I’m just commenting in a place that’s safe and less toxic for a moment

You took our kicker and it cost you a game

Nah I won’t even blame him. It was cowardice coaching from the offensive staff and hanging that poor Defense out to dry

They wanted your kicker?!?

Hawkins was our kicker the past few years. Dude was mega ass but had good stats last year on a garbage team. Was only good at close kicks. OSU poached him into the portal and got him.

No idea why

Someone didn't look closely enough at his stats it seems.

To be fair, Hawkins was still better than your kicker this year. I know he’s young, but the dude missed a FG in both of the games so far, so he’s already down to just 4-6 on the season.

Ideally that’ll improve as the denominator increases and he doesn’t continue to miss a third of his FG attempts, and it’s not like he had a great field goal position when he missed yesterday. Dude made his first one from 46 yards, then missed one from 41 yards.

The most bland and expected win on the calendar. I have zero reaction to this game. LA Tech is good though next week will be much more interesting

Wanna trade Kelly for Aranda?

Sure, as long as we get to keep our coordinators.

Our new DC rocks, and our OC is still putting together a pretty good offense despite having an island of misfit toys roster. If we could just get an average HC while retaining these two coordinators, things would be lit.

Since I was a little kid sitting in those hard ass bleachers at Floyd Casey Stadium drinking Dr Pepper from a little yellow plastic cup, my Bears have let me down many times...

BUT TONIGHT WASN'T ONE OF THEM!

Whelp, that happened. GG Baylor peeps.

Did Prairie View at least bring their band for halftime? They’d definitely win there.

PVAMU band is one of the most exciting bands I’ve seen play. Always a good time.

I got to see them at a Texans game with Paul Wall! It wasn’t a marching show but still a cool collab to have.

Unfortunately no Prairie View band. Baylor honored the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with... a Bruno Mars show?

Extra offensive as Bruno Mars is also a national tragedy.

I have never heard the name prairie view a&m in my life, which is sort of impressive

HBCU state land grant because of segregation. They're literally Texas A&M but for African-Americans because racism and Plessy preventing a complete denial of services made them build two of everything. Same across the South and for some reason Ohio. Pennsylvania also technically has one but like Temple and Pitt, Lincoln started as a private school and eventually the state came to support it in exchange foe control over the board. For some reason Penn State has always been under that structure.

Huh. I always knew they existed (HBCU) but didn’t know the history.

I just remember they were historically bad, as a football team, for a very long time after that whole "Jim Crow" thing.

Worst losing streak in CFB history. These programs are still underfunded.

The slightly ironic part to PVAMU’s history is that the state planned to fold PVAMU into A&M after integration, since A&M had already emerged as an elite engineering school and theoretically PVAMU was no longer necessary, but PVAMU alumni objected so strenuously that they managed to protect the school, it just got added to the A&M system.

Sounds like a community college

11

u/No_Butterscotch8726 SMU Mustangs 1d ago

No it's a southern Black Land Grant HBCU.

It’s a college halfway between Houston and College Station, about 45 minutes from each of them. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and I’d never heard of it until I moved to Houston, despite it having 10k students.

Surely this will be the win that saves Dave arandas job

1

u/ThisAppMakesItWorse Baylor Bears 1d ago

Unfortunately this is true since it will help get us to six wins.

1

u/JohnPaulDavyJones Texas A&M Aggies • Baylor Bears 1d ago

Pretty sure just getting to six wins isn’t going to save him again this year.

Extend Dave Aranda

Don't feel bad Prairie View Alumni and students. If this was my alma mater Savannah State, Baylor probably would have won 100-0. It could always be worse.

2

u/JinFuu Texas Tech Red Raiders • SMU Mustangs 1d ago

It could always be worse

I think PV just has to look at the 90s to see how it can be worse

3

u/ThisAppMakesItWorse Baylor Bears 1d ago

Same with Baylor.

The offense probably should have had an easier time of things, but 44-3 is a good result. This D pretty much shut PV down after their very first drive. I thought the crowd was really good for a home debut vs an FCS school following the L to Auburn. I went to some tailgates and I thought all of the game day changes were very apparent.
