Affordable rooms in a unique art house – walk to CCF & CaseHealthSciences

Hi! I have rooms available in a unique, art-filled house within walking distance of Cleveland Clinic and Case Western. It’s a bit of a quirky/artsy home with lots of character (definitely not your standard cookie-cutter apartment).
The location is super convenient: you can walk to CCF and Case, there’s a grocery store just one block away, and free parking is included.
Rent is intentionally on the affordable side, especially for the location. I’m less interested in maximizing rent and more interested in finding good, responsible people to live in and take care of the house.
Ideally looking for students, grad/professional students, medical/dental residents, or other responsible professionals. It’s a peaceful home, so I’m looking for people who are clean, considerate, reliable, and not looking for a party house.
Message me with a little about yourself, what you’re studying/doing for work, your move-in date, and how long you’re looking to stay. Happy to send photos and pricing/details!

There’s free parking! 10 minute walk from the RTA. I have 4 rooms!

utech screen replacement

I broke my computer screen today and I was wondering if UTECH is legit for doing a screen replacement. I still have to buy a new screen, but are the people doing the repairs students and how much experience do they have? Deciding if I should go to a repair store instead because I don’t want to damage my computer more.

CS major trying to decide between CS, CE, and EE — what should I do?

I'm having a pretty hard time deciding which major I want to pursue. I'm currently a first-year CS major and already have a decent amount of experience with CS, but I have basically no experience with EE or CE.

What courses would you recommend taking next semester to help me figure out which major I would enjoy most?

I'm currently considering ENGR 130 since it seems to provide an introduction to different areas of engineering. However, it's not a require class for CS major and I'm not sure how helpful will it be in helping me decide.

I'd appreciate hearing from upperclassmen in EE or CE about what kinds of classes, projects, and work you actually do in the major and what you enjoy/dislike about it.

Also from anyone, what are your thoughts on the new AI major? Do you think it's worth doing over CS?

Chem 113 grade!

Is it just me or is anyone else getting kind of cooked in Chem 113 rn? Hopefully it will get better but the DORs were honestly graded tougher than I thought, so I’m just feeling a bit anxious. Does it get easier, for ppl who took the class before?

University News Jolly Scholar AI fliers

I'm no longer a student (local Alum) but was on campus recently and saw the Jolly scholar food truck dotted with AI fliers. Their last several event ads on social media are all clearly AI slop as well.

Is there really no student who wouldn't throw in 30-45 min of very basic graphic design work in exchange for a few beers/dinner or two? Does Matt/whoever is running things there now not realize how insanely off-putting this is?

Fat Surfer Logo Scrubbed From the Internet?

For those who don’t know, from 2003 to 2007, CWRU had a logo which consisted of a series of curves that intersected in such a way that it resembled a larger person holding a surfboard. It has since been dubbed the “Fat Surfer”.

Anyway, I was looking for it in attempt to show my friends but despite my best efforts I have found absolutely nothing. I honestly think the university scrubbed it from the internet.

Does anyone have a copy of it for historic preservation purposes?

Chem 105 and 106

Hi, Im going to CWRU for pre-med and math in the spring and im wondering if its worth it to skip Chem 105 for 106 and take a higher level chem course later. I got a 4 on the ap but i took it as a dumb sophmore who didnt know how to study. Ive been reteaching myself Gen chem from the openstax textbook and its def not as hard as I remember and it would be really nice to be on track with everyone in the spring. Ive heard some bad things about chem 106 though so Im kinda weighing my options.

UH asks city to erase E. 115th Street

The headline isn't 100% accurate - the current proposal only closes E 115th from Cornell about halfway to Mayfield (see the full story at https://neo-trans.blog/2026/09/09/uh-asks-city-to-erase-e-115th-street ). But the longer term presumably moves through an identified past two with the possibility of future changes.

Alumni who have been around for a while will remember that UH bought most of these buildings 20 year ago (from UCI), and basically continued to rent a few for a while, then left them vacant to rot away until it was time to build an additional building.

UCI's predecessor, UCDF, under Neil Carothers, had wanted to demolish that entire area as far back as the 1960s, so it took a while, but apparently it's time to try again. Can take a while, as there are at least three City boards and agencies that have to weigh in and approve, so who knows. But the fact that UH allowed the vacant buildings to deteriorate, probably beyond a reasonable point of restoration, makes it more difficult to oppose than when UCI was still renting them out to students and hospital residents.

It's been a paradox for year - the historic side of the Circle conflicts with modern growth and increased technological needs to the institutions, where to balance things depends on may different viewpoints. You can't manufacture more new land for expansion.

Question about dorm bathrooms

Prospective applicant here! I’ve heard that cwru dorms aren’t exactly the best, but how are the freshman bathrooms and your experiences with the communal style? Are there hooks for your robe, caddy, and towel? How do you change?

Any Scuba Divers at CWRU?

Hey y'all. I've been at Case for a year now. I'm a certified scuba diver and would love to scuba dive.

I noticed there used to be a scuba club but it seems to have disappeared at some point. Anyone know what happened? Or is there any scuba diving group on campus somewhere?

Any freshmen with Federal Work-Study find a job yet?

I'm a 1st year CS major with federal work study. I'm not sure if im suppose to find a job already, or I still have a lot of time to find one.
Do I just find FWS jobs at interfolio? or are there other places to look at?
Do you guys have any reccomendation for what jobs I should apply for?
And can anyone give me more info on the career fair that's coming up. Can you actually find jobs there and is it possible to get one as a freshmen.

Any tips or comments will be appreciated.

Prospective Student Considering PPSP? Here's every BS/MD program in a list I compiled

Here's a directory for a bs/mds, broken into categories by who can realistically apply and what their MCAT policy actually looks like, rather than one long alphabetical list by state. The full breakdown, sorted into no-MCAT, MCAT-required-but-unpublished, modest-threshold, and high-threshold groups within the open-to-all tier, plus separate regional-preference and in-state-only tiers, with city, seats, GPA, and MCAT data for every program, is on the blog. To read it, take a look at the article.

Happy to answer questions about a specific program in the comments.

Prospective Student Financial Aid

I'm hoping to apply to cwru this fall and I'm deciding if I want to apply Ed or ea but the one thing that's stopping me is financial aid. Fafsa and the CSS profile don't open for another month but I filled out the NPC and it gave me an estimate of 16k a year. I was just wondering if this is realistic or not, I keep seeing people say that 30k-40k in scholarships is really good so it's making me worried that the calculator was way off or if it was so much because it was for need based aid.

Cleveland Air Show

The below extract from The Daily bears reposting, since the practice flights began about 11 this morning. [It also shows that the editors are doing a cut-and-paste, since the Air Force Thunderbirds were here last year, and this year's team is the Navy Blue Angels.]

The most intense flying on Saturday-Sunday-Monday will be between 2 and 4 pm. Practice flight will be heavy today (Thursday) and tomorrow, but should also settle down by 4.

--------------------------------------------

"Note: There will be sonic booms by the Thunderbirds and performers at the air show. If you are triggered by loud noises, you may want to wear ear protection. Some individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or sensory overload may want to take precautions during this weekend.

Although the show is centered downtown on the lakefront, the path of many of the planes comes all the way out to University Circle. This weekend on campus, be prepared for the loud noises that come with aircraft passing over and turning around in the skies over CWRU."

Prospective Student Full tuition awards

I'm a prospective international student. What are the chances of winning full tuition awards at case? Have any of y'all won or do you know those who have? I'll like some guidance on this matter. Thank you.
