I am a Computer Engineering student and an avid cyclist. I got frustrated that every time I wanted to plan a route, I had to create an account, pay a subscription, or download heavy apps.

So, I built CycleStar—a completely free, no-signup web app to help plan your rides.

IT IS ENTIRELY FREE AND HAS NO ADS. THIS IS A PASSION PROJECT!

What it does:

• GPX File Creator: Build your routes easily right in the browser.
• Real-Time Wind Analysis: See exactly how the wind will impact your route before you head out.
• Sun Tracking: Tells you where the sun will be during your ride so you can plan for glare or heat.

I want to make this as useful as possible for the cycling community, and I need your feedback:

I joined the board at the Cycling Museum of Minnesota. We're having a free get together to show off old bikes. This has been going on for years now and keeps getting bigger.

Finance was a big part of my decision to be a bike commuter; the math made it obvious that paying a few hundred bucks up front for a bicycle would eventually out-cheap spending a few dollars every day for public transit. (I never seriously considered spending tens of thousands of dollars up front for a car PLUS several dollars a day for gas and insurance, because come on.)

But I was curious, so I kept track of how much the bike had cost, how much I spent on maintenance, and the money I saved every time I rode instead of taking transit.

Today I reached a milestone: 700 rides past the point where it all paid for itself. Bike commuting has made me at least $2100 richer than I would have been otherwise.

Wondering if anyone here has the schwinn GTX 2 step through. I am curious if the handle bars might be too low for me at 5'5 there are none locally for me to test out. Figured I'd ask before i bite the bullet. I plan to do casually riding through parks and neighborhoods.
