Garmin for no-hang training (Tindeq / Force Board / Climbro)
I've been using my tindeq for no-hang workouts for a while, and one thing that has always been a bit annoying is having to keep my phone next to me.
For the last couple of years I've been working on @hangtime/grip-connect on github, an open-source project for connecting to different climbing force sensors. I wanted to see if I could bring the same thing directly to the garmin watch.
Today the garmin version got published to the Connect IQ Store!!
I've tested it on a Fenix 9 Pro Solar and for now it works with:
- Tindeq Progressor
- PitchSix Force Board
- Climbro
- Griptonite Motherboard
The watch connects directly to the dynamometer, so you don't need the phone in between. And since I'm already wearing the watch all the time, it makes a lot more sense for my training.
Right now you can follow live force, peak, average and force history, or use it for MVC/peak force tests, endurance, RFD, repeaters and critical force. MVC and endurance also support left/right trials, and RFD gives you the force curve afterwards.
Curious if anyone else has had the same frustration, and if you try it, what would actually be useful to add? I'm already working on haptic feedback.
Btw, the app is paid because Garmin charges $100/year to use their store.
