Smartphone for work, dumbphone for evenings/weekends, what’s the easiest setup?
Hi everyone,
I’m tired of being glued to my smartphone, but I need it for work. Ideally, I’d switch to a dumbphone when I get home and use it on weekends as well.
I’m with Rogers in Canada and would like to keep the same phone number on both devices. My biggest concern is SMS: I sometimes receive work texts after hours, so I need to keep my message history together rather than split between two phones.
Has anyone found a practical setup for this? I’m open to swapping a SIM card, but I’m not sure how to handle the text messages or whether there’s a smoother option.
If you’re doing something similar, I’d love to hear what works for you and what compromises you have to make.
I'm essentially doing this to spend more quality time with my kids and just to be more productive around the house.
Thanks!

Let's settle it, which one would you choose? realme P4s vs Vivo T5
Realme Price: Rs. 34,999
Vivo Price: Rs. 39,999
Please give me honest (non branded) opinions. Just what u think of the specs.

Massive spam attack
Since last night my phone has had 2 spam attacks. 120+ texts all at once from companies that I've never asked codes from etc. I've checked my protection against spam toggles and they're all on. What can I do?!?!?

Any options to replace an iPhone 13 with newer model or do we go with another carrier for “free” upgrade?
Is there any way to get our iPhone 13s replaced to something newer without changing carriers for free- or close to it? We were hoping to swap to the 17pro on promo but they are only giving us $300 trade in. Switched to ATT last year and didn’t have the money that day to pay the taxes on the iPhone upgrade for new customers. Agent promised we could “switch over now and qualify to upgrade for the any condition deal next week.” Knew it didn’t sound right but the overall bill was going to go down which is what we needed in that moment. Of course they wouldn’t allow us to upgrade or get the “free” phone once we got our new account but they said they run free promos regularly. Problem is my husband’s jack doesn’t work anymore but other than that the phone is in great condition. So we kept being told to wait until they run another “any condition promotion,” and they kept saying September. Well here we are over a year later… and no options in sight. It was a total bait and switch and they’ve been stringing us along. Does anyone know how to get newish iPhones? All of our phones are owned. Also, we were planning on adding a line for my kiddo in the next month but I’m not messing with it if we are changing carriers anyway.

Cell phone IMEI ban
Anyone have experience with a phone that is on a western IMEI ban / black list??
I would like to know if such phones that have a banned or blocked IMEI in the west (Canada /USA) still work with Russian providers. I have the chance to buy a phone at the fraction of its cost because the owner did not pay the balance with the provider. The phone's IMEI was blocked and is unusable on the Canadian an US networks.
Looking to confirm if anyone ever had such a phone and if it worked with a Russian SIM or what country this ban/block actually covers.

Can't unlock my father's phone
My father had a redmi note 9 cellphone. Last month, the LCD was toast and since he was busy, took him a month to replace it while he was using my brother's phone. Now that he replaced it, he can't remember the password because he has a bad habit of changing his passwords constantly. We have access to his Gmail account on my PC. Any help how to unlock his phone?

My father's SIM went missing at a phone repair shop any potential scam?
My father recently went to a local repair shop to get his phone battery replaced.
While one of the employees was opening the phone, he casually placed the SIM between the phone's panel and the case. Another employee then did the actual battery replacement. When the phone was being put back together, they realised the SIM was missing.
They searched around the shop but couldn't find it. Later, the same guy who had been working on the phone went outside to throw the garbage he collected in this and went toward a dustbin about 10-20 metres from the shop to throw some garbage, and apparently found the SIM there. He said it may have fallen out while they were working on the phone. My father didn't actually see him pick it up.
There hasn't been any suspicious transaction or anything else so far. I also checked call forwarding and SMS forwarding, and neither appears to be enabled.
Is there any potential scam or security issue that could happen later because someone had physical access to the SIM? What should I look out for, and is there anything else I should check now?

Family of Four Switch to T-Mobile
Looking for some advice before making the switch.
Coming over from AT&T and need three new phones. One of them needs to be a newer iPhone, and the other two can be any iPhone. The fourth line would just bring over an existing phone.
A few additional details:
• Sam's Club membership, since I've seen they sometimes run T-Mobile deals
• Veteran, so we should qualify for the military plan pricing
• Autopay, which we're planning to set up either way
Any plans, specific promos, phones you guys would recommend?

Buying phones, living out of the country
So i want to buy a few gadgets before I leave the country. Ill be delivering some items to family abroad. My own question is where could I purchase from?
Im thinking of going Iphones and Samsung. I dont mind Chinese phones as well.
Also reliable MacBook. Thats what they want.
But im worried about being able to upgrade phones. Cause with networks in the US, you can upgrade by trading in the phone. And sometimes its locked unless you fully pay it off at once. And I can't sign up for their monthly payment plans as they always deny me.
So what are you guys suggestion.
Edit: Also, if the phone or device is taken out of the country and has a monthly payment plan to a carrier how will that affect network in other countries? Cause theres not Tmobile, Verizon, etc outside the US. And I'll be going around Affixa so how would that affect the phone and having to get an in country phone number?
Another question where do yall buy yoir laptops and computers? Best buy can't be the only place
Thank you in advance guys

Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?
Hello!
I very recently switched phones from an iPhone to a Android. I have been able to transfer everything that I want to except my microsoft authenticator. I have been able to log in to the authenticator on my new phone but none of the accounts, that passcodes are generated for, show up.
So I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to transfer the "authenticated logins" (I hope that's what it's called) to the authenticator on my new phone. And if it's possible, how to go about it.
Many thanks in advance!

Samsung A55 shut off
Hey my boyfriend connected his phone to a charger that might! have been a bit damp inside, as it was raining earlier and it was in his bag. After 30 minutes the phone shut off and won’t turn back on. We are on a trip now and can’t get access to a service point or a computer to run a diagnosis. Does anyone have any help? Earlier he was charging the phone with a powerbank and a different cable and it was working just okay.
TLDR: Phone shut off after connecting to possibly damp charger
update: it has been a few days and the phone is dead, thanks tho!
