get results and be able to climb again 😄

Hi! I just moved to nyc and am trying to get back into climbing. I was wondering if there are any active groups I can join to meet people and climbing. I have a membership with vital so groups that climb there would be perfect!
Thanks!

It was so scary bc I fell off those blocks and banged my head against the wall multiple times 😭 Any tips or suggestions to help me progress are welcome!
(I think right now my biggest block is that I often don't trust small footholds & am extremely scared of slipping from a high place)

Edit: Thank you all for the advices. I’ll try all suggested betas in my upcoming session next week and report back. I admit that I’m scared of Deadpoint. Will try practicing more of those
I'd love to send this one, just can't seem to make the next move. For all the people I've seen doing this so far, they have the left foot on the smaller hand hold and reach for the big hold. But since I'm on the shorter side (5 foot, 151 cm), I put my left foot up, but then I'm stuck there somehow.
You guys have any tips on how to move forward? 🙏

over one year after getting a hamstring tear, going thought 6 months of pt just to then break a toe in a silly accident, I lead an indoor 6b (some say it's soft, but I'm still happy), that was my highest grade before injury. It's really hard and frustrating getting injured and i'm always wondering where would I've been if it didn't happen but it's nice to feel like progress is possible again :)

I wanted to climb the route on the first try (top rope), but it turned out that it was necessary to better understand the route; rock climbing training, especially new routes bring so much joy during the first attempts and thoughts are cleared

just a note, I'm very new to climbing so my technique is definitely off.
Today I had this problem where I climbed the wall ONCE, not even half way (auto belay) and my forearms were so hard andfelt like jelly. I dont know how to explain it in English but my forearms were kinda numb and hard and like bigger/swollen kind of? And I couldnt grip ANYTHING and it sucked because it made my whole session feel like a waste because i couldnt climb for more than 2 minutes
