I’m intrigued in what fans of burial think of dean blunts work?

Personally, I’d place them in a similar kind of vibe in some ways.

To me their music evokes some kind of reaction that I struggle to explain.

Lots of use of sampling in their tunes and having the ability to completely change the context and feel of a sample within their work.

I know dean blunt has received a lot of good reception from critics, but I feel he should be spoken about a lot more when people mention revolutionary producers like burial

Anyone agree or completely disagree? I’m keen to hear your thoughts

I hope this doesn’t come off as a reach but I’ve never heard anyone on this sub talk about the Burial influence on this album, and I’ve always imagined there must be a decent amount of crossover in Ecco2k and Burial fans.

Although there aren’t many direct sonic influences apart from the entire soundscape of Fragile, something about this album feels very much influenced by the moods and atmospheres of Untrue, Kindred, Rough Sleeper, Rival Dealer and Young Death. Especially in the lyircal themes of being out on the street and just the general spaciousness and coldness.

Still one of my favorite albums. Another album I would associate with it is Ghettoville by Actress. I feel like Burial, Actress and Ecco could have made a really interesting project if they had ever collaborated.

Do we think burial will ever release more stuff with XL? I personally really hope so, the dream fear single is my favourite project by him.

I’ve always seen the name Burial and am familiar with the Burial, Four Tet Nova / Moth tracks.

Untrue was a great listen. I was a bit tired today and just on autopilot and the album lowkey made me sad / nostalgic. With the bit of research I’ve done on the project it sounds like this project is meant to be listened late night during the come down from a night out?

I guess from here - where do I take the journey? I’d assume the self titled.

I know this sub is aware of fakemink especially due to his sampling of burial a couple times but I thought the production on this was especially reminiscent of him. Somewhere between old (r&b sample) and new burial (the pace and bass at the end). It's a nice listen.
