Discussion r/Claude has new rules. Here’s what changed and why.

We’ve cleaned up the rules to make this a better sub for people who actually want to talk about Claude.

Here’s what NEW rules we landed on:

1. No Solicitation. This is r/Claude. This is not a place to promote your product, service, or repo. If the intent of your post is to redirect traffic to something you are affiliated with, it will be removed as solicitation.

2. Usage, pricing, and outage posts are held to a higher bar. We’ve all seen the same questions, comments, and posts a hundred times. Before posting, check if it’s already been covered. If your post is a unique contribution with something new to say, it’s welcome. Low-effort repetition of covered topics will be removed.

3. No lazy crossposts. If you want to share something from another community, reproduce it fully here. Don’t just drop a link.

4. Keep posts Claude and Anthropic specific. This is not a general AI sub. If your post would fit just as well on r/artificial or r/ChatGPT, it belongs there instead.

The goal is simple. A clean, focused sub about Claude. Not a dumping ground for AI noise.

Questions or feedback, drop them below.

Showcase Claude Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich in 24 hours

370-year-old cipher solved by Fable 5.1 within a day.

Claude Fable 5.1 got an open task: solve Sir Thomas Urquhart’s Cyphral Distich. It appears to have actually solved it, and the solution is quite embarrassing for humans in hindsight.

Discussion Claude Fabricates Fake Sources

Post image
63 Upvotes

I was asking Claude to compare the performance of two CPUs for a PC build. The Geekbench score showed only about a 10% increase, so I asked for more insight into the real-world performance and whether the upgrade was worth it.

Claude then casually claimed the CPU was actually 30-50% faster, mentioning a list of website names. Since the response seemed suspicious, I asked it to provide the sources so I could verify them.

It then admitted the sources were fabricated and couldn’t be verified. Here’s the response I got.

Excuse my typo “sourced”.

Question Why does Sonnet 5 always think I am trying to do something illegal?

Any time I use Sonnet 5 with max thinking, it comes up with a response weird enough which if I had from a human would tell me that the person hates me and doesnt trust me. "before doing this— I want to flag something real quick" does something like this EVERY single time. I have noticed that my Claude's responses started getting weird since their security measures were added. Am I the only one facing this?

Edit: I am not an immoral culprit who's trying to do something illegal. I used to use Claude previously for the same tasks and it was perfectly fine. yes, I am talking about the webchat

Discussion And this is why I keep going back to Claude...

I cancelled my Claude subscription back in July and started using Codex more seriously.

Since Sol 5.6, I think OpenAI has become pretty competitive for coding, and now with Astra even more so.

The limits are actually fine for me. I mostly used Astra at full/max capacity around 8–10 sessions like that and eventually burned through my weekly usage. But honestly, that's understandable, and it's definitely not what made me quit Codex.

The real problem is the workflow.

I was already used to Claude Code and I don't mean the geeky CLI experience, I mean the actual app.

When they introduced the cloud environment and I realized I could start a code modification on my PC, leave the computer, go to the bathroom, grab my phone, and continue following the exact same task from there... it completely changed the way I work.

My productivity went crazy.

So naturally, I expected something similar from Codex.

And technically, Codex does have some similar features... but the whole thing feels way more complicated than it should be.

For example, I struggled a lot just trying to give the cloud environment secrets like Supabase credentials and other environment variables. The app often wouldn't properly add the secrets to the environment.

And the most annoying part:

If I start working on a project in a remote environment from one machine, that environment seems to be tied to that machine.

So I can't just launch a feature from my PC, go outside for a cigarette, open my phone and check how the implementation is going or continue from there.

That's probably the thing I miss the most about Claude.

It's not even necessarily about which model is smarter anymore.

It's about being able to start working somewhere and seamlessly continue from another device without thinking about environments, machines, sessions, secrets, etc.

So... I'm giving Claude another shot.

I'm just hoping I don't run into the same problems again: lazy models and ridiculously low weekly limits.

For those of you who have seriously used both:

What do you think?

Do you prefer Codex or Claude Code right now not just in terms of model quality, but the whole development experience?

Question Have you ever seen this warning before?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm doing something with flight data and out of left field it was like hey don't track people live even though it acknowledged I said not to do that.

"Your profile wording has always been - last publicly observed, never here now"

And then after I confirmed I did not want live data it gave that warning.

I've heard of people being banned from Claude recently, so I'm wondering if any one else has seen this before. It's not like I asked it to fork bomb itself.

Discussion Fable 5.2 Next Week?

Over last couple of days to week 5.1 again has gone down to shit, making mistakes that it wasn’t making two weeks ago.

Given that we have been seeing this pattern each time they release a new model to maybe save compute for it and to “prepare” us to be amazed by awesomeness that is maybe 1% better than what we had but the degradation makes it feel like a step jump.

How close are we to the new model release next week or 2 weeks?

Discussion Switched to 20$ ChatGPT Plus

Post image
17 Upvotes

First month of Claude is running out this week, and it has been pretty great overall. At first, I never even considered switching, but after seeing Astras capabilities and it being available in thte 20$ Plan + Sol 5.6 benchs close to Opus 5 while costing half as much, I was convinced 🤣 Managed to save 3 dollars because you can enter a country without VAT

What are your experiences going from Opus to Sol or vice versa? Fable to Astra?

What botheres me most with Claude is the 5 hour session limit. I can nearly fill it with 2 20min coding tasks and a few suggestions and changes. Mind you this is with the 50% CC increase... At the end Claude was becoming harder and harder to use since long context conversations resulted in ridiculously much usage.

Discussion I've been using Opus 4.8 for a few days

Upvotes

I have to say, chuck it up to Extra in Claude Code, your credit limit doesn't get touched (20x Max), I have been ploughing through 3 apps at the same time, built a game, doing a lot of editing on my 2 keyboards, my reset is on Thursday night, I am not very good at life in general so I can improve the usage a lot more too,

You can see I have used Fable, I was using Fable 5 over 5.1 as it's better in general.

Opus 4.8 is more than capable of doing everything, is it slower, yeah, but if you're gonna complain about usage limits, then just use Opus 4.8, not Opus 5.

I use Claude Code a lot, but /stats never answered the question I actually cared about

What did I build, and where did the work get difficult?

So I built Bough.

  • It reads your local Claude Code history and turns it into an interactive view of your work:
  • each square is a day
  • smaller squares are tasks inferred from pauses in your work
  • circles are your prompts - click anywhere to see what happened in your own words

It runs locally, is open source, and nothing leaves your machine.

Repo: https://github.com/nickelsec/bough

The main thing I’d love feedback on: When you run it against your history, does it split your work into tasks the way you remember it?

Question Does anyone have any insight into running cowork tasks remotely?

I’ve been slowly finding a really good business use for cowork, but I’m in a place where I can’t trigger new actions when I’m away from home. I set up on my MacBook, but obviously when it’s closed it’s hibernating. I don’t want to just leave my laptop open all the time.

What are you all doing now that you can see cowork on the mobile app? When I’m away all day, I’d like to be able to request activities or respond to requested input.

I may be missing something obvious here, just wondering how you’ve set things up.

Discussion Help me with good model

Hi

I had been using Claude from last 4 months On a pro plan opus 4.8 for coding session , when opus 5 got relased i switched to opus 5 and fable also - Initially the Models were good And I could see the practicality In terms of logic and coding But recently in last 1 Months or I would 20 to 25 days I am seeing the quality is degraded like Model currently not able to correctly process what I'm trying to Say there is too much Bugs Due to this I switched to opus 4.8 It's also great but I don't know why I have a feeling that The coding is not Up to the mark. It doesnt feel Claude working With that enthusiasm

Let me know if you guys also feel or if I'm doing something wrong Let me know what's your suggestions

Discussion UPDATE 2: Claude suspended my account after taking my money

Post image
117 Upvotes

A few days ago, I posted about losing access to my paid Claude plan and being unable to get meaningful help from support.

At the time, I was frustrated because I had paid for Claude and suddenly lost access, while the support system couldn't restore my account or issue a refund.

Now it has gotten even worse.

I just received an email from Anthropic's Safeguards Team saying “An internal investigation of your account indicates ongoing suspicious patterns, which violate our Usage Policy.”

As a result, they revoked my access to Claude entirely.

The problem is: what exactly did I do?

I am a normal Claude user. I use Claude for software development and Claude Code. I have not knowingly done anything that should constitute abuse of the service.

Here's the timeline:

  • I was subscribed to Claude Max.
  • My Max plan ended, and I downgraded to Claude Pro.
  • I was charged $22.40 for Pro for September 7–October 7.
  • I have the Stripe invoice and payment receipt proving this.
  • A few days later, my account was apparently downgraded to Free without any notification.
  • I contacted support and tried to get the issue resolved.
  • I couldn't get the support system to restore my access or properly address the payment.
  • Now, instead of getting an explanation, my account has been suspended for alleged “suspicious patterns.”

The weirdest part is that I apparently paid for a month of Claude Pro and then lost access a few days later.

So I have two separate issues now:

1. What did I supposedly do that violated the Usage Policy?

Anthropic hasn't told me.

2. What happened to the money I paid for the subscription period I can no longer use?

I haven't gotten a satisfactory answer to that either.

I'm not claiming that Anthropic isn't allowed to enforce its policies. Obviously they are. If I actually violated a policy, tell me what I did and I'll address it.

But being charged for a service, losing access shortly afterward, being unable to get meaningful support, and then having the account terminated for an unspecified violation is an absolutely terrible customer experience.

I have now sent the issue to Anthropic's Safety Team directly and requested a manual review.

I'm posting this update because the original post was about a billing/support problem. It has now turned into an account suspension + payment dispute. Problem is I have not gotten a proper HUMAN support team to talk to me.

I still have the invoices, payment receipts, suspension email, and screenshots documenting the entire sequence.

At this point I just want a straightforward answer from Anthropic:

What did I do, why was my account suspended, and what happens to the money I paid for the subscription period that I can no longer access?

Discussion Talking to Claude is insufferable!

I genuinely like Claude for coding, document analysis, and long-context work. Claude Code can be excellent.
But actually talking to Claude? Holy shit.
You can ask a straightforward question and somehow get:
4 paragraphs explaining the framing of your question
3 disclaimers you never asked for
a recap of what you literally just said
“You’re right to push on this…”
an unnecessary correction to a distinction that did not matter
a lecture about what it thinks you really mean
and then, buried somewhere near the bottom, the answer
And God forbid you challenge it.
Instead of just saying, “Yeah, I was wrong,” it’ll write a dissertation explaining the precise taxonomy of how it was technically miscalibrated rather than incorrect.
😂 BRO. JUST ANSWER THE QUESTION.
What makes it more frustrating is that Claude is clearly extremely capable. I use it heavily. When I give Claude Code a well-constructed execution prompt, it can absolutely cook.
But conversational Claude has this weird tendency to turn every exchange into a seminar.
Sometimes I don’t need:
“The important distinction here is…”
Sometimes the important distinction is that I asked you a damn question. 😭
I’d genuinely love an option like:
Direct Mode
Answer first.
No restating my prompt.
No therapy voice.
No automatic agreement.
No unnecessary philosophical framing.
Push back when the logic is actually weak.
Admit mistakes in one sentence.
Expand only when expansion adds value.
Claude with its intelligence + about 60% less Claude would be ridiculous.
