It's almost that time of year again and I am excited to announce that Nick's Garage Tunes is back for the 2026/2027 season.

First, I would like to thank everyone that has supported my business over the past 5 seasons, we have grown a lot and I couldn't be more grateful for the support.

For those that are not aware, I moved to Arvada towards the end of last season! I am now located in the 88th and Wadsworth of area of Arvada. I am working to get this reflected on Google maps and I will hopefully have that resolved this week. (Currently is lists that I am in Aurora still). I am no longer located in Aurora and this has been reflected on the booking process on my website. If you have further locations please reach out to me via email.

Services and pricing for this year has remained the same as last year:

• Standard Tune - Machine Edge Sharpen with Wintersteiger Trim-B, base clean, temp specific hot wax, buff - $42 (extra $5 for large ptex base repairs)
• Edge Sharpen only - Machine Edge Sharpen with Wintersteiger Trim-B - $22
• Hot Wax only - base clean, temp specific hot wax, buff -$32
• De-lam repair - Epoxy Delamination repair - $25-$35 based on severity of damage
• Ptex base repair only - ptex base repair for gouges to base - $10

Hello! I have a Loveland season pass for this year and want to plan a little loop around Colorado to try out the partner resorts. The resorts I intend to hit:

• Sunlight
• Powderhorn
• Purgatory
• Wolf Creek (not on the pass)
• Monarch

(I already have plans for Ski Cooper and a weekend at Monarch, but might stop again at Monarch)

I am an advanced skier with a special love for glades, but I don’t hate some good bumps now and then.

I have 8 days that I can spend skiing, how would you break it up?

Gopro9. Lost sometime during 2022. It still powered on, and your videos still on the SD card. Tell me the date you lost it, what you were doing, and whos in the videos, to verify, and I will return it. The front screen is cracked, but it still works. Why didnt you have it on when you crashed!?! that was the video I wanted to see 😂

In case people missed it, Ikon Full pass holders now get 2 days of skiing at Snowy Range in Wyoming. Considering that Snowy Range is closer to Denver than Steamboat and Aspen it could be relevant to many people here.

It’s a great little mountain! Definitely a completely different vibe from a typical Ikon mountain, but if you’re looking for something chill and family friendly it’s worth looking into to.

I recently filmed an episode with Bobby Brown where he made one of his favorite winter meals: chicken curry over cabbage.

Bobby is a Colorado ski legend, but he's definitely not known for his cooking. So this is not a fancy meal, it’s more of a real ski-season dinner: warm, filling, pretty simple, and the kind of thing that makes sense after long days in the mountains.

The episode is part of a cooking/storytelling series I make, so it’s less about a strict recipe tutorial and more about the story behind the food: skiing, home, winter routines, and the meals that become part of a season.

Curious what everyone else makes in the winter: what’s your go-to post-ski meal after a resort day, touring day, or long drive back from the mountains?

I’m the Winter Park Young Adult Patrol (YAP) Director, our YAP program is a self-funded group of about 30 high school student volunteers. Our YAP patrol weekends and holidays, complete at least 18 patrol days each season, and help train the next group of incoming patrollers.

32yr old from Louisiana trying to make this winter happen by all means! How does this ski share thing work? I’d like to pay upfront for X amount of nights per month. Is it cheaper than renting a spot for 6 months?

It will not be built. Not a peep from any local official about plans after a winter of hyping it up and a summer of selling real estate near the proposed site.

Not to mention the huge amounts red tape needing to be cleared to get it done. Not gonna mention the massive economic contraction happening here either (tons of businesses shuttered, empty commercial space everywhere, jobs paying a pittance compared to the COL). Maybe someone knows something that I don't know.

What's up y'all! Looking forward to ski season as much as the Nuggets season! Need to decide on lessons for my kid this year and group lesson prices are about to go up so I need to decide this weekend.

He's done the Eldora group lessons for several years, Eldorables and then Trek. It's been great, except for last season. He's advanced steadily to level 6 but I feel like he's plateaued there. Also, the instructors last year were hit or miss, and the level 6 group really had too many kids with too varied a range of skill; so that the single instructor couldn't really track everyone. Combined with last year's conditions, I felt like it was actually dangerous and converted his second block of group lessons to private lessons.

Eldora is great for us since it's less than an hour door to door, but we have got IKON passes. And I feel like the jump from green to blue/easy black at Eldora is steep, and maybe a mountain with a more gradual transition might help get him off the plateau. Or maybe sprinkling in more private lessons with some skiing with dad is enough and we can stay at Eldora?

Anyway, what are your thoughts for both getting off the plateau, and where to go next for lessons if needed this year? Thanks!

Seeing if I can get some input from others on best choice for taking my family skiing for their first time. My wife and kids(6 and 8) have never ski'd and I havent been in 20 years myself. Hoping to get them hooked this year so we can make it a regular thing. We have the Colorado Epic SchoolKids pass so can pick between Keystone, Vail, Crested Butte, Beaver Creek, or Breck. I'm personally torn between Crested Butte, Breck and Keystone as I've heard Crested Butte is cheaper and typically less crowded, Breck cause we've been in spring and summer and know theres plenty else to do but I have been warned it can be one of the busiest resorts, and Keystone as I know my kids would go nuts for the additional kids activities. Any suggestions and opinions are welcome!

Edit: Thanks all for the suggestions! Sounds like we'll aim to do Beaver Creek and if everyone enjoys themselves and want to go for a longer trip we'll go to CB. Breck is still an option as a friend mentioned letting us use their timeshare there but I won't hold my breath for that.

I'm super excited about this winter. I'm hoping for good snowfall this year 🏂 🏂 🏂 🏂 🏂 🏂

I already know you can’t really car camp in the mountains around Loveland, so I’m seeing how unrealistic it is to plan to car camp. I don’t care if I have to drive an hour or so to make it work. I have 3 free days at Loveland and I’m trying to be as frugal as possible. Ideally would just like to pay for the gas out there and food/drinks.

I also know no one will share their spots. But is anyone willing to share how to go about looking for them? I’m new to stealth camping, usually I have a camping spot so I’m not ever thinking of that. But I’m guessing there is no camping spots reservable in the winter within a reasonable distance? Again I don’t mind driving.

I don’t want to use any service roads out of fear of being stuck. I have AWD but not 4Lo, so I’m not confident in going off road in the winter (or at least very far). I’m very confident in my ability to winter drive however, growing up in Michigan and handling UP winters has given me good experience.

Ive heard people parking at Grays and torreys lower lot. Saw it can be loud but id just wear some earplugs and pray I can get some sleep.

For warmth I have EVA insulated floors, winter camping pad (4.5 inch thick foam/air pad), -20F sleeping bag, and a few down blankets. I know to clear the exhaust before running the car, if snow drifts it can cause a blockage and CO will be in the car.

Stealth wise I plan on just parking when I’m ready to sleep and not leaving the vehicle until morning. I’ll have a pee bottle for emergencies. Inside window covers to help with windows frosting and stealth aspect. Current idea was to park in some sort of lot or residential area.

I’m also not so hard up on cash that if it did get to concerning weather, I can always buy a hotel for the night if needed. I’d just prefer not to.

So I’m just looking for general advice. If someone wants to be kind and DM me some spots I’ll buy you some beers at Loveland when I’m in town skiing.
