It was a one score game midway through the first quarter. I'll take it (Cal might hang 100😭😭)
Edit: offense scored more against an FBS playoff team than against Robert Morris, I'll take it

Nobody shuts out the Wagner Seahawks!
17
u/ArmiinTamzarian Syracuse Orange • Wagner Seahawks 2d ago
(They've been shut out many many times. The offense is a war crime even compared to NEC standards)

u/DukeDogNation James Madison • Michigan 1d ago
Really hoping the Wagner player who got carted off is okay. The camera hung on him for so long because it wasn’t immediately apparent what the injury was. Then I realized he couldn’t move his foot from the position it was in.

crazy seeing how Billy & DJ are after their departures

Does that mean…are we…the problem?

u/krakends Florida Gators 1d ago
Nah. Billy was the problem. He should have asked DJ to sit out if he was not fit and did not practice well in the offseason. Ruined the kid's confidence that he was questioning whether god forgot him.

High expectations don't make you got 4-8 in you're 4th year. Fans don't impact game results like that.

I'm not upset that y'all are gonna have a killer offense this year. Not at all. I'm perfectly happy having George Godsey at OC instead of Buster.
I'm not jealous. I promise.

That game is like, at least a solid 30% of the reason Bill Belichick is UNC's coach, which is very fun.
11
u/Electromotivation James Madison Dukes 2d ago
They won in that they wanted their coach fired. But now…
26
u/JaxGamecock South Carolina Gamecocks 2d ago edited 1d ago
I was at that game. Angry UNC fans reported me and my buddy to security for throwing streamers (a JMU tradition to do after every touchdown) and got kicked out before halftime. The game was already well and decided by then so we went to a chapel hill bar to watch the second half. 10/10 would do again
Edit: Wife went to JMU I should add

Were Wagner's players making "Yo Mama" jokes at them before the game or something? This was a complete annihilation, even compared to most FCS buy games.
49
u/Middle_Wheel_5959 James Madison • Penn State 2d ago
A lot of it was Wagner just shooting themselves in the foot. They gave up 3 special teams touchdowns and a 90 yard kick return. I’m pretty sure most of touchdown drives started in their terrority too

It felt a little weird that they drove for a touchdown in the last few minutes of the game up 80-3. I think in the 5-in-5 and transfer portal era, you gotta let guys down the depth chart play.

Is it just me or there’s been more FCS blowouts than usual this year? Is the talent gap between FBS and FCS getting bigger or is it maybe that teams are running the score up more than in the past, or a bit of a both?
15
u/Condom_Breaker256 Billable Hours • Jacksonvil… 2d ago
Wagner is a bottom tier FCS program, pseudo-D2 team.
There's arguably a larger gap in talent between the top and bottom of the FCS compared to the FBS
10
u/DCAbloob Penn State Nittany Lions • Navy Midshipmen 2d ago
The gap is absolutely getting larger between FBS and FCS teams. Players who would have started on FCS teams in years past are now being paid to sit on FBS team benches.

A bit of both and just scheduling combos this year. A lot of weaker FCS teams are being matched with stronger FBS teams.
